Kapitel 17: First Bite

Scott had no idea why he did so, but for some weird reason he felt it would be okay to follow this vampire back to her home, or what she considered a home. She lived in the attic of an abandoned school building just few metres away from the Bayview Teaching Hospital, and Scott could already guess why she chose this place as her home.

It wasn't a fancy place, it was completely bland and devoid of anything he'd consider entertaining. The only things he could consider entertaining were the outdated magazines that littered the floor of her room.

"How long have you been staying here?" Scott inquired from the girl who had suddenly decided to clean today.

"At least thirty two years" Nicole answered.

"And how old are you?"

"Seventy five" Nicole provided without hesitation. As usual, she was being blatantly honest with her guest, and had no care for how her answers might affect them.

Scott wasn't entirely surprised by her age, he had already guessed she was at least five decades old. Some of the magazines he had picked up were dated from the mid 90's. She was extremely young considering the age she she'd just given. He already knew vampires never aged from the day they were turned, so he could only guess she was turned when she was still a teenager, presumably his age.

"You're a fan of fashion magazines I guess?"

"Not really, I picked them up from the dumpster because I didn't have money to afford it. They were trending back then, and I wanted to keep myself entertained" Nicole answered. She was done with her cleaning now, and had settled opposite her inquisitor. "What of you, what are you a fan of?" It was her turn to ask questions.

Scott wasn't sure if he was especially into anything, but he just decided to give her an answer he considered to be true. "I guess music and soccer" He replied with a shrug. She wasn't as bad as he believed vampires were. She had actually been fun ever since their first encounter. Perhaps not every vampire was bad.

"Would it be okay if I made you my first bite?" Scott felt time freeze before him after hearing her question. Whatever on earth did she mean? He questioned himself. She had told him that she hadn't drank from a human before, but this was something he wasn't expecting at all.

"I don't understand" Scott denied. He needed her to be even clearer, was she suggesting that he allowed her to bite him? He wanted to know exactly what she meant even though it was obvious.

"I want you to be my first bite" Nicole repeated, and Scott immediately shot up from his seat.

"I think I should get going" He excused himself, but the vampire wasn't going to let him go so easily. She had stepped in between him and the door, and had stopped him in his tracks.

"You don't hate me now do you?" Nicole asked as she grabbed onto his fleeing hand. She interlocked their fingers and gave him a gentle squeeze as she asked her question.

She had touched him before and they've held hands before, but why did this suddenly feel so disturbing. He honestly didn't know the right answer to give her at the moment. He didn't hate her, nor feel any sense of hatred towards her, he was just terrified of what she might do if he doesn't agree to her request.

He had no idea how it felt to be bitten by a vampire, and honestly he didn't want to find out, especially when he was going to be her first. She might be sloppy with her fangs and might end up draining him of life. And secondly, he had no idea what effects the bite might cause him. Maybe as her first bite he might become infatuated to her. He had definitely read a lot of books that said something about the first bite being the mate of the biter.

He didn't want to be mated to anybody just yet. He was barely nineteen, and had no intentions of starting a family anytime soon.

"N.. no" He stuttered, "I don't hate you" He finally managed to get control over his speech. His eyes remained fixated on the exit, while his mind ran through series of scenarios of his escape should this vampire decide to go rogue.

"Are you sure?" Nicole asked for confirmation. She could hear the rapid beating of his heart, and she could feel the warmth and flow of his blood from their touch. She so desperately wanted to bite him right now, but she didn't want to do so without his consent.

"Yeah, yeah I'm sure" Scott confirmed before slowly freeing himself from her hold. Maybe it wasn't a good thing to follow a vampire to it's place, what on earth was he thinking in the first place. If she had decided to kill him she could have done so and nobody would even hear him if he screamed.

"I'll see you in school tomorrow" Scott said lastly before walking out of the door. He hadn't realized it until now, but his temperature had dropped due to the mental stress he'd just been through. He could almost feel himself falling sick.

Questions ran through his mind immediately he crossed the door of Nicole's apartment. What did it feel like to be bitten? What happens when you're the first bite? He was curious. He wanted to find out, but he couldn't bring himself to accept the fact that he'd be a prey. What if she kills him, or ends up turning him without knowing? There were a lot of risks attached to letting her bite him.

A wave of nausea hit him, but he overcame the feeling. It was probably from entering an apartment that hadn't been properly cleaned in the last decade. Nicole was definitely something else, she was unlike any other vampire he'd met before. Something about her was different, he could tell. Maybe he was destined to meet her, or destined to be her first bite.
