Now, time for some clarifications. What is a Jiao? Well, in most cases, Jiaos are all identified as Dragons in the Chinese context. They have control over water and look extremely alike. In fact, there were only some texts that refer to them as a type of Dragon. But even then, they are considered as part of the Dragon family. So I don’t know what’s with the Jiao evolving into Dragon here. But we can take it as though the Jiao is the weaker version of a Dragon then, since that’s what the author wants!

Also, trivia! The raws for the Three Horned God Jiao is the exact name for the godly weapon used by Erlang Shen, a Chinese God warrior with a third seeing eye. He is most well known in well, no surprises here, Journey to the West once more for wanting to capture Sun Wukong back in the earlier days. Cheers!
