Kapitel 6: Chapter six
The deputy parks his car by the hunters truck that they sent earlier because of a complaint of something being in the forest, he drinks the last of his coffee while glancing around using his flash light.
" well where the hell is he " Deputy Frank said walking to the man's best up truck, no one was inside also his rifle wasn't there and he walks toward the field as something shining near the woods.
" what the hell " Frank said bending down picking up a flask that reeked of whiskey, he closes the lid back on then shines his light into the trees looking around for William.
" Willie come on now your shift is over" Frank shouted while he kept his hand on the butt of his gun, he couldn't help to think of the victims he's seen from all the attacks so fear suddenly strikes him.
" shit...come on " Frank said as he began frantically looking around with his flashlight, he heard s twig snap then a hoot from a owl that was sitting on a branch looking down at him.
" base this is frank, I have a volunteer hunter who is M.I.A upon my arrival and I've only found his flask near the woods " Frank said over the radio as he starts walking back to his car, hearing his friends voice on the radio helped his nerves a little but he would be lying if he said he didn't run.
" I'm going to sit here for a minute use my car light maybe he'll see it if he's out to far, Frank kept glancing at the flask he'd never see Willie not having it on him since his father gave it to him so it was his prized possession.
Frank used the handle to his spot light looking through the forest line he went by something catching a shadow move but only the branches was gently swaying like something quickly moved.
" oh hell no " Frank said putting his car in reverse and punching the gas, he whips around looking in his rear view while driving away to see a large clawed hand on a tree ge was parked by.
" Holy shit !" Frank said while driving back to the station to tell Leon what he seen, he knows there is no way that was human and the blood lust he was feeling out there like he was being stalked by a predator.
" Leon we might need a team something was out there and Willie is still missing, you know very well he'd not just leave his truck or flask he's had for fifty years." Frank said driving his way to the main street while watching his mirrors, he still feels as if he's being stalked.
When he pulls up to the station he shakily looks around then sprints inside the station where Leon, Brooke and Mike's was inside looking over some of the cameras they put up. Some of the cameras had been moved to change angle to not catch whatever it is out there, the female Deputy rubs her temples while exhaling.
" what's wrong with you Frank" Brooke asked looking at her partner who is pale and sweating like crazy, even his dilated pupils that Brooke knows as fear.
" Frank come sit down " Brooke said walking over to the door looking out the barred window, she seen movement in the alley across from them.
" Don't even think about it Brooke " Frank said in a stern voice causing his partner to look his way, she glances back at the alley keeping her eyes searching the dark and shadows where she would see a flicker of a big shadow that made her skin crawl.
Brooke felt like something was trying to bait her so she'd go in the alley, from all the cases and how careful these suspects animal or not was smart also calculating.
" no one goes out until day break to start a search " Frank said pulling a whiskey bottle from his desk, he watches Brooke looking out the window and even if he's not looking out there he can feel that ominous feeling.
" Leon how's Mikey doing, what did the Doc say " Frank said to Leon trying to take his mind off of earlier, he seen Leon scrunch his nose then exhaling loudly.
" well he's getting better with the medicine but it's like his mind is on vacation or he'll have night terrors, he told me why he ran when he looked at the eyes of a beast pulling his friend with him to only cause the death of said friend...that's all I got out of him, he's scared shitless even setting the bed" Leon said looking over the evidence they collected.
" I met a man who came to interview Mikey, some loon that was talking about mythical creatures and other crazy shit. He said he does investigations into the unnatural it seems this place has had events for the past eight hundred years and he also has people who remind you of the mercenaries on TV shows" Leon said with a chuckle, he sits down at his desk looking at some hair in a baggie.
" the sheriff is letting him and he also has some kind of connection with the government so he'll have some soldiers he will bring to also help out" Leon said stretching his arms out while looking at a video playing on Lee street that caught past of a leg of something running in the shadows on all fours.
" they say this is a bear but bears legs aren't like this and the size is bigger than a grizzly....well take shifts I guess we'll be sleeping in our lounge, wake me up before answering any calls. We will go in twos if needed to check a place out, Brooke you take the first while Frank can keep you company while Mike Tanner can hit the bed too." Leon said walking to a room that had three bunk beds inside also a shower room, that includes a large bath.
" Frank what did you see our there, I've never seen you scared like this " Brooke said opening their gun cabinets pulling out two M-16s and two pump action shotguns putting a clip in each rifle while loading right shells in the shotgun making sure the safety was on.
