The time when Hamil and Rebertha arrived at the opposing tower was around forty minutes in, and seeing as how Hamil planned to gain eight points from making the Forty-five minute mark, he had to destroy the tower in just under five minutes.
The whole building of the tower itself was the size of a small castle so a lot of areas had to be under-watch, but the target itself was only the seemingly tall tower that made itself show in the center of the whole area.
As they both hid around a few bushes, Rebertha first had to tell her plan to destroy the tower. She went in close to Hamil and then started drafting in a certain drawing that simplified the resemblance of the placement of the tower.
"Since my spell would activate in under a four minute time casting, a little bit of disturbance on this spell would ultimately ruin all of my effort and I would have to start all over again. I need you to buy me some time and get them to look your way. So you will go upfront and get their attention while I go on the back of the area and try to get in without getting detected. When I'm inside the tower, that's when I'll start my casting." said Rebertha.
"Can't you just cast the spell here?" asked Hamil.
"No, the distance is too far away. If I need an effective shot, I need to be at least 45 meters near the target."
"..hnn at that distance, you'll surely be a target for the guards. Okay then, if time and attention is all you need then I'll do just that." as Hamil said this he soon stood up from his hiding and then immediately made his way to the tower gate to act as bait.
two students guarding the tower immediately noticed him and soon they didn't made any reservations on attacking the boy.
One student with a bow fired four arrows at his direction and Hamil easily dodged each and every single arrow that came
While another was a huge student who stood on top of the tower and he was carrying a hammer on his back. The moment Hamil came to approach the front of the gate, the boy with the hammer then jumped off from the tower to confront him.
With the heavy head of the hammer falling in first, Hamil immediately took action to defend himself from a falling heavy hammer strike.
'Apolo.' as he called out the black spear in his head, his right hand started to show the symbol of the ruler in a bluish light and not a second later, the spear appeared out of nowhere.
"Hn!" He thrusted the spear upfront to take on the falling hammer strike.
"!!" the huge student was shocked to see a weapon appear out of nowhere but his attack didn't falter, instead his grip tightened even more and his face furrowed even more glaring to Hamil.
"HAAA!!!" the boy with the hammer shouted his cry at this confrontation.
As the two weapons clashed, the impact created a shock that shook the tower ever so slightly. But in ended with Apolo pushing through the hammer and the student off and unto one of the walls.
That confrontation was nothing to Hamil, as if the student with the hammer was but a wall made of wet clay. Hamil had simply pushed him back with his strength.
The student who carried the bow was shock to see his classmate being pushed back. In response to this, he immediately assisted the boy with his arrows.
It was the perfect chance to fire. Since Hamil was in midair, he couldn't move, so the arrows were fired and made their way to Hamil. But Hamil still reacted calmly and soon pulled out a skill.
'Shadow Skin.'
As he called out this skill, his shadow suddenly moved from the ground and soon merge and enveloped all over his body like paint.
Almost all of his body was enveloped by this skill except his neck up to his head. He was still wary to fully captivate a hundred percent merging of this skill so he had to stop at just up to a ninety percent merger.
As the arrow came down falling at such speeds, the moment they came in contact with his skin, they simply broke off, as if they made contact with steel wall itself.
"!!" the bow user was shocked to see his shot fail but soon he then brought out another array of arrows but this time they were enhanced with mana.
Four arrows were simultaneously on the bow and four were fired at the same time.
But as they were shot, Hamil had already landed on the ground back and he immediately ran away from the barrage of arrows.
*Boom!* *Boom!* *Boom!* *Boom!*
The four arrows that fell down on the ground, broke the very floor as if they were bombs that fell from the sky.
"..." Hamil saw such a destructive force from those arrows and thought that it might have been a good idea to dodge those instead of taking them on. He wasn't fully sure if taking such a powerful attack was a good idea since he still hasn't tested the very limits of the Shadow skin skill.
'Hmm, I'm only seeing two students so far…but the other two can't be found…I have to find them so that I could secure a safe chance for Rebertha to attack.' thought Hamil as he kept running to find the missing kids.
Meanwhile, Rebertha on the other hand was already making her way closer into the tower. One thing to know about Rebertha was that she only had one special element she was at the process of mastering.
