12.12% Transmigration: President Wang, Your Wife Is An Assassin! / Chapter 8: Two Truths and a Lie

Kapitel 8: Two Truths and a Lie

Sebastian, his attention engrossed by his phone, was suddenly stirred by his wife's call.

However, just as Sebastian was on the verge of slipping his phone into his pocket, he heard her complete her statement.

Sebastian's mouth fell open slightly in surprise.

The maid standing beside him appeared equally taken aback.

Without hesitation, Sebastian strode into the living room.

There, Sebastian found the old woman who had referred to his wife as 'her child' trembling in fear, desperately avoiding his wife's icy gaze.

Baffled by the situation and bewildered by how things had unfolded, Sebastian made his way over to Olivia, his primary concern at that moment.

As he stood beside Olivia, Sebastian inquired, "And what would you need a dagger for?"

"To cut off her tongue," Olivia responded almost immediately.

Upon hearing this, Sebastian thought he had misheard, his gaze fixed on the shivering old woman.

Sebastian turned to Olivia once more and asked, "Could you repeat what you said about needing a dagger?"

"To cut off her tongue," Olivia reiterated, pointing at the old woman with an innocent expression on her face, as if what she had said was the most logical thing in the world for anyone to comprehend.

Hearing Olivia repeat the same words he thought he had misunderstood, Sebastian considered the possibility that it was a sarcastic remark. It seemed the only plausible explanation, as the alternative was that his wife might require medical attention soon.

However, Olivia's expression contradicted Sebastian's expectations.

Sebastian decided to probe further, saying, "Are you still drunk, Miss Jolene?"

Olivia stared at the old woman before shifting her gaze to Sebastian.

"I will tell the maid to get it for me, young man, since you choose to be an unwilling participant," Olivia stated, acting as if she had been a little disappointed by Sebastian.

In the next moment, the sound of Olivia's footsteps could be heard as she headed towards the maid, who stood in a corner.

'I am very sure she is not from Xi Village. I would not have known if I had not checked myself.'

Olivia's cleverness was apparent, as she had already figured out the old woman's deceit.

Olivia couldn't help but notice the increase in the old woman's heartbeat when she sat closer to Olivia and then confirmed that she wasn't from Xi Village.

Olivia could only wonder why the old woman chose to lie, even though her request for a dagger was meant to scare her.

Just as Olivia stopped right in front of the maid, she noticed the dilation in the maid's eyes and heard a gasp from her.

Following the maid's gaze, Olivia discovered that the old woman had collapsed to the floor.

"Inform the driver that there is an emergency!" Sebastian instructed the maid almost immediately as he held the old woman who had fallen in his hands.

Observing this, Olivia walked over to Sebastian.

Approaching Sebastian, Olivia stared at the lifeless old woman before addressing Sebastian.

"I would rather you not waste your time and money on the old woman; she is already dead."

Not wanting to listen to someone who was probably not in the right state of mind, Sebastian immediately placed his ear against the woman's chest to confirm that she was still breathing, albeit with apparent force.

Sebastian remained in that position for a few seconds before raising his head.

He then glanced at Olivia and shook his head.

Almost immediately, Sebastian lifted the old woman from the floor and carried her outside the living room.

Upon seeing Sebastian's expression, Olivia realised that the old woman was still alive.

Olivia walked behind Sebastian, matching his pace as he headed to the compound.

When they reached the car, the driver appeared seemingly out of nowhere and assisted Sebastian in placing the old woman into the car for a rush to the hospital.

On the other hand, Olivia hesitated when her eyes fell upon the massive object in front of her.

Olivia wondered what it was that these people were entering.

However, Olivia's concern lay elsewhere.

"Are you taking her to the infirmary? Then I will come along. Since she is not dead yet, she still owes me an explanation—a lot."

Sebastian paused, giving her a stern glare. "Go inside."

Olivia snorted at the authoritative tone from Sebastian.

She crossed her arms. "And who do you think you are that I should comply with?"

However, Sebastian ignored her and sat down in the front passenger's seat.

Sebastian's new primary concern was the old woman's life, rather than the unruly behaviour of a young woman suffering from amnesia and an unidentified ailment.

He found it bewildering how someone could lack empathy or exhibit psychopathic behaviour after getting drunk.

Sebastian took out his phone and dialled a contact, giving instructions before the car quickly left the compound.

Meanwhile, Olivia remained in the compound, flustered as she watched the moving vehicle.

After a brief pause, she confirmed that whatever the moving object was, it resembled a carriage, a mode of transportation she was familiar with, but the one Sebastian entered was much faster.

'I should have followed that old woman. She is definitely up to something,' Olivia thought to herself.

A small smile appeared on Olivia's face as she recollected everything that had transpired back in the living room. She realised that the old woman's pleasant demeanour had all been an act.

However, Olivia sensed that apart from the fact that the old woman was not from Xi Village, her words had a hint of truthfulness.

As Olivia delved deeper into her thoughts on how to make sense of what she had just learned, she suddenly felt someone standing behind her.

It was a man with a massive body structure, making Olivia look like an ant in comparison.

"Miss Jolene, Fifth Young Master Sebastian demands that you go to your room and stay there until he returns."

"And who are you to tell me that?" Olivia mused, quite certain that if the man were to attack her, a single kick from her would send him flying.

Olivia was familiar with people who appeared imposing but lacked stamina.

"This is under Fifth Young Master Sebastian's orders, Miss Jolene, and since you refuse, I will have no choice but to carry you."

Olivia felt like she had just heard a joke, but before she could react, she suddenly felt enormous arms wrap around her small frame. Her eyes widened as the large man hoisted her over his shoulder.

"What in the hell are you doing?!" Olivia exclaimed, feeling as if something heavy had struck her.

For a moment, she was dazed, wondering how, despite her efforts to struggle and break free, the man didn't even flinch.

'Have I overestimated my own abilities?'

'Why is he so strong? Even that young man possesses exceptional skills,' Olivia pondered.

However, she stopped thinking as she realised that her current body was weaker than she was used to, and she needed to train it to regain her former strength.

As Olivia was deposited into the room she had previously left with Sebastian, she heard the massive man say, "Fifth Young Master says you need a good rest as it's good for the brain."

Almost immediately, the man exited the room.

Olivia's eyes widened as she watched the door close before her. The issue of being carried was no longer at the forefront of her mind as she stared at the sealed door.

Olivia began to worry that she might not be able to open it, but she decided to try since she had previously learned how to operate a door.

Olivia reached for the doorknob, but her jaw dropped when she heard a noise from the other side of the door, followed by the voice of the huge man, "I'm sorry, Miss Jolene, but Fifth Young Master said he can no longer take any risks."

Olivia felt as though her ears were malfunctioning at that moment.

In a mixture of uncertainty and bewilderment, Olivia questioned aloud, "Am I locked in this room?"
