Kapitel 18: Chapter 18

The things which had come to light had once again put our plans on hold. In fact, I wasn't so sure that I wanted to proceed. We had soon come to forget what had happened, the people we had lost, but the raw emotions, as well as the news of spark being a god's plan, couldn't be removed even if we had tried. Zadra's minions had taken it upon themselves, to write the stories in concrete and every day looked at it to remind themselves. Anthuina had stopped being sad and locking herself in her domain. Some believe that as she had finally a reason for why all those things happened to her, she was able to rest and put her pain to bed.

The other gods had begun looking at the humans through glasses, and their levels of sadness had spiked. Ever since turning their backs on them, the humans had taken to providing for themselves and making decisions. This had caused the gods to cry in despair. They had been used to turning their backs and watching them beg, that now that the humans no longer beg, none of them knew what to do. This obviously led to them shouting at their leaders and asking questions of which there were no answers.

'What happens now? What are we meant to do? Tell us, tell us! We deserve answers!' And they did, I knew that much, we all did, but there was nothing we could say or do. Should we continue to fight or go crawling to the humans begging for a second chance? It was the question of the century. Kiluaroth sighed as he thought of what to do. Once again, it was upon him to rally the rest and have a meeting.

Belle, who was spending all her time with her brother and the human by default, Anthuina who had gone back to the human realm to soothe babies and mothers, and him; the last three stood so awkwardly before one another. One would assume by how much they avoided each other's eyes that there was no bond among them. He noticed they both looked happier. A glow which he had not seen for so long, had returned to their bodies, giving them what most would relate to gods.

He was happy, but when Laiithu taught about how he looked and how he was sure that the point of the meeting was going to damper their moods, he was unsure how to bring the topic up. He had lost so much energy, running from god to god, maintaining peace here and somewhat on earth as well as training the new gods who had taken over from the fallen ones. Everything he was doing was to ensure peace, but he was a hair's breadth from giving it all up and joining Zadra where he was.

'Today's meeting has started. As we all know, many of the gods have taken it upon themselves, to initiating contact with the humans. And while a lot of us are still on edge, some have even gone to erecting their ancient statues in easy to see places for the humans to know they are back. The others who are confused and rely on us to show them the way have been banging on my door for answers, and I am tired. So what should we do?' Kiluaroth looked to see if they understood what he had said. While Belle looked guilty, Anthuina looked like she was searching for ways to disappear from the meeting, which was why he locked all magic away. He couldn't have her going thus prompting Belle to withdraw and leave him alone to suffer and wonder what to do.

We're watching, and we're waiting…we're watching and we're waiting…

Nobody said anything for so long; even Kiluaroth forgot he had said anything. With no magic, for the time being, they kept quiet and looked at each other. 'Remember when this all started? When Jacilis accused me of being the instigator, and I locked myself in my domain?' Anthuina asked but waited for no response. 'It wasn't because I was guilty or the instigator, far from it. I remembered everything I had done, said, or one way or the other guilted other people into saying. And I realized after watching Laiithu's 'confession' and my brother's last moments on earth, that I was guilty. Guilty of being loved by a god so delirious and dangerous in the head that even after being guilty of so much, he couldn't come out, to tell the truth. How many years has it been since all of this started? I am tired of it all, and I still don't know what to do.'

Belle had looked like she had things to say, but every time she opened her mouth, she shut it. I guess it takes a lot to rattle the princess of death. 'You feel sad, I know I do too. But you still haven't answered his question. Do we or do we not continue with this fighting and senseless violence. Do we block all contact and once again put the humans in the dark? What should we tell the gods when they ask questions about what is going on? Do you want to fight or let the blood of the fallen stain your hands? What do you want to do?'

Belle wasn't angry. Everything she had said came out like she was asking about the weather. Belle had raised points that Anthuina had failed to address but going back and forth in circles wasn't going to fix anything. As she had rightfully said, stopping now wouldn't bring our fallen brothers and sisters. Instead, it would stain our hands with their blood. I had lost so many, the people who used to worship me, the gods who I used to talk too, my sanity as well. So much had been lost and to think that we would end it here, without seeing it to the end saddened me more than dying.

'I vote that we finish what we started. It is time to end it once and for all. For those who feel, for those who died, for those we killed. Tomorrow, we shall settle it in a three-way battle. Whoever comes out victorious shall fight Nuala. Win or lose, tomorrow everything shall end. I hope you're ready for it.'

And with that, I bid them adieu and went back to preparing.
