25% The Superior Spider (Marvel) / Chapter 1: Chapter 1: Damn, I'm Spiderman

Kapitel 1: Chapter 1: Damn, I'm Spiderman

Hiya.

My name is Peter.

When I was a kid my grandfather introduced me to comic books, and ever since then I have been a fan of anything comic-related. My favorite universe being Marvel. With my favorite hero being Spider-Man.

The original one, Peter Parker of Earth-616 just to be clear.

Given just how many different versions of Spider-Man, and spider people in general, Marvel has created. Honestly it has made my head spin just trying to keep track of them all.

But I'm getting off topic.

So let me return to telling you just how much Spider-Man affected my life.

Because seriously, you wouldn't believe my story unless I told it to you. So I am.

Hope you enjoy it.

-----------------------------------------

Sitting in my living room apartment, beers in our hands and pizza and chicken wings set out on plates in the table in front of us, my roommates and I were watching Spider-Man: No Way Home.

The four of us having been watching the Spider-Man films all day long. From the Tobey Maguire films, to the Andrew Garfield films, and now we are on the MCU Tom Holland Spider-Man films.

Our reason for doing this is because we are all huge Marvel fans, and we just decided to watch all the films so we could have a discussion about them.

You know, normal Marvel fan stuff.

As the No Way Home film came to an end, with Peter swinging in his newly created and comic accurate red and blue suit, I picked up the remote and turned the television off. Before placing it back on the table and looking at all of my roomates.

"Well I think we can all agree as always, those movies rocked." I spoke.

"Yeah, they did."

"Absolutely."

"Of course. But I still can't believe Maguire and Holland got trilogies in regards to their films and Garfield only got a duology."

"I know right." I agreed.

Since out of all three Spider-Men actors Andrew Garfield is my favorite.

I just always felt connected to him more than Maguire and Holland.

Which definitely has nothing to do with the fact he was in a relationship with Gwen Stacey. Who I shipped Peter the most with in the comics, and wrote several fanfictions about them together.

Okay, maybe it has a little something to do with that.

But that's not the only reason I like Andrew's Spider-Man the best. I swear.

Probably.

You know what, I like him the best and will leave it at that.

"Hey, why do you guys think Felicia Hardy never really appeared in any of the films?"

"Likely because Sony owns the rights to Spider-Man." I spoke. Taking another sip of my beer.

"Could be? But who knows, maybe she'll be cast in a major role in a future Spider-Man film."

"She might. And boy, wouldn't that be something."

"Close your mouth there dude, we can see your drool coming out." I spoke.

My roommates and I sharing a laugh.

But in all seriousness I can admit I would like to see Felicia Hardy take a major role in a Spider-Man film.

It would be interesting to see the unique dynamic between her and Spider-Man on the big screen. As well as how much of their relationship they can show in the length of a film. Since there's a complex one.

Enemies, allies, frenemies, friends with benefits, crime fighting partners, etc. The list goes on and on of what those two are.

Just like Batman and Catwoman in DC comics.

Though again, I wouldn't mind seeing that relationship of theirs on the big screen.

Especially since I Peter and Felicia are my second most favorite Spider-Man ship.

I've also written several fanfictions about them.

Hell, this one time after a couple of drinks I wrote a rather risque fanfiction about Peter, Gwen, and Felicia in a polyamorous relationship.

Which was honestly some of my best work ever.

But it was only a one-shot.

Since I could never really develop a good story to write about those three in a relationship. But who knows, maybe an idea for one will come to me one day.

My friends and I continued discussing the eight films. Until eventually we found ourselves discussing Spider-Man Peter Parker himself. Our likes and dislikes in regards to his character, our favorite storylines involving him, and what if scenarios like the Marvel: What If? show did.

One by one we went around, until it was my turn.

I finished off my beer, before putting it on the table. It being my tenth one of the night. "Okay, okay. Ah, what I like about Peter. His intelligence, definitely. His powers. What I dislike about him. His over commitment to doing the right thing." I spoke.

"Huh? Peter, what does that even mean?"

"I mean Peter commits way too much time to being Spider-Man rather than living his life as Peter Parker. Which causes all sorts of problems." I explained to my friends.

"I get what you're saying. But he's Spider-Man. You're saying you don't want him to be a hero?"

"No, no." I immediately replied. Rubbing a hand through my hair. "It's like. Balance. Yeah. Peter absolutely sucks at balancing his life as Spider-Man and Peter Parker. Which usually leads to the latter suffering. I mean, how many times could Peter have achieved something he truly wanted if he chose to simply just be himself than run off and be Spider-Man?"

"I mean I get what you're saying man. But Spider-Man is a hero and that's what heroes do."

"Yeah, but he doesn't need to be the one doing the heroing all the time." I replied. "The reason I think he does is because of all the guilt he feels over the death of his uncle Ben. Which if I'm being honest with you all I don't even really think is Peter's fault. Since if any of us were in his situation involving the robber that always kills Ben I think most've us would've ignored him as well. Powers or no. Right? I mean I know I would have."

Since going after a robber with a weapon is something a normal person would hardly ever do. Even with powers. Since their mentality likely wouldn't allow it.

"I admit that I would."

"Me too."

"Yeah, I'm the same."

"Right." I said. "Now another thing I dislike about Peter is how he never fully utilized his intelligence. I mean the guy has an IQ that is said to be on the same level as Reed Richards. He's also been acknowledged by some of the smartest people in the Marvel universe like Tony Stark and Hank Pym. Yet most of the time when he starts his career as Spiderman he ends up selling photos of himself to Jameson. A guy who constantly rags on him. Man, with Peter's IQ and creativity he should've been making bank and rolling in cash. But no. That doesn't happen for years, and why? Likely because he generally puts Spider-Man first, or doesn't feel its right to abuse his intelligence. But if you think about it he's truly not abusing anything. Plus, how can you take care of other people if you don't take care of yourself first?"

"Alright Peter, you've made some good points."

"Yeah, I've never really thought about Spider-Man in that way before."

"Dude, you really love Spider-Man don't you? That's the only way you could've thought up all this stuff in regards to him."

"Guilty as charged." I replied.

Seriously, I love Spider-Man/Peter Parker. I just get upset knowing that if he did a few things slightly differently he wouldn't suffer all the time. Like balance his civilian and hero life more. Just like Otto Octavious did when he took over Peter's body and became the Superior Spider-Man.

Sure he began taking things too far, but Ock had the right idea.

To bad Peter could never come to that conclusion on his own.

Oh well.

My friends and I discussed Spider-Man a bit more before we all began yawning.

When this happened we all decided to turn into bed for the night.

But before I did I headed for the bathroom, since I needed to piss.

Arriving I stepped inside and handled my business.

I then got ready to leave, only to slip on a wet towel and then crack my skull against the toilet.

Bringing my life to an end.

Or so I thought.

----------------------------------

My eyes shooting open I brought my hands to the side of my head, gritting my teeth after I did.

Since not only did I have the worst headache of my entire life, but images for some reason were flashing through my mind.

However I soon realized those images weren't simply images.

No, they were memories.

Memories of the person I had become.

For I was them, but also myself.

As for the person in question I had become it was Peter Benjamin Parker.

Also known as Spider-Man.

All I can say when I discovered this is, damn I'm Spiderman.
