The ships were not the size of a typical galley or medieval galleon; they were the size of an Earth aircraft carrier, with the capacity to transport more than five thousand soldiers comfortably. But it was not the crew that made them the masters of the skies.
Those red energy barriers were the real obstacle, the real power behind the military dominance of those beings. During the weeks in which the alliance had been formed, we had met many times, and in all of them, the problem was the same: how to carry out the ground combat.
Although the presence of our Alaharian allies guaranteed us a defense against the magical attack that could come from the ships, their mana would sooner or later run out, and no matter how much we wanted to, if by then we were not fighting on land, we would be lost.
