Kapitel 15: Chapter 15: The Past Resurfaces

The days had passed in relative calm since Alessandro had entrusted me with the truth about his world. But this calm was merely superficial: everything about him betrayed the tension of a man preparing for war. And although he didn't say it directly, his behavior made it obvious: he barely left my side.

Every morning, he ensured I had a balanced breakfast, gently caressed my rounded belly, and gave me those glances, both tender and possessive. I couldn't help but feel somewhat protected, even though part of me found his watchfulness stifling.

But Alessandro wasn't the only one brightening my days: Luca, one of the guards assigned to protect me, had become an unexpected ally. Younger and more relaxed than the others, he had a way of making me laugh, even when everything seemed bleak.
