Ethan's POV
It had been a week since the night they tried to kidnap me. As we discovered, there were three people involved in the attempt. The first, the man who had tried to kidnap me, was a pirate with a bounty of 90 million berries, the captain of the Black Pirates, known for dressing exclusively in black and operating at night to blend in. His vice-captain was also involved, and he was the presence I had felt watching me that day.
The third person involved was the navigator of our ship. When Grandpa and I found out, we were beyond furious. We decided to send him to the 5th level of Impel Down and ordered that he be tortured every 12 hours as punishment for his involvement in the kidnapping attempt.
The person who solved the case and captured the other two involved was a CP0 agent who always wore a mask covering the upper part of her face and never told me her name, so I called her Miss Mask. She was a woman with short, curly blonde hair, blue eyes, red lipstick, and red-painted nails. She wore a white dress with a pink tie, a matching white cape, and gloves. She also wore fishnet stockings with fluffy edges and a belt.
**Flashback**
After the kidnapping attempt, Miss Mask (Stussy) took charge of checking all the rooms in the mansion and interrogating all the servants and marines we had brought with us in search of any clues about what had happened. One night, while I was in my room trying to sleep, I heard murmurs of voices coming from the hallway. I got up and carefully opened the door to see what was going on.
There was no one in the hallway, so I stepped out and followed the voices I heard. I ended up right outside a room with the door slightly open from which the voices were coming.
Miss Mask was there, interrogating the navigator. Her face was set with determination, and her eyes shone with a fierce intensity. "We already know you're involved," she said firmly. "If you confess now, your punishment might be less severe."
The navigator tried to maintain his composure, but his hands were shaking. "I… I don't know what you're talking about," he stammered.
Miss Mask took a step forward, her imposing presence clear. "I have enough evidence. Don't try to deceive me, traitor." After a few minutes of tense confrontation, the navigator finally broke down, confessing his complicity. It was then that I knew Miss Mask was someone I could trust.
From that day on, Miss Mask became a constant figure in my life. Grandpa ordered her to accompany us at all times in case something happened while he wasn't around. During this week, I had grown quite close to Miss Mask. She acted like a kind of older sister to me and was very kind. Although when I thanked her, she would just say it was her job, I knew deep down she was starting to care about me.
**Short Time Skip**
One afternoon, while we walked through the cobbled streets of Elegia, Miss Mask held my hand. "You know, Ethan? This city has a fascinating history," she said, pointing to an old building adorned with musical sculptures.
"Really? Tell me more," I asked, my eyes shining with curiosity.
Miss Mask smiled and began to narrate stories about the legendary musicians who had lived in Elegia and the songs they had composed. I was fascinated by her words and the way she spoke, full of passion and knowledge.
Another night, Miss Mask took me out for a walk around the city while Grandpa and my parents were occupied in a boring meeting. We walked through lantern-lit streets, and Miss Mask told me more about her life and adventures as a CP0 agent. I was surprised to learn that, despite her elegant appearance, she was incredibly strong and skilled.
The most incredible experience was the night Miss Mask took me for a sky walk. We were in the mansion's garden, gazing at the stars when Miss Mask turned to me with a playful smile.
"Do you want to see something really amazing, Ethan?" she asked.
"Sure!" I replied excitedly.
Suddenly, I saw white, radiant wings unfold from her back. I was stunned, unable to believe what I was seeing. Miss Mask bent down and extended her hand. "Come, hold on tight."
I took her hand, and in the blink of an eye, we were flying through the night sky. The sensation of the wind on my face and the view of Elegia from above was indescribable. I could see the city lights shining like stars on the ground, and the sounds of music and laughter reached us, creating a magical symphony.
"This is incredible, Miss Mask!" I shouted, my voice filled with joy.
"I'm glad you like it, Ethan," she replied, her voice soft and comforting.
We soared over rooftops and streets, doing twists and acrobatics in the air. At one point, Miss Mask gently descended to an open field outside the city. We landed softly on the ground, and she let me down. With her wings still extended, Miss Mask looked at me with a warm smile.
"I've always loved flying at night, Ethan. It's so relaxing, don't you think?" she said.
I went up to her and hugged her tightly. "Yes, it is. And thank you for the flight, Miss Mask. You're the best."
Back to Marie Geoise
Time flew by, and soon it was time to return to Marie Geoise. During the journey back, I couldn't help but feel a mix of emotions. I was happy to go home but also sad to leave Elegia and the wonderful experiences I had there.
Miss Mask, as always, was by my side and placed her hand on my shoulder. "You'll come back here someday, Ethan. And you'll have many more adventures," she assured me.
I smiled and nodded, knowing that as long as I had Miss Mask and my family by my side, I would always be safe and have someone with whom to share my dreams and adventures.
When we finally arrived at Marie Geoise, I was welcomed by the servants and delicious meals. Although the kidnapping attempt had been terrifying, it had made me stronger and introduced me to amazing people like Miss Mask. I knew that, no matter what the future held, I was ready to face it with courage and would not be weak again.
