4.87% Transmigration: Return Of The Lost Heiress / Chapter 7: 7. An unnecessary apology

Kapitel 7: 7. An unnecessary apology

Although Anna wasn't sure if she was hungry or not, she obediently opened her mouth to accept the food.

George had managed to make Anna realize that she couldn't go through this journey alone.

Anna understood her new purpose, and drawing from her past life's experiences, she recognized that she couldn't achieve it on her own.

Anna was aware that she couldn't attain the justice she deserved independently.

She required someone like George to provide her the support she needed to stand strong once again.

In her current state, Anna needed George's assistance to overcome her disabilities.

Furthermore, Anna depended on George to help her with her mental well-being.

Despite her anger and readiness to confront challenges head-on, Anna understood the importance of maintaining her composure.

She knew she needed to meditate and control her emotions, even though it felt like a daunting task.

Seeing George brought back painful memories of the original Anna's suffering, believing those who betrayed her.

The more Anna dwelled on those who nearly destroyed her life, the more she felt the impulse to rise from her seat, locate the culprits, and confront them for the pain they caused.

Though Anna wasn't the owner of these memories and experiences, they profoundly impacted her.

Anna couldn't explain why, nor did she feel the need to. This life was now hers, and she was determined to fulfill her purpose.

Regrettably for Anna, her disabilities served as a constant reminder of her current limitations.

Anna enjoyed the meal with George and sipped some water afterward. The food tasted quite good.

Both the old and new Anna had never been interested in cooking; it wasn't a skill they'd ever taken the time to acquire.

Despite being urged to learn a little about cooking, they had no inclination for it.

Anna discovered a similarity between herself and the original host of the body, but she wasn't impressed.

It was merely an observation for the record.

Several maids stood around the room, observing and waiting to assist their employer as needed.

Anna noticed that Wei Yan wasn't among the maids present.

Anna had come to appreciate Wei Yan's efficiency and preferred her presence over the others.

"Are you looking for someone?" George asked, sensing Anna's searching gaze.

Anna turned her gaze toward George with a grimace on her face.

Despite feeling guilty about how the original host had treated George, Anna disliked George's observant, clingy, and overly concerned demeanor.

Frowning at George's inquiry, Anna conveyed her annoyance, and George immediately understood her reaction.

"I'm sorry," George apologized, even though he wasn't sure why he was apologizing for asking a simple question.

George didn't want to irritate Anna, so he felt compelled to apologize.

George often felt affected by the way Anna treated him, but he couldn't bring himself to stay away from her.

George had once attempted to cut ties with Anna, but she contacted him again when she was almost attacked by some thugs.

George couldn't comprehend why Anna didn't call her boyfriend that night, but he rushed to the location she mentioned and saved her from potential harm at the hands of those men.

Anna was grateful but the way she expressed her gratitude didn't satisfy George.

Anna made it sound like it was George's duty to put his life in line for her.

However, George, like a fool, felt special to Anna that night because she thought of calling him when she was in trouble.

Truly it hadn't been easy for George to endure the way Anna treated him when he only meant well, It had hurt him deep into his soul with the way she treated and even when he told himself that it was the last time he'd associate with her, George just couldn't stay away.

George didn't know why. He just felt whole whenever he was there for Anna.

A strange feeling washed through Anna like cold, causing the expression on her face to vanish. Again, Anna felt miserable for treating him harshly.

"You don't need to apologize," Anna stated.

George was eating as he had spent time feeding Anna.

"Why?" Focusing on his meal to hide the way he felt, George gave his response.

George shoved the pasta into his mouth with Anna's eyes on him.

"I don't know a person would apologize for asking a question," Anna's voice sounded different, causing George's ear to twitch.

George was still busy swallowing the pasta that was soaked in a tasty soup.

After drinking the soup, George turned to Anna whose face was already squeezed, showing concern.

"Are you looking for someone?" George decided to ask again.

"I didn't mean to react that way. You were just…" Anna paused.

"You've said this before," George laughed but Anna could see the pain hidden in George expression.

His laughter wasn't genuine.

'Anna had hurt this man so much', she thought.

"And I'm very happy to hear it again from you."

Anna looked deep into his black eyes, unknowingly admiring his handsomeness.

Anna could see the pain of being unappreciated in his eyes but she didn't want to continue thinking of this matter.

Anna needed to know who George was and if he could be trusted since he offered to help her as she knew deep down inside her that she needed George's assistance.

"I'm looking for Wei Yan," Anna decided to answer the question.

If only she had simply answered it earlier, there wouldn't be any need for the conversation they shared.

George signaled to one of the maids to call Wei Yan and drifted his eyes back to Anna.

"She'd be here soon," George informed before turning back to the table to get chicken.

"Do you…"

Anna cut him off. "Is there anyone in this world that doesn't like chicken?"

"If one exists then he isn't human," George answered and his response seemed to have intrigued Anna to cause her to smile.

"You are right."

Smack!

"Who do you think you are, Wei Yan?" A lady with long black hair dressed in a maid's uniform asked the lady who had her hair tied into a bun.

Wei Yan decided to stay quiet.

The lady that just slapped Wei Yan was her colleague and they were both assigned to take care of Anna Chen as directed by the head maid.

Zhu Jia, Wei Yan's partner had not been involved in taking care of Anna ever since she was assigned to take care of Anna with Wei Yan but now that Anna woke up, she decided to start her duty and informed Wei Yan that she'd begin to take responsibility.

However, when Zhu Jia didn't prepare early, Wei Yan decided to take care of everything.

Sadly, Wei Yan ended up being accused of trying to steal the spotlight, leading to the slap she received.
