Kapitel 17: Chapter 17: The strict husband
Wu Jinmai's POV
I simply nodded to make this conversation shorter. I really have to watch my words and make sure that I won't be talking strange words to everyone.
It will be tiring if I always explain as if I'm a walking dictionary. I'm already stressed because I was reborn to a tyrant's body and now I'm fixing her shits. I sighed in silence.
'I don't really get this. Can I really do this? How to be a good leader anyway?! My gosh! Our government was the People's Republic of China. The politics from the future and here was different! Am I fit to be an empress?!'
"I will keep that in mind. By the way, Shanguan Zu Jin, I have to hold a banquet for the three families to formally apologize for Wu Jinmai's madness. Tomorrow might be a great day for that," I remarked, chewing my food properly.
I noticed when he stopped eating and the dumplings were left hanging in the air. He put down his hands and looked at me with such serious face. I gulp.
"Is there a problem, A'Zu? Why are you glaring at me like that?" I put down my food raise both of my palms and shake them. I was shaking my head as well.
"It's not what you think. I really want to apologize. There's no hidden plan behind it. I have to after what I did, right? They deserve such an apology," I explained.
His glance was telling me that he was still doubtful of my actions. Shanguan Zu Jin warned me and I have to take that seriously.
He already stabs this woman's body even if he has feelings for her. That means he's a capable man.
'He's the type of hero that is willing to sacrifice his woman to bring peace. I should turn the table in my favor. He needs to be a villain who can sacrifice the world for me. Not really a real-deal villain but…'
"Your Highness, you have to be careful of your actions. You captured them and they're being imprisoned for thirty days," he halts and drinks some water.
"You really think they're not mad because of what happened? You starve them and command your men to torture them once and a while," he added. He looks at me in the eyes.
This man was scary himself and that's not cute but scary instead. "Oh my gosh…" I whispered in dismay.
"I can't believe Wu Jinmai was this scared. She's too stubborn and just does things on her without any consideration. She was… broken," I added.
I grab my bowl sip the soup and eat the dumplings on my noodles. She became depressed and because this era has no idea how to examine and deal with psychological problems, they'll just see it as an action of a madman.
"Really? You still defend her even if she will be the reason for your problems and threats in your life. Don't be too soft or else you'll die before you know it," A'Zu muttered.
Shanguan Zu Jin warns you in an irritable way. He's like a double or even triple-faced man. I feel like I'm dealing with a woman who is having mood swings. I don't know if he's being sweet or whatever. I rolled my eyes.
"I saw that. Stop doing things that are unnecessary. You're the highest official of this empire. Don't ruin your name by doing that face," he warns. I sulk. He's too strict!
"Are you serious about inviting Zhang, Yang, and Wei's family for an exclusive banquet?" he asked. I nodded and took a deep breath.
"It's been seven days since the first court meeting that I led. I have to do something or else they won't see how sincere I am in apologizing. I have to meet them as well," I replied.
He still gives me that suspicious glance. I lift my hand and hold the sleeve of my clothes. I snap my finger in his face.
"That's rude, your highness. I think you need to restart and learn the basics of our literature and etiquette," he says. I sighed and rolled my eyes. I am digging a deeper pit for myself.
"Who will be my teacher, madam Shu?" I ask.
He shakes his head and points the stick at him. I shake my head. Shanguan Zu Jin smiled and looked at me with such warning glances. I gulp.
"No… Can I request madam Shu instead?" I suggest. He slowly shakes his head.
"No, Your Highness. I think it's better if I'm your personal trainer on this matter. Don't worry…" he halts, putting down his chopsticks on top of his bowl. He interlocks his fingers together and leans his face on them.
"I will teach you properly," he mumbled. I blink and hide my fear by drinking a cup of water. Oh my gosh!
'I'm dead! I'm sure Shanguan Zu Jin will make my training miserable. Can I just go back to 2024!'
"If you insist, the three of us will send your invitation and bring them here tomorrow. Are you planning for lunch or dinner meal with them?" he asked. I held my chin.
"I think I preferred dinner. What do you think?" I ask. He simply nodded.
"If that's what you want. We'll escort them here tomorrow," he says.
I nod and smile. After eating our meal, we went to bed. I blink while looking at the curtain. The empress's quarter was really special.
The design of the curtain, and the wood that they used for the bed. The quilt and everything you can see in this room were all expensive. But most of all… I turn around and look at him.
"Don't stare at people like that your highness. You're making them conscious," he says.
I blinked and got up. "Why do I have to sleep in the same bed as yours? I can sleep on the floor," I remarked.
He opens his eyes and grabs my arms. He pulled me back to bed. "Just sleep. Tomorrow will be tiring for you."
How can I sleep?! I'm clearly nervous! "I really to sleep. Excuse me for a bit," I remarked.
I got up and crawled over me. He told me to sleep on the side where I'll face the wall. He grabs my arms and looks at me.
"Tell me, Wu Jinmai. Do we have to argue before going to bed, hmm? I'm ready to do so, Your Highness," A'Zu stated.
I faked a smile and tried to hide my irritation. "I prefer sleeping on the floor," I murmured. He shakes his head slowly.
"We already slept together last night. Why are you being nervous, hmm?" he asks.
I laugh while tapping his hand that is holding my wrist. "That's different. You're sick that time A'Zu," I stated.
He grabbed my other hand and intertwined our fingers instead. I gulp and my heart is beating so fast.
Yes, I have a boyfriend but he never flirts with me because it's my best friend that he really wants.
"Why are you being anxious now? Are you afraid that I'll be…" he paused. He turns around and kisses my wrist.
