Do you know what happens when you're powerful enough that barely anybody is a threat? You get a new enemy. A powerful one that even immortals can barely stave off: Boredom.
I'd question how Klaus and Elijah managed for a thousand years but the former has a hobby of daggering his siblings and was on a hunt for doppelgängers for most of it while Elijah was on a quest for Klaus' redemption.
Good old Finn spent 900 years in a box for 'being a bore', Klaus' words, not mine.
That does bring up the question; do I even need school? Probably not but I'd get even more bored if I left. Plus I never got to finish it the first time, what with me dying and all. I'd made a game of guess what someone was thinking before actually peeking into their minds. I got it right like 30% of the time.
Turns out boys mostly thought about sports, girls and video games. I'd know, except I'm not really into sports.
Damon is on his latest attempt to burn down the Gibbons house this week, this time with a flamethrower. It's safe to say he'd be going back home disappointed and frustrated again. I'll deal with that later. Anything he does, short of calling the founder's council on them, would be nothing but a nuisance.
Speaking of the founder's council, I probably have to do something about them. They're a bunch of idiots who think they know what they're doing. There's a founder's event happening tomorrow at the Lockwood mansion so I'll probably think of something.
In the meantime, I need to deal with the nervous Vampire standing at my doorstep. "What are you doing here Damon? You made it very clear that you didn't want my help."
"Cut the crap. What's your deal with Pearl?" He asked. He tried to hide his nerves with bravado but it didn't completely work.
At my raised brow, he continued. "Bonnie and Sheila wouldn't be caught dead working with one of the tomb vampires and you're the only other witch in town. I think you get where I'm going with this."
"No I really don't, Damon. Why don't you enlighten me before I get bored enough to have you try out a new look. Do vampires do gender reveals?" I ask rhetorically, causing him to shudder almost unnoticeably.
"You know I'm getting a bit tired of your little threats. It doesn't exactly scream 'team player'." He said, frowning.
"Neither does killing people's friends. I'm sure you remember Aimee Bradley." I pointed out, causing him to look confused.
"Who?"
"The girl you killed and dropped at my doorstep. If you ask me, that doesn't exactly scream 'good vampire', does it?" I ask, walking past the ward boundary of the house, now standing directly in front of him. "I have half a mind to leave you desiccated ten feet under the ground."
"Then why haven't you?" Damon asked.
"Because despite what Bonnie and Elena are going through, they'll manage to work it out. Stefan is Elena's boy toy and you are the boy toy's brother. Do you see where I'm going with this?" I taunt, mirroring his earlier words. "Regardless, if you tempt me, what I'll do to you will redefine the word sadistic. Are we clear?"
Rather than answering, Damon stayed silent before turning around and walking away. He's planning something. He's still convinced that I had a hand in the tomb vampires coming after them so Stefan and Alaric took a trip to New Orleans to dig up some dirt on me, jokes on them. They won't find anything.
Walking back inside and shutting the door behind me, I'm faced with Bonnie who was supposed to be resting.
"Are you really working with one of the tomb vampires?" She asked, a lost look on her face.
"No, she's working for me." I answered, causing her to take a step back.
"What?"
"After I found out that the tomb was open, I hunted down most of the vampires. Though, some of them already managed to band together and most of them had long time resentments about our resident Salvatores. I managed to stop them before they killed them." I explain, leaving out some parts of the story.
"How does that translate to them working for you?" Bonnie asks, still unconvinced.
"It doesn't. I found out there were two vampires who didn't even take part in the attack so we made a deal. I keep them safe from the founder's council and in return, they help me keep Mystic Falls safe." I could see the gears slowly turning in her head as she quickly moved past me. "Where are you going?"
"I need some air." With that, she was gone.
Huh… She'll cool off, I think.
For now, I have something else to think about. Having only Pearl and Anna in my service isn't exactly an impressive list to call on. I need to expand the number of minio…vassals working under me and I know just the pair to add.
-[Rose-Marie]-
Over five hundred years they'd been running from country to country, always looking over their shoulders for when Klaus, Elijah or one of those under them would show their faces to apprehend them.
All because Trevor went and fell in love with that bitch Katerina. Still, he was her best friend and she'd stick with him. Plus, it was her blood that turned Katherine so she shared part of the blame even if she was only trying to correct Trevor's mistake.
Hunting Katerina would do them no good so they'd grown accustomed to living on the run. Surviving without daylight jewelry made it a lot harder but that couldn't be helped, not many witches wanted to help vampires and killing them was an even worse idea when you don't know what they're capable of.
They were currently hiding out in an abandoned house in Chicago. They'd been here for a full week but it'd soon be time to move again to avoid leaving a trail to follow. Once the sun came down, they'd be able to keep moving.
No sooner had that thought passed through her mind did she feel a sudden dizziness envelop her. Staggering as if drunk, she barely recognized the sound of someone dropping to their ground. Her hazy vision recognized it as Trevor falling unconscious but she could do nothing about it.
After all, she too fell to the floor. The last thing she saw before she winked out of consciousness was a pair of shoes walking towards her.
Shit.
