Another night with nothing to celebrate, the dark jade fairies were eager to celebrate their victory against Haleen's army. They wanted to shout and cheer for their king who they thought was as enthusiastic as them, but something was holding him off. The first omen experienced frustration, anxiety, distress, and doubt about him.
Harper sitting at his office kept murmuring his words over and over again, "Stupid king. Stupid king. Stupid king. Stupid king. Stupid king. Stupid king. Stupid king. Stupid kin_".
"Harper, may I enter?" asked Amelia. "I knocked on the door many times, but you didn't answer." She stepped in and greeted him with a smile.
Knowing Amelia's arrival, Harper sat up straight with his normal expression—cold and calm. "It's quite late at night. Are you sure you are fit to roam alone?", he said with irritation.
Before him was the second omen, Amelia. The only dark Jade fairy to ever achieve the high position of the king's omen. At day she was the king's cold-hearted advisor but at night she was her husband's wife.
"You worry too much", she said as she sat across from him, "So how is my husband holding up to our king?".
Hearing that question made Harper feel guilty. How could he hide his emotions from his wife? He crossed his arms and narrowed his eyebrows, creating a sullen expression. "Why do I have to serve an idiotic king?" he said with pain in his jade eyes.
"You do realize you're going to get executed for your words", she said.
"Yeah right, an idiot with one brain cell might do the same".
Amelia laughed when she heard her husband's words. This made him wonder whether his wife was taking him seriously.
"Do you know? I sometimes imagine life without serving a king" she said softly, "A life in which we don't have to live like royalty, you know? Like working on a farm. You and me."
"Now you're making me laugh, " Harper snorted, "If I remember correctly, the woman reporting to the king this morning about warfare was in no mood for working on a farm".
Amelia's annoyed expression was enough to keep her husband quiet. "I'm serious, Harper. The king doesn't care about us. No matter how hard we try, it's all 'Mathias this. Mathias that', to be honest, I'm sick of it."
Harper couldn't disagree with his wife, because it was true. Warren doesn't care about anyone but himself. He might be young and glorious compared to other Dark Jade rulers but his behaviour only created worry for his omens.
"What about Roven?" he asked, thinking he could change the subject.
"That fool. He left his party and went alone, saying Mathias was his problem, not ours".
"I think I should thank him, another burden off our shoulders".
"Yeah but for how long?".
They both sighed, thinking they could never stop this endless work cycle. Knowing they had been serving Warren for one hundred and forty years, it was no surprise they wanted to quit.
*****************
Roven's hands shake when Rosette introduces Cara, her cousin. Mathias quickly accepts her when she asks if she can join the party, but this is rather alarming for some fairies.
"So, you are telling me that you want to join our group or whatever this has become now?" Roven asked suspiciously.
"Yes", said Cara after giving a short glance at Rosette.
"Great!", he replied back, "Let's all just trust this beautiful damsel after meeting her for fricken three minutes".
"Sounds okay to me", said Mathias with courage.
Roven looked at him with disbelief. "Well", Rosette caught everyone's attention, "If everyone has agreed to Cara's acceptance to join our group, then it's settled", she clapped meaning the conversation was over.
"No, it's not", Roven complained at my narrating. (Seriously dude) "Author shut up, none of this is making sense, why should I trust her", he pointed at Cara who didn't like his attitude.
"Oh, so you don't trust me," she said, moving forward towards him. Well, it doesn't matter. We could discard you from our group. I mean, you're not useful or anything. "
"Wha-at a-re y-ou ".
"Now that I think about it, he has been complaining", said Rosette.
"It's true, I mean the guy from earlier wouldn't bothered us if you hadn't pushed Rosette", supported Mathias.
"W-hat, okay hold on. You. Me. In the corner, now!", Roven gestures to Mathias and brings him separately from the girls.
"WHAT THE HELL GENERAL, HAVE YOU FORGOTTEN YOUR JOB", whispered Roven.
Judging by his temper, his face turned a blush of red, and his eyes were filled with fury. "Roven, you have to trust me on this one. This could be our only way."
"Yeah but how are we sure to trust them".
"Hey, they are humans, and we are fairies. We hold more superior power, and they can't help but be grateful for serving us."
"This guy, you don't know what they are capable of. I mean look at them, do they look like ordinary humans to you?".
"Yeah, pretty much".
"GOD! Mathias, one of them has three saphique amulets, and the other has no furniture in her house, isn't this strange".
"Roven this is my last chance, and I don't want to regret it. Just this once trust in me, and if anything goes wrong I promise I will take care of it".
Roven took a short pause before he said, "These ones on you General Wager".
In conclusion, Cara joined the team as the navigator. She who was a former noble was also a traveller with much experience. "So what we do now, newcomer", asked Roven with his usual attitude.
"I prefer if you call me by my name pretty boy, and I the answer to your question, we are going to Gaia's temple".
Sorry for the long wait
