"Boring...Boring...Boring...A dog juggling? Annoying...," lying on the sofa, I muttered as I scrolled through the Tik Tok videos.
"Really, how boring. There is nothing interesting to do." I sighed.
My life is so boooooring.
Ah! Don't get me wrong, my life is pretty good.
My appearance is above average, I just graduated in programming and already got a job at a good company as a junior programmer. I have a good family that has a lot of money, and I also have a lot of friends - I never lacked anything. But mind you, just because life is good doesn't mean it's interesting.
When you have a lot, you want what you don't have because there's no fun in what you already have. This is a phrase that well defines the capitalist personality of the modern human being.
I'm in my early twenties, and I've done a lot of things that many would consider 'interesting' and 'radical', like skydiving, surfing, and mountaineering. It was fun and exciting, but only the first time. After that, I didn't see any fun anymore.
I've also tried virtual games, but it's all repetitive, and the fanbase of most games is just a bunch of idiots venting their frustrations on other people in-game.
I'm talking about you, XxXDiverNoobXxX! I'll have my revenge!
Anyway...
Fortunately, there were a lot of things left for me to experience, until the pandemic came. Now unable to leave the house, the only pastime I minimally enjoy is staying on my cell phone, looking for something interesting to read or watch.
That's how I found something that got my attention.
Leaving Tik Tok, I opened my Facebook and started to see the posts, when suddenly, an interesting advertisement appeared.
It was an advertisement for a game that looked like a D&D-style RPG, as in the advertisement, it showed a character sheet. Since I played D&D sometimes with friends, this ended up catching my attention, and I clicked on the advertisement link.
Many would have knocked me over the head for clicking on a random link on Facebook, but a bored person will do anything to relieve their boredom.
When the site loaded, I was surprised. The page was well done. In the middle, there was the character sheet, and around the sheet, there was an extremely realistic and interesting cinematic playing in the background, like knights fighting a huge dragon, and elves fighting orcs. It looked like a cinematic from Lord of the Rings.
There were many sites like this, with cinematics in the background as you create your character or account. But the difference is that cinematic's animation seemed to be a real world, with real people down to the smallest detail. I wonder how much they spent to make something of this level of realism.
Interesting.
I'm not gonna lie, I spent a lot of time watching this cinematic before I even looked at the character sheet.
After seeing the cinematic until I was satisfied, I looked at the character sheet, and again I was somewhat surprised. I had initially thought it was a D&D-style character creation sheet or at least similar, but I was dead wrong.
"What are your powers? What's your story? Aren't they giving too much freedom here?" I muttered in disbelief.
Thinking a little, I concluded that maybe it was a text game, or maybe they made this site to get suggestions for characters created by random people to later implement in some future game or story.
It's not the first time that happens.
But whatever the case, I was excited because I liked the idea of being able to write whatever I wanted to create my character.
"Let's start. First question, 'What is your race?' "
It starts like this, huh? Honestly, if there were options, it would be a lot easier. Since there are no options, I can choose whatever I want, and that's a problem for me.
You see, I am a very indecisive girl.
If I'm not given options, I'll probably spend hours thinking about what I want - I'm that kind of person.
Well, since I don't want to take forever to decide, let's go by elimination.
First, I don't like characters that don't have a human form. So animal races, like Fenix and Dragons, I'll take it out of the options. I know, dragons and phoenixes are cool, but I prefer humanoids.
Going to humanoid races, ugly races such as orcs and goblins will also be excluded from the options. Many may like orcs and similar races, but I'm the type of person who prefers a more elegant and beautiful aesthetic, than brutal and wild.
All that aside, there are a few races left, at least the ones I remember. They are Elf, Vampire, Fairy, Spirit, and...well, Humans.
Let's take Spirit and Human out. I don't want a spirit character, because there are many forms of spirit, and it would be another torture to choose one type. I don't want a human either, because having a human character is so boring.
Now there is left Elf, Vampire, and Fairy.
Honestly, I like elves, but they are almost always the most chosen race in most RPGs, which makes me think twice about choosing the elven race.
Now there are two options left, and my torture begins now.
Vampire?
or
Fairy?