" well come on...I'm going to prepare our guns for the search tomorrow morning" Brooke said with a smile while pulling out a few hand guns loading them, she puts a .38 colt, 9mm and a .40 cal hand guns inside a bag along with extra clips, boxes of ammo inside too.
" is that for your girlfriend and family" Frank asked while pulling out another shotgun loading it then placing it inside the duffle bag smiling as Brooke puts in the rifles and shotguns she loaded while filling the bag with ammo.
" here these knives are good to have " Frank said pulling out twelve inch blades and long machetes shoving them in her duffle bag along with two more 9mms.
" well get your bag together, something isn't right about this thing that's pointing toward a animal but what animal displays this intelligence. I've been pulling up other places that's had attacks similar to this hell the last case that had this many people was when Monroe's grand dad was mayor. A few dozen in other countries stopping a year before to start up here the same year it stops there." Brooke said pulling out a folder of things that's happened like this, they read the part about the Mayweather house and over all those mountains was a small nation where a town on the outskirts of the mountains that start our border had over 36 residents killed in the same manner as ours." Brooke said pulling out another paper that had eye witnesses said they seen a beast running off also some people was killed or taken at the same time but two different parts of town" Brooke said walking up to the white board writing more than one suspect, she even tells him about the camera being lowered on Lee street right when they caught a beast like leg that looked like the knee bent inwards.
" I think bringing those guys that do supernatural shit would be helpful for a case like this, he also said that twenty of the guard will be coming to help with searches and to keep the people safe." Brooke said with Frank only nodding his head to let her know that he can hear her or he agrees, she looks at the last two guns he put inside his and hers which was a sniper rifle with a high powered scope that had night vision.
" just in case " Frank said placing two boxes of ammo for them in each of their bags, these guns belonged to them anyway each person had cabinets full plus some inside their homes. Brooke even has a storage unit that's made into a panic room, since she owns the place she converted five units to make her panic home where it had walls built from steel and concrete. Cameras on every corner and hallway, she also had the place around the storage unit yard and at the forest that meets her yard, she also has bedrooms, baths, kitchens, storage, and living rooms inside her panic home that's stocked with anything that they'll need.
" where is she tonight " Frank asked while zipping the bags shut, she smiles at him then pulls her phone out.
" she's at her cousin's house so she's with the sheriff then I don't need to worry" Brooke said smiling while sending a text to Melanie.
" you all still have your ids saved in the panic house" Brooke said as Frank rolls his eyes then giggles.
" why can't you pick something else besides panic house maybe like the great escape or the niaers some crazy name you just make up " Frank said sitting back down at his desk watching the cameras that they put up on different streets to keep an eye out.
" have you noticed though that the alarm on camera four on the sheriffs street " Frank said as he uses the control to move the camera it kept jerking back to it's regular position, he knows a half hour ago Brooke positions the camera on Alexis's home when her girlfriend arrived to spend the night there and now the cameras pointing two house down from the Monroe's.
" holy shit whose house is this one" Frank said pointing at Riley's new house she purchased, they seen up to six shadows of things that look to be on all fours.
" Wake Leon up now and get ahold of the hunters who are volunteering" Frank said as he started pulling his weapons slinging the shotgun on his back while putting his extra hand gun in it's holder, the other two guys wake up scurrying to get ready while Brooke is on the radio sending out a emergency dispatch of where to meet.
" Let's go " Brooke said grabbing her duffle bags making her way to the large truck throwing the bags in the passenger side while the other three take the two cars picking up some of the hunters who pulled in while the others was driving to the sheriff's street.
" Brooke go to the sheriff's house and watch over them, Miles and Thomas go watch the outside from your car" Leon said over the radio as Brooke whips in the sheriff's driveway, a couple of seconds later lights flooded around the house to where a shadow couldn't even be found in their yard.
The sheriff comes to the door a minute later with his shotgun in hand, he lowers his gun seeing Brooke, he glances around when he seen worry on her face.
" there at the new girls home two houses down" Brooke said carrying the two duffle bags inside and catches the worried look on the sheriff's face and the car with her back up pull behind her truck staying seated in their car.
" they'll keep watch outside while I'll be here to make sure your all safe" Brooke said as they look over to the stairs where three girls came down.
" Brooke what's going on " Alexis said as Melanie runs to hug her girlfriend, the other two look at her father who was pulling on his uniform shirt and getting his firearms ready.
