Kapitel 2: Chapter 1: Mana Training

Even with the memories from before I regressed, at the end of the day, I'm still a baby. Quite the limiting condition if you ask me.

Not much I can do right now.

As a result, my daily life turned to eating, sleeping, and excretion... Even still, this also allows me to be a bit more focused.

My main focus each day is to try and sense mana, as Vandir said it was the first step to learning how to control it. Though that's basically just meditation so, I can't it got a bit boring quite easily since I have no sense of my own growth in this field.

Instead of mopping though, I decided to dedicate the rest of my baby time to learning how to move my body.

And for the first time, since I got here, I'm about to stand on my own two feet.

"What are you even doing... You're too small to stand up. If you get hurt, Mum and Dad will get mad at me. Please don't do this!" The girl right now pleading with me is my older sister by 4 years, Leia.

At this point, I don't how I should feel about my parents considering that they abandoned me in my previous life. Then again there's nothing I can do about it as of now, due to my age, and to add insult to injury, the quest probably doesn't allow for something like that for a while.

However, even if it did, would I be able to do anything to them when Leia is also a part of the equation? I don't know, and for that, I'll ignore that part of the past if nothing as bad happens this time around.

While I was a bit lost in thought, I was able to get myself to stand! I have conquered another facet of my body!

"Wow! You actually did it! Why are you a cooler baby than I was?! That's really not fair... But I'll forgive you because you're kinda almost cute." She clapped for me seeing me succeed.

She's kind of a bit of a tsundere type, but nicer?...

.....

....

...

Mana is everything! Those were the words out of Vandir's mouth. It is one of the most basic forms of energy and one that is friendly to newcomers when compared to others.

In the current earth, mana is everywhere, and after 1 year of practicing with it, I finally see and sense the mana around me and in everyone else. Some people had a lot of mana, like my sister then there were those like my biological parents who didn't have almost any.

At first, I thought they could just train like me, but mana is similar to muscles in the sense that it's easier to train when you're younger and something that not everyone is good at, as some people just don't have the level of focus to accumulate mana and that's fine. According to Vandir, people 40 years old and beyond just won't have good results even if they do train to control and increase their mana.

However unlike with muscles, so long as you find a good master or have enough money, they can just transfer their mana pool to you, though that would permanently decrease theirs. Plus this process has a limit and it won't allow someone with low affinity with mana to have insane loads of mana, but it will allow them to have a decent mana pool even if they have low affinity with mana.

At some point, everyone hits their max mana pool, which a state Vandir called the Mana pool limit.

On the other side of the coin, there is a condition called Mana Break, an illness, where someone with high amounts of mana, can end up being suffocated and consumed by their very own mana, and it can lead to death if not properly handled.

The two main methods to deal with it are to mana transfer until the mana pool no longer overwhelms the host, or to train and learn how to control your mana.

For someone looking to make money the first method could be pretty lucrative sense, there's always someone looking for a mana transference, but if you want to get somewhere and not be stomped by those at the top, you'll train and master your mana. Right now, Vandir said I should learn something called mana disruption, the moment I can control my mana.

On that note, using Vandir's teachings I'll train my sister to help her control her mana.

"Come here. You're really close to being able to walk! Just give it your all… Hurry! I can't wait all day" My sister called out to me as she was helping me walk. I got so focused on mana, I neglected improving my mobility.

Later that year, my mother had twins and I now had two little sisters. I hope those two stop at four children or this place might get a bit crowded.

-5 years old-

Time flew and I was now easily capable of walking and talking, aside from having arguably better mobility than in my first life.

Unfortunately for me, as a part of being a child, our parents expect that I play around with other kids, so today Leia is taking me out to hang out with them. Unnecessary but ultimately inevitable.

"Don't get too close to these kids, you might get sick. They look like they still eat sand." As we got to the park, Leia began speaking to me. It seems she's a bit quick to make assumptions.

"Weren't you making a sand cake last week?" I asked.

"Hmph! First, last week was forever ago. Second, just because I make sand cakes it doesn't mean I eat them! Meanie!" She pulled her tongue out on me.

*Sigh* I shook my head and gave her no answer.

"Leia! Come over here." Leia's best friend randomly appeared and they both left together.

It didn't take long for her to take charge of the group of children and make it her own... My sister's quite popular it seems.

Feeling out of place in a playground, I just found my own spot to focus on meditation.

"You shouldn't sleep here alone. A bad person could take you without you knowing." A random kid came to talk to me.

