20% The Pharaoh and a Jade / Chapter 2: Dream

Kapitel 2: Dream

"A Storm was coming but that's not what she felt. It was adventure on the wind and it shivered down her spine"~ A t t i c u s

Jade's eyes are squinting as she's trying to shield her face from the rays of the sun that's coming from the outside. It's so bright, the sun is as hot as a burning fire blended with a clear blue sky that's so beautiful that Picasso would've loved to paint.

She can feel her bare feet touching a warm stone ground.

Her dress is shuffling beneath her as she's trying to decipher her surroundings. Confused, she looked around and all she saw was this magnificent open space with large pillars filled with strange markings that overlooked the expanse of sandy hills and mountains.

Gigantic statues that look like big cats, and other types of animals that seem like it's guarding the place. These statues are everywhere and if she focuses her attention long enough it seems like they're watching her as if they're alive. Giving Jade the chills.

'It's hot and humid. Where am I?'

Jade thought as she wrapped her hands around her torso. Even though the air is humid she couldn't help but be scared. There is something about this place that's giving her the chills. Everywhere she look at this huge place there seems to be a touch of elegance and luxury. Jade might not be born rich but she can tell everything here is made of gold among other things.

'Familiar. Why, though?'

Then a flash of bright color caught at the corner of her eye. Immediately she turned.

Far ahead she can see a massive throne that is made of gold and an animal fur draped around it.

Then Jade saw him. He is staring right at her like a predator to his prey. He is the most impressive man she'd ever seen in her entire existence, and massive. Even though his face is a blur besides his golden hawk eyes. Jade can tell he has a strong build, fine jewelry hanging all over his body, long black hair to his golden skin. And a headpiece that has a symbol of a snake in the middle of it.

'Who is he?'

Then he slowly stood up and started walking towards her. Jade's feet are frozen to the ground and she can't move. Her heart is pounding and hammering as he gets closer and closer. He looks like he is gliding on the ground like some kind of God, and then he's right in front of her. His amber eyes deeply staring at her longingly. He raised his hand as if to touch Jade's face and then open his mouth as if he's about to say something..

"My love—

BRRIIINNNGGGG!!!

Jade Huang jolted wide awake and almost fell off the bed,"Oh my God! What was that?" she said while cupping both her cheeks that are flaming red.

"That weird man acted like he's going to kiss me or something. What a crazy dream, huh? If only dreams can be real I wouldn't mind being kissed by a hunk like that," grinning like a loon she started getting out of bed.

"Whatever, let me start getting ready before I get yelled at by Mom."

As she's putting her bed in place she suddenly notices the time.

10:45 am

"Oh my God!!!" Jade yelled again this time much louder. Horrified at how long she slept, she started running to the bathroom.

"I can't believe it's already past 10 o'clock! I'm going to be late for my flight!"

Loud knocks then came in through the bedroom, "Jade Rose Huang! Are you awake yet? You're going to be late for your flight!" Adeline Huang yells. Her Mom.

"Sh*t! Yes mom! I'm awake, I'm getting a shower now!" She yelled back.

"Okay you better! Breakfast is ready, come down when you're done," Her mom replied.

Jade hurriedly went into the bathroom to brush her teeth facing the mirror. Her eyes which are still swollen from sleep are shining with rage and her hair still disheveled.

"Ugh! I look ridiculous! I'm definitely blaming this whole mess on that hunk from my dream! I mean, come on. It's not my fault that I'm about to get kissed by a handsome guy, right?!"

With a huff she went and got a shower. After that she picked out her outfit for the flight. She chose a white shirt, denim jacket, with black jeans and white sneakers. She then started brushing her waist long caramel hair and put it in a ponytail.

Jade is leaving today for a University in England where her mom was born and raised, to study Medicine. She just recently graduated high school in Beijing and now she's fulfilling her dreams of going to England to experience life there.

That's right she is of mixed race and to be exact a half-British and half-Chinese. Which by the way her peers in school loved to tease her about. Because of her unique appearance, they feel like she doesn't belong. It's really not uncommon to see half babies in this modern world we're living in, but kids her age are just ruthless, close-minded, and uneducated.

And did she say bullies? Most of the time she doesn't feel the need to even say or do anything back. Because what's the point, if a good school with a higher grade of education can't straighten them up how much more an ordinary girl like her. Nothing feels better than killing them with kindness.

Jade's genes mostly came from her Mom. Adeline is a thorough caucasian with typical blonde hair and blue eyes while her Dad is full Chinese. Her white skin, caramel colored hair, blue eyes and a button nose is what she got from her mom, while the shape of her eyes which are slightly slanted is what she inherited from her dad.

She'd been called alien-looking all her life because of her weird countenance. And she'd cried multiple times through it all. If her loving family wasn't there to support her this whole time she would've already crumbled and fell into despair a long time ago.

Jade's parents met when her mom went as a tourist in China, fell in love at first sight to her dad, got married and then settled down here. They had three kids, two boys and one girl. She's the youngest and their little princess. Growing up she was always sheltered by her parents and two older brothers because they know that life was very challenging for her here.

Not only was she mocked, teased, and bullied at school but they also gossip about her family and talk about how it's not normal and it's against their culture.

One time a girl approached Jade at her old school and told her, "You know you're actually not bad looking. If you were full Chinese you would be considered very beautiful here. But it's just a shame that you're not".

After that she started to feel self-conscious and her self-esteem went down. It was so bad that she can't even bear to go to school anymore.

'Why am I even here if nobody accepts me?'

Then after years, months and long nights of pondering and surviving day by day. Jade finally made a decision. And that is to live somewhere that's not China.

It was a tough decision for her family because they've always sheltered her like a fragile flower and knowing that she's going to be out there by herself alone was a big concern for them, especially for Jade's brothers who are very protective of her.

But they all know her situation, they know she has no friends here. It doesn't matter that her brothers would always protect and cheer her up, something in her wants out of this hateful place.