" don't look at me like that Alexis it's Riley's house " Her father said walking to the front door, he turns to look at his family.
" keep your guns on you and the four of you go inside my office, watch the screens for any movement and radio me on what you see....it looks like they want us to see that their going after Riley" Sheriff said as Brooke motions the girls inside the sheriff's office where twelve screens are up on a large monitor.
Alexis straps her gun holder on her hips buckling the belt, she pulls out chrome plated .380 making sure it's loaded and walks over sitting in front of a computer moving different angles up from the cameras.
When Leon's men was going toward Riley's house when a house alarm goes off with flashing red lights on the inside and when the flood lights flicker on the bulbs blow up making it dark again with only light coming from the neighbors houses and the flashing red lights.
" why isn't she coming out or disabling the system" Alexis said out loud watching the screen while holding a radio ready to speak when she spots something.
" movement upstairs, I couldn't see who it was " Alexis said on the radio as her father moves to the front door with Leon and Frank while the others make their way around the side then back.
" keep your eyes out for the people who live here, hopefully she's staying somewhere else tonight" Leon said using his flash light to look through a window by the front door, he didn't see any movement so he tries the door handle to see that it's still locked.
" 1,2, now " Leon said kicking the door open as all three men look around the inside to see boxes stacked every where, Leon looks to the revolving said way that circles up making it hard to see the upstairs floor without climbing the stairs.
" Frank start clearing the first floor you two go with him while the sheriff and I go upstairs." Leon said, pulling out his handgun as he secures the shotgun close to his waist.
" nothing" Frank said over the radio clearing the last room down stairs, then makes his way to the back door when he looks out the glass he spots a black furred animal running back into the woods.
" don't chase it you'll never catch it anyway...Sheriff I think whatever this is wants to lure our men from here, no way it accidentally gets seen like it waited for us to see it" Frank said to the men outside then over the radio to the sheriff, he points at a big guy named Ray.
" you three keep your eyes on that forest don't turn your back while the rest of you canvas nearby" Frank said heading back inside the house, he looked for a basement door but couldn't find one so he heads upstairs giving the other two a heads up when he walks to the last room to see the bedroom is completely covered in blood also the head of Willie who went missing that night.
" Rae get your stuff we have a body " Leon said when he called her phone, both girls faces went pale as their knees buckle.
" Riley " they both said, the sheriff grabs the phone from Leon then clears his throat.
" it's not her sweethearts" the sheriff said hanging up the phone while glaring at Leon then looks back at the body flipping the light on and looks at a word drawn in blood that says (" you") that was all.
Rae and Alexis rushes in the house with the two men who was sitting at the sheriff's office, they both run upstairs hoping to see Riley and if she's alright to find a blood soaked room.
" ah poor Willie" Rae said pulling out her camera snapping shots of everything while bagging up things, she checks the head looking at the torn flesh of the neck to also see the blood was all inside this room.
" they killed him here but took the rest of the body...have you informed Riley yet " Rae said after collecting swabs from the head before bagging it up, she takes samples of different spots around where the head was located also snapping pictures of the ceiling.
" yeah they definitely beheaded him her see the arterial spray" Rae said pointing up at the ceiling also seeing scuff marks on the large oak bed frame, she takes pictures of that then points to it.
" Willie always wore those cowboy boots and you can see where his feet was thrashing hitting the bed frame" Rae said as Alexis agrees with her, she walks over to the window looking down to the back yard and shivered as a cold air washes over her.
(" something or someone is watching her") Alexis thought then exits the room dialing Riley's phone to finally get a answer after the fourth ring.
"hello" Riley said answering the phone after climbing out of Blair's window to sneak back to her House, she notices alot of cars on the street then dunks back between Blair's house and the neighbors.
" Riley where are you" Alexis said watching Rae look back at her, usually she is so into the crime scene that she zones out but when she heard Riley's name she snaps her head to Alexis.
" shit Im outside...but don't worry I'm close to my house and don't be mad" Riley was whispering on the phone, Alexis heard what she said.
" Wait Riley are you out in the street" Alexis said running down the steps to look out the front door since they still had men out.
" no people are out and it's past curfew so I'm sneaking around back, don't worry I'll use the trees so they don't see me...what's going on anyway" Riley said and Alexis breath hitched when she said shes out back and the forest is right off all the yards on this street.
" NO !!! Riley come to the street I'm at the front of your house" Alexis said in a frantic voice while the sheriff and Leon run around the house.