Opening my eyes, I could see the boy who was talking to me.

"Huhh... I'll be fine, thanks. Anyway, if that's all. Bye." After having answered, I once again closed my eyes.

"Hey didn't you hear me?..." He insisted.

I gave no response. Focus! Ignore him, he'll get bored and leave you alone.

"Hey!!"

Just a little longer.

"Heyyyy! Can you hear me?"

Time will solve this, not something to worry about.

"Are you alive?!"

Take it, he'll definitely leave any time now.

"Hey!..."

"Heyyy!..."

"Heyyyy!..."

"Heyyyyyy!...."

Does he have nothing better to do?!

"What are you doing?! I know you're still alive, and your eyes and mouth move when I talk, so you can hear me!" He said while poking my face... Enough is enough...

"Will you leave if I tell you what I'm doing?" I gave up and instead took a new approach.

"Hum..." He looked focused as if he was trying to think about it, before shaking his head.

"I can't do it if you're here talking to me." I say.

"Then do you want to play with me?" He questioned.

"Why me? The other kids are already playing there." I point out, hoping he'll finally leave.

"Oh, that's because you're here all alone and so-" He replied but before he could finish his sentence something happened.

"Hey! Where do you think you're going?! We were playing house and you were supposed to come back!" A girl came and started yelling at the boy.

"Calm down, you don't need to be mad at him. He probably got distracted, you know how he is." A second girl said.

"I'm sorry for him or them. I hope we didn't bother you." A third girl instead apologized to me, how polite for someone this young.

"I don't care! Let's go back and finish the game!" The first commanded as she tried to pull the boy to go with them.

"Wait! Let's take my new friend too! You said you wanted someone to play the third child anyway!" The boy pointed at me.

"Hmmm! Ok! You're pretty enough to play my child! Let's go!" She decided and continued pulling the boy.

"You're gonna hurt him if you keep pulling like that." The second girl added as she followed along.

I stayed in place having no intention of joining them. Now back to meditation finally!

"Hey!... Sorry again, but could you come with us? If you don't she'll cry and be mean to us then come yell at you." The third girl urged me.

*Sigh!* "I don't remember being a child as this problematic... It won't kill me to rest from meditation and play a little..." I mumbled to myself before looking at the third girl and answering. "Ok, show me where you're playing."

"Thanks! I'm Sakura, by the way, my friends call me Sara though." She continued talking to me.

".... I'm Makiel. I don't have any friends so no friend nickname, though my parents call me Maky as a pet name." I respond accordingly.

{Urgh!... You can't even talk to a child... This partnership might be more trouble than I bargained for...}Vandir commented.

Before I could counter though, Sara spoke with teary eyes and even a deep frown.... Did I say something wrong? "That's sad! You're nice, so why don't you have friends?!.... I'll be your friend! Ok?!"

So sudden...

"Huh... Yeah, that's fine..." I didn't want her to cry so I just said yes.

{Tch... I hope you don't get easily thrown around or we might be in for a bad time} Vandir once again threw in a comment.

(Isn't that the whole point of the quest?) I inquired.

{That's not the problem! You just have to pretend for the quest, not actually be this way.} He complained.

From then on, I had to play with Sara and the other kids, until Leia came and rescued me. During the time I was there, Vandir kept complaining about me, but it was obvious he can't do anything about it, so I ignored him. Finally back home where I can meditate in peace!

While I was on my way to my peaceful place, I saw Father watching TV.

|Reports state that the activity of mana has grown exponentially more rampant as of late, with it having effects on monsters, beasts, demons, animals, and most significantly us humans. The extent of the effects of this phenomenon is currently unknown, but caution is advised to citizens as we never know when something dangerous may be lurking on the streets. This was...|

Uninterested in it, I just went on my merry way. Train to become strong!

.....

....

...

It had been a few months since the first time I went to the park with my sister and I'd come to be aquatinted with a bunch of kids, the main ones being those 4 from the first day.

Me and Leia got to the park.

"Tsk! It's you! Maky, you idiot!" She came to me with some build-up anger already. "You dare show your face here after what you did last time! You idiot! You meanie! You idiot meanie!" She continued as I tried to not cringe at her words, she's still only 5 after all, can't expect her to express herself too much better than this.

"Relax... It's fine, I'll make it up to you." I didn't know what to say, it was the first time I was in a situation like this.

