Seven years later in Mumbai...
Irritated with the constant vibration of her phone, Jagadhaatreyi pulled it out. She took one look at the caller, though and immediately stepped out of her meeting.
"Vijay," she greeted. "How are you?"
"Jags, boss has gone crazy, we need you," the normally unflappable Vijay sounded frantic.
Jags went cold. "What happened?" she asked.
"Remember how we threatened Sameer to give up drugs?"
She shuddered. "Yes."
"Firdaus went to see him today and came back with a bag full of another lethal dose. I don't know if Sameer went and procured more or whether he had some left over, but Sameer wasn't there, and Firdaus – I think he took the whole bunch himself."
"What?!"
"He looked strangely disconnected and the security people saw him going up to the roof. We tried to go after him, but he won't let us through. He's locked us out, mumbling something about you. We are in the process of breaking the door down, but we need you here."
"Get Sameer."
