Kapitel 36: First Meet I

"Would you give me a minute, Miss Jolene?" Nolan asked with all due respect, a luring smile playing on his lips.

However, he paused when he noticed a guard standing outside the ward.

Nolan was uncertain if the guard had appeared out of nowhere or if he himself had been so focused on Jolene that he hadn't noticed the guard behind him.

Glancing at the young woman who appeared to be waiting for him to say what he needed and leave, Nolan realized that the guard was determined to stay.

Summoning more of his dwindling courage, Nolan continued, "Miss Jolene, may I have a word with you?" He glanced at the guard and discreetly mouthed, "alone?" But to his frustration, the guard remained resolute.

Initially, when Jolene had been alone in the ward, she had contemplated her next steps after visiting the Yu mansion and implicating Madam Yu. But something had triggered her to leave her bed and seek out for Sebastian.