"No! It's not! You didn't even apologize!" She started hitting me but with her level of strength or didn't really amount to much, but for some reason I felt that if I let her know it was not hurting it will be worse for me.

"Ok! Ok! Stop it, that hurts... I'm sorry! I didn't mean it!" Pretending to be overpowered by what was essentially nothing, I issued my apologize.

"Say it! It doesn't count if you don't say it!" She stopped hitting me, but she was no less pissed.

(This little devil... I should have never let Sara convince me to join this group...) I regretted the past.

{You're honestly amusing to watch, but not in a good way.} Once again Vandir threw out a comment.

"Jasmine is the best there is, and Sakura can't compare." I said the line while internally sighing at the stupidity of the situation.

"Hmph! You come late! You're lucky I kinda almost like you. Don't be a meanie again or I won't forgive you! Idiot!" Jasmine turned around and left.

"Hahahahaha! Look at my little brother, you suck at this. I see why you shut yourself t home for so long." Leia laughed at me.

"Don't even start." I rolled my eyes.

This whole situation was stupid and it happened just because a certain annoying boy decided to have Jasmine ask me who I thought was the cutest, something I wasn't really interested in doing but once again I was pestered into submission and made the mistake of giving an honest answer by saying, Sara, one thing led to another and here we are.

{You never fail to impress me with your weakness, then again because of the quest I guess it's a benefit in a way... Just don't die.} Vandir said.

Moving on from that, we got into a big group, me, my sister, the 4 kids, and my sister's BFF.

"Ok, there are a lot of us, we'll play cops and robbers " Leia announced, and everyone easily agreed.

-Later-

We were on our way home after another day at the park. Honestly, I'm somewhat used to it even though it still feels weird to be in this environment, but it's only temporary...

"You threw dirt at me... It's in my hair... " I complained.

"That's what you get for making me fall. Hahaha!" She actually laughed.

Should I really teach her how to control her mana?

"Grrrr!" *Bark!* It was a dog with blood-red shot eyes. It slowly walked towards us with an odd around it.

{Oh, would you look at that... It's mutating because of the mana... Its body couldn't handle it and it's going insane from the side effects... I don't know if the current you can beat that thing. It's best if you use the girl as bait and escape.} Vandir expressed.

(Are you crazy?! She's my sister! There's no way I'll abandon her! I'm a lot of things, but I'm no coward!) I retorted.

{Tsk! It's only bravery if you can win. It becomes recklessness when there are no chances. However, if you wish to make this girl into your woman in the future, then it's another story! Then I'll help you, but only if you make an oath on it.} Vandir began spouting nonsense.

"Stay behind me! I'll distract it and you'll run home and tell Dad, ok?!" Leia stepped in front of me trembling all throughout her body.

"Not today. Not like this. I'm sorry." Using my mana, I sent a wave through her body, and she fell unconscious as laid her down on the ground.

Immediately the dog rushed at us, opening its mouth full of sharp and long teeth.

Before it could bite me though, I kicked it on its chin, my leg covered in mana.

Blood splattered, but contrary to my belief, the dog recovered and bit me on my right shoulder. Like a hot knife on butter, its teeth sunk in, blood dripping onto my clothes.

Using this opportunity, I covered my index, and middle fingers in mana, then I speared them into the dog's right eye with my left hand.

At this time, I sent a wave of mana into the dog's brain.

(Die! You mutt!) I used all I have to do this in a sort of ultimate attack, but just like with how it goes in stories if I fail now, I'll be killed by the dog...

"That's why I'll win!" I inadvertently let out a cry and just then the dog's head exploded, throwing bits and pieces of meat and blood everywhere.

(Disgusting! Some of it got into my mouth!) *Bleurgh!* Before I knew I vomited on the corpse of the dog.

Once I was done vomiting, I checked on Leia and she was ok, just dirty with dirt, blood and some dog brain? Oh well, still better than dying.

{Hahaha! Marvelous! You used mana disruption very well! It's quite a powerful, even Overpowered technique at this level. Just don't rely on it, it's very unlikely to ever work on anyone with a basic understanding of mana control.} Vandir praised me?

Not the time to worry about him, I need to get my sister home, and later on, I have to make sure to teach her to control her own mana. This world is too dangerous for her to stay defenseless.

Still, what happened today was just a warning from the world. Grow strong or die those are my choices. Good thing I've already decided.

Someday, I'll be strong enough to rule over all things, and then no one will hurt me or those who I love! No one!
