The memory of Midori and Ryouichi's last fiery exchange at the family register office still crackled in the air, leaving the lady behind the counter with a smile strained as thin as a spider's thread.
Nevertheless, she was a professional person who was committed to her job, thus she greeted both with a voice as cheerful as she could muster.
"Good morning, esteemed Master and Madam. May I help you further?"
Midori, bright as the sunshine, slid the signed divorced papers toward the counter lady and smiled. "We would like to apply for a divorce, please."
The counter lady pressed her lips together into an awkward smile and shifted her gaze to Ryouichi, who looked like he was used to walking around with dark clouds hanging over his head.
"Yes," he confirmed. "Please."
"Alright..."
The lady took the divorce papers, took a form out of a drawer, and started writing on the form.
"Please take a seat while I process your divorce appeal."
