The house loomed before him, its windows like empty eyes staring back. The darkness within seemed to swallow all light, leaving only an unsettling chill. Devon stepped silently into the living area, his sharp ears picking up the faint crackle of the fireplace. The sound was almost comforting, but the cold that permeated the space was unpleasant, a heavy blanket that suffocated all warmth.

As he turned to navigate the corridor, a sharp voice pierced the stillness, "Who goes there!?"

He froze, his eyes scanning the dimness for any sign of movement. Hesitating footsteps echoed through the hallway, growing louder with each passing moment. "Who are you...?"

As he turned to face her, her eyes widened in shock. Those familiar dark red orbs locked onto his, and her body stiffened, as if frozen in time. Her lips parted, but no sound emerged. She looked like she was staring at a ghost, unsure whether this was reality or just another hopeless daydream.
