Kapitel 1: Dress to Impress

Lilia stared off into space, half worried, half anxious. Her stomach was in knots, the same could be said about her thoughts.

It was never a good thing to be so anxious, especially so early in the morning. She couldn't help it. This would be the first time she'd be meeting her future husband after all.

She slowly stepped out of her bed. Long ago she could hear the hushed whispers of servants. Everyone was in a panic. This wouldn't be a marriage of love, but an arranged marriage.

It was no wonder the house was tense.

Lilia slowly moved to her closet and picked out a lilac-colored dress and white flats. She smiled at her reflection in the mirror.

She was truly beautiful. She had pale white skin and an oval face shape. Her large brown almond eyes were framed by thick eyelashes. Her thick dark brown hair lay straight down her back, and her bangs brushed against her arched eyebrows.

Her appearance practically screamed beautiful and delicate.

Lilia smiled nervously and her mouth shook uncontrollably. She couldn't help but think about how unfair this situation was.

She had someone she liked. Smart, and capable, her future husband was probably the complete opposite.

Fat tears came out of her eyes and rolled down her cheeks. Her room door creaked open and Lilia hurriedly sniffled.

"Oh, Lilia." A soothing voice spoke.

Lilia turned. "Mom!" She cried out running to the woman. Lilia couldn't help the sob that rocked through her body.

"I don't want to marry him, Mom!" Lilia cried out.

Her mother placed a comforting hand on her back. "I know, you just have to go with it for a while. Your father and I will figure a way of out this." Her mother spoke.

"Besides, the man you're marrying seems to be your type." Her mother continued. "He's handsome, knows his way around a company." She complimented.

Lilia pouted, but she didn't cry again. Her mother picked up a tissue and dabbed her face. "We have to leave soon, don't worry, your father and I will figure something out." Her mother promised.

Lilia didn't say another word and her mother soon left.

Lilia sat down at her vanity and applied a slight amount of blush to her face. She looked vibrant again. She practiced a smile before finally standing.

Lilia opened the door to her room and walked out, a sweet smile on her face. She walked down the lavish halls, and finely decorated walls till she reached the kitchen downstairs.

Pity graced the faces of the servants she saw.

She only smiled and sat at the dining room table. Her father and mother sat across from her.

Her father was a gruff man, although he didn't talk much he adored his wife and only daughter. Her mother on the other hand was an elegant woman, and she enjoyed socializing whenever she could.

Both of her parents wore their best. Her father a custom black suit, and her mother a gray dress.

"When are we leaving?" Lilia asked.

Her parents glanced at each other. "Now." Her mother said.

Lilia glanced at her phone, it was barely noon.

Lilia grimaced.

Her father smiled reassuringly. "This was an old proposal, at dinner we'll discuss the breaking of the arrangement." He smiled.

Lilia smiled back brightly. "Right."
