Kapitel 13: Chapter 12: Right Before The-

Today, there was a festival going on and things were going overall pretty well as Rolls won a race by quite an extensive margin.

"Hahaha! I told you I would win easily!" Rolls smiled as he flexed his muscles.

"Yeah, but you could have at least given Marion a chance to win." I pointed at the now sulking Marion who was in second place by a large margin.

"Don't even try to explain anything to this blockhead, he'll unlearn it immediately." Jasmine shook her head as she looked down at us.

"You guys are just lucky I'm in a different group, if I was racing you, things would have ended with two crybabies instead of just one." Naomi added with a smug smile also having come in first place for her group.

"Don't be so rude, Marion was trying his best and you know what? He did great! I'm very happy with his work. Eventually, he'll be able to match up to Rolls." Sara began scolding everyone and trying to cheer Marion up.

"Why *Huff* *Huff* *Huff*... Do we have to do this... Man, I'm... I'm going to take a nap." Crystal was tired and rested on a mattress on the ground.

At that time, I got slapped on my head and looked back to see, Leia.

"Hey doofus, did you see me beating all those losers? I told you I could do it." She said it with confidence in her tone and expression, but her eyes looked like those of a puppy looking for praise.

"Really? That's my sister for you! I guess the family genes weren't completely wasted on you." I responded.

"Hmph! You know I'm amazing! You're just embarrassed for not being as cool!" Leia blushed and replied.

"Being the best among 5th graders isn't that impressive..." I pointed out.

"I would bother explaining, but I need to go to the next event." Leia expressed before leaving.

"Don't break a leg." I commented and she gave me a glare and then left.

"... Maky, why did you bet on your sister? Instead of our team?" Selene asked.

"I was just supporting the family... My parents were insistent on it." I don't make eye contact with them.

"Typical Maky, always letting us down for his sister. Just go and marry her already!" Jasmine complanied and made everyone look at her after the nonsense she spouted.

"... Jasmine, I think you need a break, you're saying crazy things." Naomi immediately got closer to her and tried to calm her down.

"Please never say that again." Sara was polite to request but her expression didn't match that at all, being more akin to a demonic mask.

"They are crazier than I thought." Crystal shook her head looking at Sara and Jasmine.

"That's... Something... Like she really said that..." Even Rolls stopped to look at her with a frown.

"Everyone is kind of going crazy... Are we sure nothing is going on?" Marion inquired as he began to frantically look around.

"Ok! Enough! I get it." I rolled my eyes as I stopped it.

"Oh, right... I just remembered, my cool new neighbors came to see us today, you guys should definitely come to meet them." Sara was happy to introduce us to her new neighbors.

It was an adult couple, Matt and Sophia, and they were a bit different from what I expected, first because Matt is a stitched-up Zombie and second because Sophia is short and petite but muscular and curvaceous.

"Hi... Kids..." Matt sounded like he was dead and... It's hard to say if he is or not, undead make no sense. Added to that was the stiffness that he emanated, all making for a pretty awkward interaction.

Meanwhile, Sophia had a much easier time talking to us. "Hello everyone! I'm Sophia and that's my husband Matt! We recently moved to the area and it's all so much better already if you knew how chaotic big cities are right now..."

Even then she said some things I don't think most would talk about with people as young as us. The conversation continued and all in all, they seemed like nice people.

"Honey! Can you go get me a cup, we don't have one here." Sophia asked her husband.

In response rather than saying anything, he launched his forearm out to grab it, and then the threads connecting his body pulled his forearm now holding a plastic cup back in like it was nothing, and the forearm just reattached to him.

"Here." He finally said something as he handed her the cup.

"You know, you could have just gotten up and done it... If I knew you were going to be lazy, I would have done it myself." Sophia pouted as she scolded Matt for whatever reason.

"You ask me for help, you get things solved my way. Simple and clean." Matt didn't seem to be bothered.

"Awww, you nerdy dumbass, I can't be mad at you." Sophia stretched her arms around Matt multiple times before pulling him into a hug, and he just drowned in between her mounds.

(These people... They are kinda weird...) I just concluded looking at them.

Later, after that, I was moving around and then got called.

"Hi! Look at that, wouldn't you rather hang around me? You can eat whatever you want." Feylin called out to me with a smug on her face.

Not bothering with her I just continued walking.

"Wait! Listen to me! It's important... Dad! It's him! He's the boy I told you about!" Feylin came following and then pointed at me.

"I see... You're Makiel... The boy who has been bullying my dear Feylin. Just what exactly did you think you were doing?"

(Great, now she added her dad to the equation... How fun...) I shook my head before sighing and looking the man straight in the eyes.

{Before you do anything just remember that they could help you in the future if you use them correctly.} Vandir tried to sway me.

"Living my life while ignoring a certain annoying person, it kind of reminds me of your daughter. That person is honestly, kind of a whiny little bitch, yeah that sounds about right." I was blunt and quite rude, this was pilling up long due.

[Violation of the Quest requirements detected. Your reward will be reduced by 5% due to this.]

(Of course... At this point it's like what? 30% lost? I don't care anymore.) I refused to bend over just because of the quest.

"Hahahahahaha! Children really don't know what's best for them. Let me tell you, I'm Gortan Lucratus Veamin, the CEO of Pharmacy Royals Beyond. Not someone you should be rude to, 'cause you never know what might happen to your mom and dad, if you behave like you have money and status, ok?" Gortan smiled as he looked down at Makiel with a smug aura around him.

(Did this guy really just threaten an 8-year-old child using my parents?... This kind of thing is exactly why I can't be weak, cause the moment I let myself stay that way, I'll be cornered and treated like a lesser being, some sort of slave, because I don't have the means to defend myself...