" Riley's out back here group up and find her watch your weapons" sheriff Monroe shouts while they jog down the yard, they heard a lot of trees rustling and small branches snapping a half a mile in the woods.
" Shit what is that " Ray said squinting his eyes seeing a large black thing running past some trees easily breaking limbs the size of Rays thigh and he's a big guy.
" Something's out there !" Ray shouted as he cocks his shotgun pointing out to the trees looking forward for that black hair ed thing.
Riley was walking when her phone powers off after telling Alexis she's out back sneaking home, Alexis could tell Riley was close to see her dad's men on the street.
Alexis and Rae make their way down the street stopping in front of Blair's trying to look out back whisper yelling Riley's name.
Blair's front porch light comes on making the two jump when they see Blair leaning against the door frame with her arms crossed.
" Why the hell are you two yelling out a girl's name at my house !" Blair hisses out glaring at the two girls in front of her, she's pissed for several reasons but hearing Riley's name come from those two is pissing her off.
" Blair please something killed Willie in Riley's house, I called her but before her phone cut off she said shes out back because of curfew...that thing that's killed people is out there" Alexis said pointing to the woods behind Blair making the cheerleaders eyes go wide.
" yeah she'll cut through the neighbors yards using the trees for people not to see her...she just left ten minutes ago" Blair said running down to where Alexis is and tried calling Riley from her cell.
" Shit answer Riley " Blair said while taking her hand through her hair huffing out in annoyance, Blair looks down seeing that both girls have guns.
" well let's go look you both have guns " Blair said turning on a flash light walking to her back yard, the other two follow behind her and pulls out their guns while calling Riley's name out.
The loud snapping noise that Ray heard was now being heard by the girls as they hold each other's arms while speed walking to the next yard.
" Ray get down here" Rae hollered out to the large bear of a man who was walking deeper in the forest, he glances around then slowly starts making his way back since he was over fifty laces from the girls.
A loud howl made Ray freeze in his spot also the girls did too, they look around trying to spot something and drag their eyes back to Ray. All three of the girls eyes go wide when they see a beast towering over the 6'5" four hundred man, the girls step back when they watch it raise it's right claw down swiping them down Rays face and chest.
The big man screams as a low growl comes from the beast as the man falls to the ground trying to crawl away while blood blinded his vision, Alexis starts firing her gun off hitting the beast in it's chest as Rae started firing at it.
Riley heard Raes voice shout a man's name, so she turns around jogging back to see the girls in the yard then sees a big man who is a dozen steps away from her with a creature that's two feet longer than the man.
Her eyes go wide when she seen it's claws rip into the man's face and chest, she looks back over at Alexis as they make eye contact with each other and start firing her gun off hitting the beast as Rae does too.
" Riley move now !" Blair shouted walking toward Riley holding her hand out, the thing snarls at them and runs off. Riley runs to Blair as the girl hugs her tightly and looks over Riley's body making sure she was fine.
Alexis was sure the look the beast gave Riley, she could of swore it smirked at her then grins devishly at her and Alexis automatically went in offence mode thinking it was going to dash at Riley.
" Alexis " Sheriff Monroe shouts as he runs over with men, Leon runs over to where Ray is laying and he grimaced at how deep the cuts are on the man's face and chest.
" paramedics up here " Leon shouts as three men run up carrying a bed to transport the man but thought twice seeing the size of the man, Leon has one of the men who has a at. to pull up taking Ray down to the street where the ambulance was waiting.
" Riley don't ever do this again, we could of lost you tonight" Alexis said pulling Riley into a hug, Rae walks over hugging them both while Blair is glaring at the three.
Riley knew something broke into her house plus she has hidden cameras that was well hidden she even manages getting pictures of the beasts and also several men in cloaks that hide who they are.
" well let's keep patrols on the street and Riley can stay with us " Sheriff Monroe said as Blair grabs Riley's hand making the girl look at her.
" my parents are gone since they was called into work" Blair was saying when the sheriff walks back over to them.
" well you both will stay at my house now let's go home, Leon set up watches tonight I'll have Brooke stay inside with us " Sheriff Monroe said walking the group back to his house as neighbors was looking out the windows at what's going on.
" who stays in the house beside you Blair" Riley asked remembering the high grass when she left Blair's house to walk back.
" Um Mr. summers but I haven't seen him in four months now that you mention it" Blair said as Riley puts her jacket over Blair's shoulder making the girl smile.
