"The first time I met Lord Cardis was that day you ran away from the palace. That Cassius bastard dared to set his dirty hands on you," Prince Edrik said, gently caressing my face.

I shoved his hands away and said, "Why don't you say that you stalked me."

"Well, I did." He accepted without even hesitating. "But I was late to track you since I never assumed you really would do something like that. When I reached the shore after concluding Cassius's misery, I glimpsed the man for the first time," he said, smiling.

"You killed Cassius?" I asked. I couldn't believe my ears.

It was true that I wanted to punish Cassius for what he did but I never considered killing him. I didn't know how I would face Lady Evelyn ever again.

After all those years, Lady Evelyn had finally acknowledged her feelings for Cassius. And that man died because of me, without even pursuing his love.
