Elvira gulped. Landon wasn't even smirking that time. "What's wrong with you? He is a warlock."

"Is he more handsome and talented than me?" Landon bit his lower lip and flashed his minty green eyes at her.

Elvira narrowed his eyes at him. "This is a joke to you, isn't it?"

"No," said Landon. "Being shot down by the woman of your dreams is hard. It would at least make me feel better if I knew he could surpass some of my best qualities. Or maybe I can challenge him to a dual of magic or any weapon of his choice. Whoever wins gets the fair maiden."

"He is more handsome and talented than you." Elvira sat against a stack of hay and crossed her legs. "In fact, he would beat your ass in any kind of dual."

"Woah, that's hilarious." Landon couldn't hide the blow to his pride under his infamous smirk. "Now I am thinking he might be an underworld beast."
