Kapitel 21: The New Charlie Robinson

<<Francine>>

"One cheeseburger, a small french fries, and a Pepsi coming right up!"

Nicole sat on the counter, staring at me with admiration.

"You sure adapt well," She paused, scanning the kitchen for any signs of life. "Princess."

I smirked, flipping the patty. "Well, I learned from the best."

"I'll assume that you meant me."

"Assume whatever you want, Anderson."

It was finally the moment I was waiting for. I was leading the life of Charlie Robinson, the sarcastic and witty tomboy while she was leading the life of the Crowned Princess of Titania. I wondered how she was doing. Could she keep up with everything? Was brother being helpful and informative?

I had no clue.

"Make it quick, Charles. The customers don't have all day!"

"I am. I am."

"I'll wait outside."

I shook my head, chuckling.

This was going to be interesting.

---

"We are all gathered here to announce our very own Employee Of The Month." The boss said

"What's the employee of the month?"

Nicole whispered back. "It's an award given to the employee who has the best performance. Their photographs are hung on the wall with the caption 'Employee Of The Month'."

"Nicole Anderson!"

Nicole's head snapped towards the boss's direction as the entire staff clapped for her. The boss gave her a grateful smile and she stood up reciprocating the smile. I eventually started clapping because I didn't want to look out of place and congratulated her.

Nicole walked up and stood beside the boss who handed her a crest and a certificate. A few photographs were taken and the entire staff was dismissed- save Nicole.

I walked out of the room and busied myself with the work of the day.

---

"Who's that hottie?" Nicole asked, stupidly staring at the man who was sitting alone in a table, sketching something.

I said, focusing on my work."I think we should be working, Nicole, rather than stupidly staring at hot guys."

She raised her eyebrows, a smirk on her face. "So, you think he's hot."

"It was your words, Anderson. Not mine."

She shrugged, going back to fantasizing about the guy. "Whatever you say, Eli. Whatever you say."

"Charlie. It's Charlie."

Her smirk never wiped from her face. "Charlie would never, ever label a guy 'hot' even if her life depended on it." She continued, "But I'll still call you Charlie because it would save you from a lot of trouble. Speaking of trouble, how do you think the current 'Princess' is handling your responsibilities?"

I will not lie. I had thought about this every day since the minute we switched places. None of our lives were easy, but if we were to rate the difficulties of our lives then mine was a nine out of ten. I am not purposely saying ten, because it would scare people off.

No wonder I wanted a normal life for a while.

"Just as I am, per-my bad-probably."

"Yeah, may-hey, hey, hottie alert! Hottie alert! He's coming over to the counter! Oh my god, oh my god! He's coming over!"

"Didn't you have a- what do you guys call that- 'something' for my brother?"

"First of all, we call that a 'thing' for someone and secondly, no. We're not looking for anything serious. It was just simply goofing around."

I muttered under my breath, keeping my head low. "So does brother."

Nicole narrowed her eyes, her voice in a stage-whisper. "He's talking to the Samantha, the cashier and she's clearly flirting with him. What the hell?!"

"How does it bother you, Nicole?"

She growled. "How does it bother me?! After all these weeks of serving tables, there is this one hot guy who walks into this restaurant and is also some sort of an artist and Samantha flirts with him?!"

"No hot guys walk into this restaurant?"

She sighed, her head hung low. "Nope. Not a single one. The probability of hot guys walking in here is one in a million."

"You sound so pathetic right now. If girls, all around the world, thought this way - if their world only revolved around boys, no one will stand up for themselves and fight for independence. Girls will be dependent on boys again and the history will repeat itself."

"You sure sound like a motivational speaker. Did you get awards for speaking on 'Girls' Independence'?"

"No. I didn't."

"Well, too bad. You deserve one."

She walked out of the kitchen with the order, leaving me all by myself.

---

"He had sparkly, soft brown eyes. He was around six feet, broad-shouldered and my-"

Samantha was blabbering about the hottie who was, apparently, 'flirting' with her. She was giving a detailed explanation on how he looked- how soft his hair was, how his brown eyes were soft and smooth as the chocolate, etc. etc. etc.

I wondered for a second, 'how could anyone know the texture of someone's hair just by looking at it?'

Anyways, that was not the case. I didn't know what they exactly talked about but Samantha loved to say that he gave her his number and wanted to meet her soon. That really felt like a blatant lie. From what Nicole told me about Samantha, she was a golddigger. She fell for any guy who had - number one, a bank balance. Number two, good looks, and finally number three- which was not really important for her- a sense of humor.

"She still blabbering?"

"Uh-huh."

I pinched the bridge of the nose, preventing an already forming headache. "She sure can talk for twelve hours on that guy if possible."

"She intends to."

"-And that is it, we'll be going on that date, and from that day onwards- my life is going to be awesome!"

---

"Ouch, my back hurts! How do you stand for so long?"

"Habit, my friend, habit."

"One hell of a habit-ow!"

She chuckled, placing the keys on the table. "You are learning quickly. Charlie would be so proud!"

"Yeah, she shall-my bad- will be."

We both chuckled.

"You still need practice."

I nodded, unable to form any words.

"Good night, I'll see you tomorrow?"

"Yes."

She walked out of Charlie's - I mean, my apartment and after sitting on the couch for about an hour- dealing with the pain, I dragged myself out of it to freshen up and get ready for bed. Today was, indeed, a pretty interesting day.

My cell phone rang, pulling me out of my thoughts.

"Hello?"

"Why didn't you ever tell me this?!"