And that was the lightning element.
The Dumis family was just like the Dottingham family where they too produced very powerful lineages of kin. While the Dottingham is a Fire Elemental magic that is renowned for their ability to have good eyesight and worship the The All Seeing Watch-god Agereos, the Dumis Family specializes only on the prospects of attack magic and that mostly revolves around the element of Lightning and where they worship no God but their own hard work.
They were a lineage of Atheist that believes only on the prospects of human development.
"Four Minutes…that's all it'll take for me to take down this tower." as she said that while running around the tower looking for a good spot to cast her spell, suddenly a halberd of a weapon came falling down right before her feet and it caused her to stop.
She was just about to reach a certain side of the tower but this weapon stops her at her place.
"!?" she was shocked to see a weapon fall all of a sudden and it caused her to immediately bring her to her fighting stance.
"...A mage running into our tower all on her own is suicide." said a voice from a top on the wall of the tower.
"..." Rebertha watched as a boy stood with his arms crossed. She knew this boy. This was the person who would stand at the right side of Tyler as his supporting member.
This boy looks down at her while she was at her stance ready to fight.
"...Fool." as soon as he said this, he then jumps off from the wall and made his way down to Rebertha's front.
*boom!* the impact of his landing caused the ground to crack and he then looks to his ring finger and pulls out another halberd.
"...Where is Hami-"
*Bang!*
But before he could finish his sentence, a heavy force suddenly came out of nowhere and it struck his whole entire body.
It was like he was being hit by a running truck.
It threw him across the land until finally he came to a stop by crashing on one of the trees planted near the tower.
*Boom*
"Geez...I finally found the third guy." this voice came from Hamil.
Shockingly, Rebertha found Hamil covered in a black paint-like substance under his uniform.
"Hamil?"
"Sorry for that." said Hamil as he apologize to Rebertha by suddenly attacking another one of the guards.
"Ah, it's alright. But what is that thing all over your body? Is it your skill?" asked Rebertha.
"Yeah, Its my skill called shadow skin." said Hamil.
"So it is a Dark attribute. I'm surprised you have this type of attribute on you." said Rebertha in surprise.
"We'll talk about this later. We have to change our plans for now since it looks like I can't take in all their attention to me."
"What do you plan to do then?"
"I'll be your shield."
"What!?"
"Don't worry about me, you just have to focus on your spell and I'll focus on keeping them away from you ."
"..." Rebertha was a bit worried as shown by her expression but Hamil looks to her with a confident gaze and said.
"Do you trust me?"
"I…"Rebertha looks to him with a still worried expression but soon it turned to faith.
"Fine…I trust you." as soon as she said this, Hamil went and brought out his shield.
'Endit.' as soon as he said this, a bluish light appeared in his chest and soon the materialization of his shield appeared right in front of him.
He grabs the shield with a tight grip and looks to Rebertha.
"Lets go." said Hamil.
They both entered the tower and made their way to the center of the whole building. In that location, an open garden was found…it was place fit for Hamil to use as his standing point.
"Okay Rebertha, you can start your spell now."
"Okay." as soon as she said this, she kneels on the floor and started her chant.
While she does this, Hamil approached her and used shield skill on her for extra precaution.
"Shield's Copy." as he said this, three layers of the skill soon piled around Rebertha's kneeling body.
But not long after that use of skill, a certain explosion was heard.
*Bang!*
"!?" with a quick time action, Hamil predicted the direction of that explosion and immediately made his turn to face it. But as soon as he did, he found himself suddenly pushed a step back as if something was fired right at his shoulder.
Thankfully, his skill protected his skin.
"...A bullet." he said as he felt the numbing sensation of that attack.
Not long after, another shot was fired. It was headed to Rebertha's direction.
*Bang!*
But this time, Hamil was aware enough to block it.
He used his spear and swung it across to deflect the flying bullet.
*Pew*
The moment the bullet struck down at the spear, it ran pass through the sharp tip of it and it got split in half the moment it went pass Hamil.
"...weird, the bullets aren't coming in a barrage, that must mean that the weapon itself must not be a type that goes on full automatic. So it must be a sniper rifle." he said while looking towards the direction of where those bullets were coming from.