Sigh...I'd like to get this over with and be able to merge the two races into something like a vampiric fae, but unfortunately, that option doesn't exist.
Both races looked good, each has its advantages, and I'm not talking about power issues; I'm talking purely about aesthetics.
After a long time of mulling over the choices, I hesitantly decided to go with the Vampire race. There was no real reason to choose Vampire over Fairy, I simply needed to choose one of the two.
Writing the race, I read the second question, which asked about my character's gender, and I choose Female.
The third question was about my character's name, and after researching names for a female vampire on Google, I decided to go with Rosalie Vlad Dracul.
The fourth question was about my character's appearance, and I promptly wrote: Long white hair, blood red eyes, divinely beautiful appearance, dressed in a Victorian-era Gothic dress.
The next question was about my character's powers. As there are no restrictions, I can choose any power, this includes anime, novels, and movie character powers.
Thinking about it would be a headache, so I will just write in the powers of two of my favorite vampires, and other useful power.
So I wrote:
- All of Alucard's powers from the anime Hellsing.
- All of Cadis Etrama Di Raizel's powers from the manhwa Noblesse.
- All powers of the vampires in the game V Rising.
Aaaaand that's it.
I could write down a trillion different powers, but hey, my goal is to make a vampire, not a Level One Hundred Nine-tailed Ninja Sayajin Vampire Overlord.
And I must say, this combination of powers is pretty good. Alucard and Raizel for the offensive part, and the vampiric powers of V Rising for the defense. How so you ask? Let me explain!
Alucard can absorb the souls of the people he killed by sucking the blood of the victims, and with that, in addition to being able to use the powers of those he absorbed, he can use the souls as an extra life. And that, combined with Raizel's powers, which are so powerful that Raizel needs to use his own life force... See where I'm getting at? Using Alucard's absorption powers, my character could use all of Raizel's powers with no problem!
About the V Rising's vampiric powers, simplifying, my character can simply build a lot of useful things, as well as her own castle, just using blood essence, which in general is just blood.
The fifth question was about my character's backstory. Fortunately, I was already creating a backstory in my head for my character after choosing the race.
The backstory of my character, Rosalie Vlad Dracul goes like this:
__________
Born of the night, Rosalie Vlad Dracul is the firstborn of the Vampires. A being that is darkness itself. As old as the first civilization, she has existed since the dawn of humanity.
She dwelt among the first of men - she saw kingdoms rise, and their fall.
As a creature of the night, as well as the oldest and most powerful, Rosalie was feared as a monster, an abomination, and in some cases, a Demon Goddess. Her profane name became legend, from legend to myth, and from myth to folklore.
However, none of that mattered to her.
Bored with the endless war of men, the first creature of the night lay down to sleep, hoping to find a more interesting world when she rises again.
__________
And that's it. I think it's good enough.
Now for the last question.
"What is your character's home world?"
"Wait, is this question serious? Can I choose the world too? That's strange. Why do I feel like someone is going to use this as the base of a half-baked fanfic?"
....Anyway, I don't care, as long as it's interesting and credit is given.
So, I wrote that Rosalie's home world is Harry Potter. Why? Because it would be interesting to see a super OP vampire turning the wizarding world upside down.
What? Didn't like it? Sue me!
Ahem!
After finishing everything, I clicked on [Create], and a loading login screen appeared.
Looking at the loading screen, I smiled. I don't really care about what will happen to my character, because in the end, it was interesting to create such a character from scratch.
While I was still looking at the cell phone screen, I suddenly felt tired and sleepy. Looking at the clock, I saw that two hours had passed since I started creating my character.
Wow, time really flew by. To me, it felt like it was just a few minutes.
"This was fun, but I'm out of patience to wait for the page to load, I'm just going to sleep at once...yawh~" I mumbled and yawned. Without thinking twice, I lie down comfortably on the couch and fall into Morpheus's world.
As I slept, however, the open web page on my cellphone had finished loading, and a message was printed in place of the character sheet.
[Thanks for participating, have a nice trip!]
In the next instant, I was no longer on the couch.
This is a rewrite. This chapter is very similar to the old one, but I changed a lot. And only this one will be similar, as I'm going to completely change the story from here.
