Kapitel 49: C49: achoo!

[From the last chapter... continued]

Listening to the rustling of the wind in my earphones, I looked at the mental hospital in the distance on my screen.

I stayed silent for a while. I jumped into action and typed back in the broadcasting room.

"Before I play this game, I want to ask everyone, if... I mean, if, can I stop playing?"

A barrage of no-followed

"Okay, then... Let me turn on the light. What's the rush? ʱªʱªʱª(ᕑᗢᓫ∗) "

After saying that, I stood up, moved away for a few steps, and tapped the light button.

The next moment, in the camera, in a room that looked like a utility room, the lights came on.

Immediately, the chat in my livestream blew up.

"Wasn't this game as good as doodling?"

"Turned on the light? Are you afraid, Xiao Sun?"

"You really can't do it, let's wait for Brother Huang to come back and play together, at least you will not be alone." (⌐▨_▨)

"As easy as breathing, huh? Then why'd you turn on the light?" (´*`)

"Turn off the lights! Turn off the lights!"

"Turn off the lights! Turn off the lights!"

"Turn off the lights! Turn off the lights!"

With my move to turn on the lights, the entire screen, which had been filled with random comments, unified into one single barrage: Turn off the lights! Turn off the lights!

"Turn off the lights? Why turn off the lights? Shut up!" I screamed internally.

"Let me again say it. Horror games are like breathing to me, there's no pressure at all, and of course, I also get sometimes scared."

"But only a little bit nervous," I muttered on the mike.

Looking at the barrage in the live broadcast room, I tried to use off-site factors to ease my panic.

Sitting back on the chair, I put on my headphones and officially started the game.

Through the descriptions of the game. I had already understood some basic content.

In Escape, I play as an unarmed reporter.

There are generally two types of horror games.

One has a combat system, which allows players to use firearms or other weapons to kill monsters or bosses.

The other has no combat system, where players avoid monsters by solving puzzles and escaping.

Currently, the mainstream in the market is the first type. While the second type exists, it's not as common.

At least, there are very few big productions in the second category. But Escape is a good-budget horror game.

I could feel it from the scene and the atmosphere alone.

Although it's not quite at the level of AAA games, the visuals are still quite realistic.

As a horror game, this sense of realism can easily make you feel a little anxious.

"Fuck, I'm not afraid! Why would I be scared? Don't worry, let me just check out the controls first." I kept delaying for some unforeseen reason, maybe it was my sixth sense that was ringing, no... no I am not feminine.

I looked at the secondary screen, trying to communicate with the barrage to relieve some pressure.

Inside the guard box, with no one at the door, I found a battery.

After searching the gate, I found a few things in total.

A DV player, a battery, and a blue folder.

"This will probably replace the flashlight later, right?"

I took out the DV, put in the battery, and turned it on.

Looking at the dim green screen, having played a lot of it, I instantly figured out the mechanic.

There would probably be some dark environments later, and I'd have to use the DV to navigate.

Even though I was acting like a wolf, I couldn't help but shed some of my fake skin.

After nothing was left to explore, I pushed open the big iron gate and stepped into the yard.

The modern-style architecture of the mental hospital ahead of me felt eerily silent, and through the windows, I could see lights flickering in rooms.

It was as if unseen eyes were zooming in on my position.

Guiding the protagonist along the path, I suddenly stopped.

In front of me, in the Giant Mountain Mental Hospital, the lights on one floor suddenly turned on, and a black figure appeared in the window.

My eyes, which had been slightly narrowed in tension, widened immediately.

I turned on the camera, using the zoom function to try and get a better look.

But the figure noticed my gaze and quickly moved out of view.

I could only make out a vague black shadow from my vantage point.

And just like that, the lights in the room turned off again.

A cold chill ran up my spine, from my feet to the top of my head.

Nothing had even happened, and there was no terrifying monster in sight... yet.

But this is just a little panic.

This Mental Hospital in front of me looked like a monster with a gaping mouth, waiting to swallow me whole, maybe even my bones.

The layout of the surrounding environment was very strange, especially the explosion-proof vehicles at the gate, which made me feel even more uneasy.

Why would there be an explosion-proof vehicle at the entrance of a mental hospital?

When I walked to the door, I found it locked, with no way to open it.

After wandering around for a while, I finally found a small hole in the iron gate on the left and squeezed in through it.

Next, the game prompted me with some instructions on controls.

Run, jump, climb, and crouch.

The camera work and details of the game were also executed very well, something I hadn't experienced before in other horror games.

Through my headphones, I could hear the male protagonist's gasping breaths.

Following the operation instructions, I came to a window, and just as I turned in, suddenly all the lights in the room went out.

The whole room was plunged into darkness.

At the same time, I was startled by the sudden blackout.

'What did I see?' ꉂ (´∀`)ʱªʱªʱª

'Haha, Brother Sun has eyes!' ƪ("╰ _ ╯ )ʃ

'I laughed so hard, Brother Sun seemed to be shaking just now, didn't he?'

'If Brother Sun is scared, just admit it!' ☀(▀U ▀-͠)

Seeing my reaction, the live chat in my stream exploded with all sorts of comments, trolls, and expressions.

Compared to my usual broadcasts, the live chat today was more active. It was clear that a lot of viewers wanted to see me scared, using the chat to ease their nerves.

"Me… a chicken!!!!!! What's there to be scared of ¯\_(⌣̯̀ ⌣́)_/¯ ! I'm a macho! Why would I be afraid!"

I spoke out to reassure myself as I turned on the night vision mode of the DV camera. The eerie green tint on the screen made the entire game atmosphere even creepier.

With the camera in hand, I started to explore cautiously.

Opening a fake door, I moved forward.

Suddenly, the TV, which was turned off, turned on automatically, emitting a sharp, piercing noise.

"Ahhh!"

The shrill noise startled me so badly that I jumped.

I am trembling, and with a world-class scream, I kicked back on my rolling chair, with my legs propped on the table, and covered my eyes with both hands, retreating behind the chair.

After a few seconds, I noticed that there didn't seem to be any follow-up noises in my headphones. I slowly spread my fingers, peeking at the computer screen through the small slit between them.

The only thing on screen was a dark room, with a snowy, static-filled TV set in the corner.

After making sure there was no danger, I released my hands and switched from covering my face to clutching my chest, breathing a sigh of relief.
