"A dinner?" Brock furrowed his brows when he heard the butler's words.
"Yes, young master Moo. Our master invited you and your friends tonight to thank you for saving his daughter."
Brock frowned. His first reaction was to reject him, however, he thought better afterward.
Brock knew a little bit about politics, and rejecting the invitation of the City's Lord without a good excuse was not a good idea.
He looked at his friend Marcel beside him and not letting the butler hear their conversation, literally using Morse codes by blinking.
" .-- .... .- - / -.. --- / -.-- --- ..- / - .... .. -. -.- "
(Translation: What do you think?)
" -.. --- / .-- . / .... .- ...- . / .- / -.-. .... --- .. -.-. . ..--.. / .. ..-. / .-- . / .-. . ..-. ..- ... . --..-- / - .... . -.-- / -- .. --. .... - / -.-. --- -- . / -... .- -.-. -.- / .- -. -.. / .- -. -. --- -.-- . -.. / --- ..- .-. / .- ... ... . ... / --- -. -.-. . / .- --. .- .. -. "
(Translation: Do we have a choice? If we refuse, they might come back and annoyed our asses once again)
Brock smiled wryly. That was not a very useful opinion.
In the end, he heaved a sigh and nodded to the butler who just gave a very odd look at the two.
"Understand, tell the Count we will be there for tonight."
"Understood."
After the butler left, Brock told Delirious while eating Cheetos and watching live feeds of one of the surveillance drones flying around the city as his entertainment, he also witness a bar fight which entertained him abit, but hearing his friend's words, he turns around and listens about the invitation and asked him if he wanted to go. Delirious seemed reluctant at the start, but in the end, he just agreed.
Anyway, he was getting bored of staying in the house.
It was soon night, and the time for dinner approached. The trios rented a carriage and took it to the Count's mansion, but the riding was very boring so Delirious just took out a radio and played random music inside.

For tonight, the three of them were dressed elegantly. Marcel was wearing a light blue shirt and dark blue pants. His sky blue eyes were shining brightly, and his hair exposed to the air, giving him the vibe of a handsome young man.
Moo wore a gray tuxedo with golden buttons in the sleeves. He has a multi-colored ribbon the same as his shirt. Moo looks already very handsome, but not too handsome at the same level as girls saying 'kyaa so handsome!'
As for Delirious, he wore rather simply. A dark blue tuxedo without decorations or a ribbon but still wore his signature mask. Strangely, though, while wearing his mask, he gave out a mysterious vibes towards his surroundings making him a mystery type person, making most girls around them very Curious.
As the three walk through the field, Delirious just realizes something, he looks at the people around them, then himself and the other two.
'Geez, what the hell are we now? Anime characters?'
When he thought of that, the group of three arrived in the Count's mansion, all the people that saw them were slightly stunned about those strange three young man
"Guys, right here!" They were greeted by the Count's daughter, Karen, Once they arrived. She walked towards them followed by Stella. Both of them were dressed adequately for the occasion, with a blue and a gray dress respectively.
"Miss Karen, good evening." Brock greeted her back.
Karen smiled brightly but just ignored him. She then started searching behind the three, but when she failed to find Xavier, she put on a disappointed expression.
"The Golem is not with you?"
"Obviously, Xavier Number 2 was not appropriate to bring him on an occasion like this." Delirious answered coldly.
In truth, they left Xavier back to their rented house to guard their stuff they left, because they were already full in inventory so they had no choice but to leave it there.
"Is it so?" Karen slumped her shoulders. But then, she seemed to remember something and put on a curious expression. "By the way, I saw you guys wore diamond armors, are you really from a noble background? Where did you get it from?"
Instead of questioning Brock, she was questioning Marcel.
"Well, we did." Basically admitted it frankly. Anyway, many people had seen it already. "We just got it from our... birthday! Yeah, on our birthdays we get our gifts like those!"
Both Delirious and Brock rolled their eyes hearing Marcel lying so easily. But somehow Karen just easily believes it.
The group entered the Count's mansion and followed Karen to the dining room. Once there, they met with the City's Lord and Herald, who were already seated at the table.
"Gentlemens, it's nice to meet you again!" The son of the City Lord stood up with an enthusiastic smile.
Brock could not help but cough briefly. "How are you, young master Herald? Thank you for inviting us tonight. Also, Count Liam, nice to meet you."