As he searched for any possible location that sniper was hiding, he found a small tower that was just right next to the tower that stood the tallest. On that tower, a window was found…an open window at that.
"There...Probably around fifty meters away…it's enough for me to take it down."
It was enough for him to take down the second tower in one shot as long as it didn't have a barrier around it.
The moment he saw that tower, he stepped on hard on the floor and with veins popping out of his arm, he threw his spear at it without hesitation.
*SWOOSH!*
It flew up to the tower like a bullet.
While it was flying across the area, a sudden change happened to the spear. Black lightning strips were suddenly seen from his spear.
By the time it struck the tower, it ultimately blew the tower off and it still continued to fly across the land of the tower. It passed through the walls until finally it landed down at the floor and caused such a shock that it made a crater.
"..." Hamil was shocked to see the spear acting like that. He did not know that it was capable of producing Black lightning just from his throw, this was the first time it happened. It was not his first time throwing the spear but for once, this was the very first time he saw such power come out of Apolo.
"...it must have been because of Adam, the Intrepid Ruler. His essence in creating the weapon must have left some sort of element behind the spear or maybe the spear itself was made of the element." said Hamil as he tried to understand the reason for why his spear acted like that. He remembered back when the first time he saw Apolo was brought out, he could see black lightning come out right after Apolo was born…Apolo was created by the essence of having black lightning as his element.
That could only be the reason.
After having settled with that sniper, he went back and guarded Rebertha.
A minute passes and another student came walking in, and this time it was the student from before. The one who carried a Halberd.
"...haa…haa…haa…" he was a mess to look at. From how his arms seemed like it was bending in the wrong direction and from how messy his hair was, one could easily tell that he was having a bad day.
"You….you unrighteous bastard!" the boy screamed out his frustrations.
"Eh.."
"You attack a knight of my honor in such a scheming way…you are not worthy to be a knight!" and for some reason, it seems like he also loss a few marbles from hitting the tree earlier.
"Wha-." but right before he could say anything, he felt another tingling sensation to dodge. His six sense was acting out upon to dodge an incoming attack.
So he raised his shield and uses it to block his back.
*Dung!*
A metal arrow tip crash against his shield and it caused a sudden explosion that covered the area around Hamil in dust.
".… a fire arrow in infused with mana ." he said as he tried looking around for any possible areas that the arrow was coming from, but the moment he turned around, he saw a student walking in by on the ground with an arrow on his hands. He was the same student as before on the front gate.
"...Damn, I should have dealt with him the moment I saw him."
Beyond that dust cover, another attack was falling down at him.
A hammer came crashing down at Hamil but right before it could land, Hamil used his shield and block the falling heavy strike.
"!!" this time, the hammer was extra heavy and more bigger than the last time.
The impact of that attack caused the dust surrounding Hamil to dissipate. And by the time the dust scattered everywhere, the Hammer wielding student was revealed but this time he was more bigger and was somewhat heavier.
"Hnn!" Hamil used his strength and pushed away the giant student.
He threw him just far enough that the student landed right next to the other student who held a Halberd by his hand.
"You bastards used a potion didn't you." said Hamil in a frustrated voice as he assumed that these students were using a potion that made a student incredibly strong in a matter of seconds, such potion would most likely cost around half a million ence.
"Of course we did." said the student who was carrying a bow."
"And you even picked a even bigger hammer." added Hamil.
"More power means more chance at beating you!" said the student who carried the hammer. It seems like the potion itself was effective enough that it didn't blinded the student from his consciousness.
"I may not approve of this because it isn't so righteous of an act, but Tyler did say that to people like you, anything goes in a fight." said the student who carried the Halberd.
"Hmm, it seems like no one else is coming to this showdown…come on then. Come at me!" he taunted the group of students that surrounded him to get their attention away from Rebertha. And looking at their decision to go straight at him, it looks like his taunt was somewhat working.
The student who came in with a halberd rushed at him with a shout and swung his wide halberd right at Hamil's neck, but just as it was about to reach him, he instantly called out Apolo and materialized yet again right as it was about to strike him. Even though Apolo was outside the tower's area, Hamil could easily call back his weapon if needed since materializing and de-materializing this weapon given by the rulers was simply in its function.