(But then again, I have been looking at power, only in the more physical and magical sense, however monetary, socio-political, allies, my own mind, the system, and even Vandir, are all forms of power in a way, all of which I have to master if I ever want to be truly untouchable, someone who rules over all things.) I came to a conclusion as I saw the man talk down to me.

"Mister Gortan... I didn't know you were afraid of children to the point you would try this, but I guess the apple never falls far from the tree, so I should have known." I replied calmly.

In response, he smiled and then I sensed his mana trying to suppress me, but obviously, I wouldn't let myself get thrown off my balance by someone so clumsy... His mana control is terrible.

As he saw no response from me, he intensified to the point I could see veins in his forehead, but nothing happened.

Then to escalate things further, this man lifted his hand and swang at me.

(So slow...) I was surprised at how weak this guy really was in general.

However before, I could dodge, my father stopped his hand and I looked daggers at the man his other hand ready to throw a punch.

"Unhand me! Do you have any idea who you're assaulting?" Gortan acted like he was some sort of victim.

"I don't know nor do I care who you are, you're not touching my son either way!" Father didn't back down or worry at all, as Gortan pulled his hand holding his wrist seemingly in pain.

"I see, later on, we'll meet again. Let us see how you act then." He backed away and was leaving.

"But dad!..." Feylin tried to call out to him.

"Shut up! I'm leaving, you can take care of this festival yourself. I expect at least this." He responded before leaving.

While that was going on, my father turned to me and hugged me before, asking. "How are you?! Are you ok?! Did that man hurt you anywhere?? If so I promise you, your father will take care of it."

"Huh... I... No, I'm fine." I was a bit shocked by the way he was treating me.... Why? It's not his problem so why does he care?... Oh yeah... I kinda forgot... He's my father....

"Thank god! I'm sorry I wasn't here from the beginning, I was so happy for your sister that I didn't pay you enough attention. Honestly, you're so good at taking care of yourself, sometimes I forget you're still a kid, but I have to ask you for a favor, for me, please ask your parents for help! For anything, no matter what it is, we'll help however we can!" He expressed before hugging me again.

Hugging him back, It felt weird to actually see my father... Be my father in my second life...

"I'll try to do it... Thanks, Dad." I responded with a smile.

(Third Person's POV)

-Lexinim Shopping-

Sometime after the school festival, in a rather crowded shopping mall, Makiel, Leia, Sara, Rolls, Jasmine, Naomi, Matt, and Sophia were all moving through for a shopping session.

(This is unnecessary... Why did they invite me?.... I would rather be at home training.) Makiel thought to himself as he looked at the surroundings and began to get tired just from seeing all the people there.

"Little Maky! Have your spirits up! You can't get tired yet, we're just getting started. Just look at Rolls and the girls, they are still full of energy." Sophia leaned on Makiel and her mountains touched him, some of his energy restored with a temporary buff from "excitement".

(Great... Even better... This only gets better!) He sarcastically complained to himself as he now had something else to deal with aside from the already annoying situation.

"Of course! I'm always a few steps ahead, I came prepared." Rolls said as he ate an energy bar.

"Why would I be tired? There are still many amazing things to see! I haven't even checked my favorite clothes store yet! We're going and no arguing!" Jasmine replied.

"I have to buy my morning routine stuff, my beauty isn't free. Plus I need new weights." Naomi nodded as she said.

"You see what I have the deal with... Can't even take him shopping, he whines too much." Leia complained.

"Why would you want to take him anyway? You should know he's annoying." Jasmine asked.

"Who will carry the bags then?" Leia responded.

It was almost funny for Makiel to see them talk about him as if he wasn't there.

"Relax, we can go eat something good to lighten up while they do their thing." Matt put his hand on Makiel's shoulder and seemed to understand how pointless this felt for him.

"Yeah, that would be nice." Makiel replied, and Matt pat his head.

(Being around Matt always feels a little off, since he's a zombie, but he's pretty much just a green person... It's not like he has a craving for brains or anything. Though I wonder how his body got to the point it had to be stitched up... Just what happened?) Makiel couldn't help but be curious about the man right next to him.

"Is something on my face?" Matt asked seeming Makiel look at him intensely.

"Hum... No, actually I wanted to ask about the others... I lost track of them." Makiel said as he looked around to see the others were nowhere to be seen.

"No problem, I can track Sophia's phone." Matt casually said.

"That's..." Makiel narrowed his eyes as he slightly frowned.

"Not like that, she put a tracker on my phone first, so I did this to get it even..." Matt explained with the same monotone he has had the whole time.

"That doesn't really sound too much better..." Makiel pointed out.

"Hmmm... Found them." Without responding Matt moved on.

As they both walked, suddenly a strong and overwhelming amount of mana, put pressure on everyone present making a feeling of dizziness and sickness the overall majority as then like some sort of bomb going off, loads of monsters fell from the sky, came from the outside or even the ground and utter chaos ensued.

In of the tvs somewhere in the mall, an immediate report was being made. |... The worst fear of humanity has come true, as the event that all helped would never take place was doing just that! All citizens are encouraged to find the nearest disaster shelter, as they are all equipped to do so! Slayers have been dispatched to every area that has a Local Slayer Office, but survival at a time like this is first and foremost under one's responsibility so please make sensible decisions for you and your loved ones. As this is it... The Third Great Disaster has arrived as various portals carrying insurmountable numbers of monsters have opened all over the world! This was...|

Just then the TV was crushed under a Hellhound's foot as many others like it followed right behind. The long-dreaded day had arrived and no one was truly ready for it. Anyhow, as always only time would dictate the fate of humanity.