"Mhm." The city lord just nodded.
Herald smiled awkwardly seeing it, but as the Count's son, he knew what to do next. So, he invited the group to the table.
The three then sat down.
The dining room was decorated luxuriously, with many delicious-looking dishes, and silver cutlery. The tableware was made of an expensive-looking crystal, and the tables and chairs were decorated with magic beasts' leather.
To describe it with one word, it would be 'expensive'.
Delirious, Moo, and Basically were surprised by this. The three of them were people who weren't used to living in luxury. To be honest, this is like their first time being here.
Count Liam did not talk at all for a while. Instead, he observed the group of three carefully.
But when the group started to eat, he frowned.
Of the three of them, none seemed satisfied with the food.
Although the three hid it very well, it was obvious that they found the food's taste lacking. Gordan Ramsay can give the looks of the food a high score, the taste, not so much.
But the food tastes almost comparable to Earth, but in the end, there are minor differences.
In other words, the three of them were used to eating better food than this.
"How is the food, gentlemens?"
To confirm his suspicions, the city lord asked.
This time, for the first time since arriving in the mansion, Delirious spoke. "Not bad. Just a bit different from the food we used to."
"Is it so?" The city lord nodded, confirming his earlier conjecture. "That is good. Right, I have a question, I heard you are called Brock Barrus. However, I have never heard of that surname in the surrounding countries. Is it perhaps from a faraway place?"
"In a place far far away!" Brock replied without pausing, trying to not get suspicious. "Umm... Barrus is not a common surname, so it's normal if you have not heard about it.
"So you are not from this country, huh. How did you end up here?"
"Well, me, my friends, and the others there decided to explore the world for the first time instead of staying our asses laying around and playing games! Kalren city is just one of our stops."
The city lord nodded and did not ask anything else.
Moo, however, was wary. Same as the other two, they well knew it was obvious that the city lord was interested in their origins.
Although none of them showed it in their faces, they had started to wonder if anything was wrong. Of course, there was the possibility that the Count was simply interested in the people that saved his daughter, however, it was not wrong to be cautious.
Fortunately, the city lord did not ask anything else after that. So both of them soon relaxed.
The rest of the dinner passed without anything interesting. Only Karen asked them some things occasionally. In truth, Karen was talking mainly to Marcel, which made him a bit more nervous.
That detail was quickly caught by Herald. He put on a pensive expression and looked at Marcel.
"Mister Basically, I have a question, are you single?"
"Krk!" Marcel almost choked by his own food after hearing the question that came from Herald, and it was completely unexpected.
For an instant, the atmosphere froze.
After that, the dinner was enveloped in an awkward silence.
"Brother!" Karen exclaimed as her face turned completely red.
"I'm only joking sister."
"Nah, to me, you aren't fucking around." Basically said in a deadpan look.
"Ah for fuck sake, please don't tell me this story is also a Rom-com genre bullshit!" Delirious yelled out.
As the argument started, the whole dining room became noisy for a moment before the Count chuckles.
"It is good to be young. Everyone, silence!"
In the next instant, the dining room became silent.
"Alright, let's talk about another topic. Basically, if I'm not wrong, you are around 20 years old, right?" He said with a small smile.
"Eighteen actually."
Technically he lied, in reality, he was 32 years old, but after getting transported to another world, he now has the body of a young adult around 18 to 20.
"Eighteen, huh. Very young, however, I sensed your inner mana is already at the early stage of Rank 3. There are not many young people as talented as you in this land. I'm curious about the person that managed to teach someone like you."
The reason the city lord can tell his rank was because of his mana leaking from his body, that is how you can measure their rank based on their mana without a measuring tool. The three have little knowledge about this world which is the reason they are unaware about their mana in them.
Furthermore, reaching Rank 3 at that age was a great accomplishment. Although it was not top-class in the continent, it was enough for the three to be considered as promising geniuses. No normal force could train someone like them.
Even Herald, Count Liam's son, had the same cultivation as the three despite being several years older than them, physically eventually.
So, when the city lord asked about the person that taught Marcel, he was actually trying to get information about his background.
However, he and his other two friends were not so naïve to fall for that trick. Of course, revealing something was not a problem.
"Me, and my friends have been taught by our wise and great teacher, Master Roshi, since we were kids."
And of course, Marcel spat another bullshit.