*Slash*
*Thud*
The two weapons crashed and it caused Hamil in a risky situation. While the Halberd student was pushing on with his attacks, the bow user was on his way to fire another round of fire arrows that were enhanced with mana.
While Hamil was stuck on the Halberd, the bow user fires his shot right at him. Knowing that those arrows were coming at him, he needed to get out of the way. So he called off his spear and he rushed in to face off against the halberd without a weapon except his shield.
As he made a step forward, he then quickly grabbed the handle of the halberd and pushed it down away from his neck. By misdirecting the swing of the halberd, he found his chance and used the shield to bash in the face of the student in front of him, it caused the boy to fade out a bit and Hamil used this chance to grab the boy on his uniform collar and pull him down to the direction of where those arrows where coming in.
Just as the arrows came in, the unconscious body of the boy took on the full force of the four arrows.
Hamil was sure that this was enough to take down one of them, but to his surprise, he found the boy with the halberd wide awake.
"!?"
The boy with the halberd then proceeded to grab hold of Hamil's hand and then he thrusted it right at his face with no hesitation.
"Haa!!"
"!!" Hamil quickly tilted his head to dodge but the halberd's sharp edge was fast enough that Hamil couldn't fully dodge the strike. By the time he tilted his head, a mark was left, seeing as how blood was dripping down his cheek.
"..." frustrated by the wound, Hamil pulled on the boys collar yet again and he threw him down at a wall.
*Boom!*
But as he did, another attacker came in with a huge swing to side.
That attack was from the Hammer wielding student.
By his swing, the complete front surface of the hammer was big enough of a diameter that it could completely cover half his body. The speed of his swing was no joke, Hamil had no time to dodge, so he quickly used his shield and used it to take on the hammer, but the force was strong enough that the impact caused Hamil to grit his teeth.
"!!" the force of the hammer threw him at the same direction where the Halberd student landed.
*Crash!*
*Swoosh**Swoosh**Swoosh**Swoosh*
And another barrage of fire enhanced arrows were yet again shot at his direction.
But no explosion was heard after that shot.
"...What!" as the smoke cleared, Hamil came out of the wall with four arrows on his hand.
"Geez, you guys are relentless." he said while he patted away the debris that was on his shoulders.
"...Hmm." the Hammer student didn't wait and instead, he came rushing again with his hammer, but this time he aimed to smash right down instead of the side.
"HAA!!"
But Hamil predicted this and he instantly brought out Apolo and thrusted it's blunt edge right at the Student's elbow.
By the impact of the student's downward swing, Hamil used this chance and struck the very joint of his elbow.
It ended with the giant kid with a dislocated elbow.
"KKKHHGGG!!!" the giant student squirmed in pain and he ultimately dropped his hammer down.
His was now unable to lift the hammer all with just one arm. It was too heavy for one arm alone.
But he didn't give in to easily, instead he clinched his fist tight and tried to fight Hamil on with just one fist. But to Hamil's eyes, this desperation was foolish.
The giant student's swing was strong enough that he could punch right through a 12 inch thick wall, he was confident that he could still fight back against Hamil, but the moment he swung down his fist, his vision instantly turned black.
He was knocked out.
"..." and Hamil in turn was only standing around with an irritated look.
What he did was to simply aim for the chin. Like any good boxer would do, hitting a chin with a good amount of force could result in a knock-out. Even the toughest enemies fear such a hit, and to Hamil, hitting a big chin from this big student was as easy as playing an arcade shooting game meant for toddlers.
Just as Hamil was about to walk out of the wall, a halberd was instantly thrown his way. But the strength of that throw wasn't all so powerful, so he easily grabbed it right at the handle before the sharp tip could fully reach his face.
"..."
"I admit, you are strong and Tyler was right…but your strength right now isn't enough to even go head to head with him. You'll die hehehe." he said as he laighs over what was to come in his head. The thought of Tyler beating down on Haml was a sight to see in his mind.
"..." But Hamil looks to him with an indifferent look. The halberd carrying student was surely almost at his limits and he hasn't even been able to hit Hamil properly.
