Kapitel 16: Shadows of the Past

Scarlett moved through the midst of the tables in the café, while carrying a tray and wearing an apron. At the counter, Nathan was at the counter making espresso. They look at each other for a moment and Scarlett smiled at him giving him a wink and responded with a kiss blown at her.

When the bell above the door jingled, Scarlett froze. A tall man in a suit stepped inside, his eyes scan the room like a hawk searching for its prey. His presence made Scarlett feel uncomfortable.

"Victor Grayson" Scarlett said, her voice barely above a whisper. It had been years since she'd seen him, but she could still recall his, piercing stare. He had a way of making her feel vulnerable, as if he could see right through her. She put her tray down and rubbed her hands on her apron, trying to slow down her heartbeat.

 Victor spotted her and approached them with a smile. He walked over to Nathan at the counter.