"He must be a wise and great man."
"He is." Basically said with pride. "He is the greatest teacher in the world. He trained my friends with sweat and blood, training for very long, 24/7, even running towards the peak of a large mountain while holding two buckets of Milk. It was very, very tiresome training."
'He's definitely referencing Dragon Ball.' Delirious and Moo thought in sync.
"It looks like you admire him a lot." Liam narrowed his eyes. He wanted to continue asking, but Brock opened his mouth at that moment.
"By the way, have you learned anything about Miss Karen's attack yet?"
"Nothing." Herald smiled wryly. "We searched all the city for clues, but it seems like they disappeared completely."
"Hmph! They are underestimating me. Nobody can attack my daughter in my city without suffering the consequences!" Count Liam said arrogantly. "They can hide for a while, but I'll definitely find their rat hole."
The trios were not so sure about it. No matter how they saw it, those assassins did not seem that simple.
According to their observation, they seemed like the kind that was after a clear goal. If they dared to go against the Count, they surely had something they could rely upon.
Well, that had nothing to do with them anyway. They weren't supposed to involve some plot story or anime type bullshit, they are only here for information, fun, shits and giggles.
Then the rest of the dinner continued like that. The Count Tried to get a bit more information out of the three mouths, however, the three of them were very careful with their words. Until the end, they did not reveal anything they could not reveal.
To be honest, Delirious found the meal uncomfortable. Not only was the food not as good as Moo and Liz's cooks back then, but the Count's constant prying was distasteful.
He would have preferred to kill some animals or punch a cow rather than staying here.
Unfortunately, he could do nothing about it.
Instead, he and the others swore they were not coming back to this place ever again.
Finally, the dinner ended. Moo suppressed the urge to sigh in relief and stood up.
"Count Liam, I think we will leave already. Many thanks for the dinner."
"Oh? You are already leaving? So fast?"
"Yes, it's already late after all and we don't want to impose."
"I understand." The city lord nodded before turning to his childrens. "Okay, Herald, Karen, accompany our guest to the door."
"Yes, father."
"Okay, dad."
The three then were led to the exit. Karen and Herald kept talking about random topics during the way until they reached the carriage.
"Young master Herald, miss Karen, once more, thank you for the invitation." Moo said.
"It's nothing. Now that I think about it, you promised to invite me for a meal last time, right?"
Moo was startled. Thinking about it, it was supposed to be an excuse, he indeed said that.
"Mmm... Why don't you come with us tomorrow then? My sister and I are going to the outskirts of the city to hunt some magic beast, and I'm sure Karen will love it if you go with us."
Hearing this, Basically frowned.
"Outside the city? After she was attacked?"
Herald smiled wryly. "I will not lie to you. In truth, father is trying to use this opportunity to fish out the culprits."
"Ah, is it so?" Delirious said with a suspicious look.
He then looked at two of his friends.
Both of them were indifferent. To be honest, after spending almost a week in this world, surrounded by dangers and nearly died, they found the idea of going to hunt them unattractive.
Moreover, both of them could feel something strange about this invitation.
However, they did not refuse instantly.
Instead, they thought for a moment before nodding.
"Okay." Moo simply agreed.
"Great! We will meet at the east entrance tomorrow morning!"
"We're looking towards it."
After that short exchange, the group departed.
When the trio were gone, Herald separated from Karen and walked towards the Count's office.
*Knock* *Knock*
"Father?" Herald called out to his father, continuing knocking on the door.
"The door is not locked."
Hearing his response, Herald pushed the door open and looked at his father with a serious look.
"It's done."
"Good job. They did not suspect anything, right?"
"Nothing... But father, are you sure about this?"
"I'm not. It's obvious their background is not simple. Perhaps they come from a hidden family or are the disciples of a demigod. However, I can't confirm it."
"Then...?"
"However, the armor they wore, the weapons they wield, and an S-rank artifact is very too attractive."
Herald fell silent. He could see the greed in his father's eyes.
"Don't worry, we just need to be careful about not injuring them and erase all the clues linking us to the matter. At worst, we will return the artifact if the situation gets out of control. I don't believe they dare to kill a Count Noble of the kingdom if I insist it's a misunderstanding."
"I understand, father."
"Good, for now... we will make the first move tonight. If it fails, then we will implement plan B tomorrow."
