"This is Heather Storm reporting from NNC News"
Heather was flying across the cities skyline in the NNC News Helicopter.
"The destruction from last night's meteor shower has been on a massive scale, what was expected to be a small shower causing slight damage has ruined this prosperous city." She continued.
The helicopter turned in the rainy sky and flew towards the apartment building on the outskirts.
"Emergency services have been working throughout the night to help those in need. Over 5000 firefighters from here and nearby counties have been tackling the raging fires and searching the destroyed buildings for survivors. I must add that the current death count is in the 10,000's."
In the distance an apartment building shook and then started to collapse, creating a large dust cloud, which passed through the rain.
"As you can see, the aftermath of last night's incident is still causing continuous destruction." She continued. She looked down below and noticed a large gathering of people at a supermarket. "However as you can see below, the city is coming together to support one another."
Suddenly the dust cloud hit the helicopter. It shook the news helicopter violently and the visibility from inside decreased.
"We have just hit a large dust cloud. We hope to have visibility again soon." Heather reported, trying to stay calm and not panic. She looked across to her cameraman George who was visibly shaken.
The Pilot was working hard to keep control of the Helicopter. The heat inside was increasing and the pilot tried to lift then higher out of the dust.
As they rose and left the dust cloud they looked below and noticed something growing out of the ground.
"Are you getting this?" screamed Heather in shock.
George started to concentrate again and focused his camera on the hill that was growing from the wreckage of the apartment building.
"As you can see, a strange tortoise like creature has appeared from underground." reported Heather.
The creature was covered in rubble and dirt. With its rubble covered scaley shell being washed clean by the Heavy pour of rain. It's face from above looked like a tuskless boar, with a long snout and burning red eyes.
"What the F$#K" is that?" exclaimed George.
"I, I, I don't know..." mumbled Heather.
"We need to go, now!" shouted the pilot from the front.
The Tortoise like creature was huge, the size of several football fields.
"No, a couple more minutes!" replied Heather who had gathered herself again. "This is Heather Storm reporting for NNC News, as you can see below, a strange creature has appeared!"
"There are groups of people running away from it towards the supermarket we saw earlier," she continued. "They seem to have left one person behind who seems to be routed on the spot."
'Run you idiot' she thought to herself.
*BANG*
Something hit the helicopter.
*BANG BANG*
"Something hit us!" shouted the pilot.
The helicopter started to beep as the engine slowly lost momentum.
*BANG BANG*
George focused the camera as a wave off crazed pigeons flew into the helicopter.
"They are killing themselves!" shouted Heather.
"I'm losing control" replied the pilot, "I'm going to have to land us somewhere."
"Guys, GUYS!" Shouted George, "Look!"
George pointed towards the Giant tortoise like creature. It's huge red eyes were staring at the lone person in front of it.
It slowly opened its mouth, unleashing a flaming inferno on the city. The flames engulfed everything they touched, growing exponentially.
The suicidal pigeons exploded in flames as they hit the Helicopter.
*SMASH*
A pigeon smashed through the window on the side of the Helicopter straight into George. George dropped the camera.
Heather looked towards him, his mouth agape as he died in shock. The pigeon has exploded as it touched him, destroying his ribcage and exposing the remains of the organs beneath.
Heather grabbed the camera and pointed it towards the tortoise like creature. "This is Heather Storm reporting from the NNC News Helicopter, this is my last report. The city is burning..."
*BANG BANG*
More birds hit the Helicopter.
*SMASH*
"We are going down" shouted the pilot, blood pumping from the remains of his left arm that had been hit by an exploding pigeon.
"....stay safe everyone..." she reported. She focused on the tortoise like creature, in front of it the man still stood, seemingly immune to the flames.
...
12 hours later.
Steve opened the fridge door, Alice and Clem behind him. The kitchen was no longer a kitchen, it was a crematorium.
The corpses of 3 large lion like monsters, were spread across the room, torched black from the searing heat. The kitchen itself was charcoal black, with nothing but ash remaining.
The fridge had gotten extremely hot during the flames, but for some reason they hadn't been killed by the heat. They didn't understand why they had survived, but they were grateful for it.
They stepped over searing corpses, Steve and Clem helping Alice to walk. Clem walked towards one of the lions and touched it. Upon her touch the lion crumbled into ash, engulfing them all in soot.
"What is this?" asked Alice as she wiped herself clean.
"I don't know?" replied Steve.
"It's the remains of those monsters that were chasing me, I don't know what caused the fire, but thank God!" Clem replied.
They exited the building and arrived on the main street.
The City was destroyed. The buildings were all black, some still smouldering slightly. Roads were cracked and un-even, with mounds of rubble gathered everywhere.
Steve lifted Alice over his shoulder and slowly walked down the street.
"Where are you heading?" shouted Clem from behind.
"Out of the city!" He exclaimed, "Where do you want to go Alice?"
"Anywhere that's not here!" she replied.
They walked down the street, past the remains of the supermarket, multiple charred corpses of both people and the lion like creatures littered the road. A helicopter was crashed into a nearby building and several firetrucks were mangled together in the distance.
....
Jack awoke, inhaling a deep breath. He stood up and looked around, the city destroyed.
His fingers felt warm, he looked down at them. Between his thumb and index finger was a small flaming orb, inside was the face of a tuskless boar.
