Elias returned around half an hour later.
Regan had already summoned the head of the castle's treasury to know how much money they had for now.
Evelyn's idea was to buy the farmer's produce and then sell it to citizens at a price more than they would buy at but at a price lower than those traders were selling.
Though the castle would earn in this method, they still need to have some money initially.
And Regan had already thought of lending some of the grain to people who cannot buy.
"Your Highness, I have made the arrangement."
Elias informed his master and Regan nodded his head. He dismissed others and looked at the documents detailing the money with the castle.
All this while, Evelyn had been standing silently in a corner. She looked towards the window where the sky was slowly turning dark and then looked at Regan.
Hesitating for a moment, she finally stepped forward and said
"Your Highness, should I bring dinner?"
Regan didn't even raise his head and shook it in 'no'. Evelyn frowned when she saw this. She couldn't help but look at Elias.
He seemed to be more open in front of the prince so she wished that he would convince him.
Elias was equally concerned. He was about to open his mouth to convince his master when a sound fell in his as well as Regan's ears.
Both the men turned to look at Evelyn whose face was red and eyes wide with horror.
As if it was not enough, another sound followed.
Evelyn was mortified. She put her hand on her stomach which was growling loudly because of her hunger.
In the past, something like this never happened. She had the habit of staying hungry for many days but now…
She wished to run away and hide somewhere but kept her calm and silently lowered her head.
However, she didn't notice the amusement flickering through Regan's eyes. If one could notice carefully, Regan's lips were slightly tilted but his mask hid it well.
He put down the documents in his hands and asked
"You didn't have anything?"
Evelyn was embarrassed but answered his question.
"No, Your Highness."
Regan sighed as he realized that she had been having his dinner with him only.
Living on the battlefield, his meals were not timely and he would just eat whenever he felt hungry.
However, now looking at the thin and petite figure standing in front of him, he thought that he should change this habit of his.
"Go and bring dinner."
A sigh of relief escaped Evelyn's lips when she heard this. She turned around to bring dinner.
A tinge of warmth spread in her heart as she wondered if her master gave this order because he knew that she was hungry.
Though she was not sure, she felt respect for Regan increasing inside her heart. It suddenly didn't feel shameful to be embarrassed like this.
Today, Evelyn, Regan, and Elias had their dinner together.
Looking at how Regan didn't feel uncomfortable with having dinner with her and Elias, Evelyn still felt surprised sometimes.
"What is your name?"
She heard Elias asking as she was having her dinner.
"Evelyn."
She whispered and Elias nodded his head.
"I am Elias."
He introduced and Evelyn nodded her head as well though she had already heard his name when he had been called by the prince before.
Regan silently heard this exchange.
Next, he heard Elias ask Evelyn.
"How did you get this idea of buying the produce of farmers?"
Elias asked curiously.
"In my tribe, we used to do this only. The head of the tribe used to buy all the produce and then sell it to whoever wished to buy it. This way, we could control the prices of the necessary commodities."
Elias nodded his head and was filled with admiration at such a simple and unique arrangement.
However, he looked at the black band on Evelyn's wrist which indicated that she was a slave, and asked curiously
"You tribe? Where is it?"
"Zamorin."
A sharp sound of something being dropped came as soon as Evelyn answered Elias' question.
Evelyn looked at Regan who was looking at her coldly and then back at Elias who looked equally somber.
She felt confused by their sudden reaction.
"You were brought here from Zamorin as a slave?"
She heard Regan asking her coldly. Only then something clicked her and the next moment, she was on her knees on the ground.
"Your Highness…this slave does not have any purpose. Though…I am from Zamorin I don't have any intention of taking revenge."
Elias looked at his master who was looking at Evelyn.
His fists were clenched tightly. He wanted to suggest that his master should immediately sell Evelyn to some other person.
Having someone from Zamorin by his master's side was taking a risk that he didn't want to take.
Elias was aware that the sole person responsible for Zamorin's defeat and Alafaros's victory was his master. It was his master who could fight with hundreds of enemies at the same time and still come out as a winner with some minor injuries.
It was his master who could tame a creature like Lavo who was sent to kill him.
Zamorin's high-ranking nobles were not settled with this defeat.
It could be possible that Evelyn was sent by them to take revenge.
As Elias thought all this, his hand couldn't help but go on his sword but one sharp gaze from Regan and he stopped immediately.
Regan looked at the kneeling Evelyn. Behind his mask, his face was emotionless as he asked Evelyn
"Even if you are not sent by someone, how can I believe that you don't hold me responsible for whatever happened to you? After all, you were brought to Alfaros as a slave from Zamorin …an Empire which I have destroyed."