Even though Hamil Hasn't fully used half of his strength, the boy before him dared to mock him.
It was hard holding back on a few kids…even now Hamil was trying his best not to kill them all accidentally, but to attack him 3 against 1 made him very irritable.
Still, he had the decency to hold back and not fully knock them out in just one hit. He had to show the audience a performance that would make them believe that he was just around average or maybe above average but never a person who was ultimately a genius at fighting. It would be suspicious if he did.
"hehehe..we've bought enough time I think…Have fun…in the upcoming event…Tyler will surely make it riveting so that you will surely have the will…to fight him with your lives on the line." as the boy said this, he fell on his knees and he dropped down on the floor.
The last thing he said was a bit worrying but Hamil didn't have the time to worry, he still needed to deal with one more student.
As he came out of the wall, he saw no one here except Rebertha who still had the five shields around her.
"..." Hamil's eyes furrowed in suspicion. Something was wrong in this whole event against the class D.
But as he thought of the suspicion, Rebertha had already finished her casting and was now about to release her attack.
"RAH---TEL---MOH-TEMPAL FROW"
As she said her chant, a magic circle suddenly appears right before the top of the tower and it came with a lightning strike so fierce that in just a second, the whole tower was instantly obliterated by a lightning wave.
No barrier could stop that attack and the strike even tore down the surrounding area of the land, luckily Hamil was there to shield the surrounding people.
He used the skill, shield copy on the two unconscious students near him and another on him. But the rest he couldn't do because he was not sure where they were. He could only hope they could escape on time before the strike could reach them.
As the bright light slowly faded out, Hamil was now able to see again and he then turn to look at the tower or maybe what was left of it.
Only smoke was seen on what was once the location of the tower.
He then turns to look at Rebertha and found her unconscious from using such a powerful spell.
"..." he smiled at her effort and then proceeded to pick her up from the ground.
By now the results were shown, as a camera drone flies in near Hamil, it showed him the result of this event…
Time: 44 minutes and 45 seconds.
Class C-
Score: 24 points
Class D-
Score: 6 points.
"..." Hamil stared at the screen.
Something was off right from the very beginning of this whole raid…
For one, they didn't once aimed for Rebertha even though she was just right next to him. It was almost as if they were only aiming at him…it was as if they were measuring his very strength and capability…the capability to fight head on with Tyler.
Secondly, Why did Tyler waited until they were finally at the front of the opposing tower, it seemed as if he was intentionally wanting for this to happen…as if he had no problem with Hamil taking down the tower.
And Lastly, that Six points that showed at the very screen seemed oddly infuriating to look at. It was as if that score was already been there even though the ten minutes hasn't passed for Tyler to reach the opposing tower…it was as if that six point score came earlier before Rebertha had even destroyed the tower.
As he exited the artificial portal, he came to the view at the big screen of something he knew was ultimately wrong…
At the screen, a massacre was shown.
Three of his classmates shown in such a bloody beating that it seemed as if it was all surreal. It was as if the a devil was playing with these children.
…it made his blood boil
…it made his teeth grit
And made him stare at the very culprit with such heavy bloodlust that almost at an instant, everyone felt it, but the bloodlust soon disappeared as if nothing happened.
Hamil was left with a cold and dark expression.
As the culprit came out of the artificial portal, he showed a smile that seemed all to innocent and friendly like…almost as if he himself enjoyed the expression Hamil was showing. He walked past Hamil and was now making his way to his room.
Unconsciously, the dark spear appeared out of Hamil's hand and without a second thought, he started to walk to Tyler and he stood at the back of the him with his spear pointed at his neck.
No sound was made from those steps.
he soon looks to him with a cold gaze and said.
"Tyler…I hope you'll beg for mercy..."
But Tyler didn't turn around to face Hamil, instead a chuckle was heard and he simply laughed as he walked away from Hamil.
He left Hamil with such a cold and heavy gaze but soon after, Hamil walked away and made his way to go to his classmates…to his friends…to tend to them.
While Rebertha was asleep because she was drained out of her mana, the rest were left being brought out by a stretcher…
It was a sad scene to look at.
It took long to write this one because I went to the beach...I got sunburned.
