Kapitel 403: The Seventh Heaven's Past

-<>-

"Did you hear? The world's greatest Blacksmith is forging a sword within the Seventh Heaven!"

An Angel with five wings upon her back turned. Her outfit was made of white and gold, its style similar to an assassin from a popular game franchise. Angels were capable of styling their own clothes, but many chose to keep the ones they were granted. This one decided against it and styled it to her choice.

"The Almighty One allowed that?"

"Yes! Apparently she was interest to see a sword capable of using Holy Energy be forged."

"Hm, how interesting."

"Want to go watch?"

"I doubt a Blacksmith would appreciate a crowd."

"It's fine! There's a crowd already!"

"Even more reason to be reserved, we have a duty to fulfill."

"Please~?"

The Angel sighed, "Fine, I'll go with you."

"Hurray! Come!"

Her hand was grasped as she was tugged across the Holy Realm. Although the one leading her was an Angel with only three wings, she never cared for it. The two had been friends for a long time. Although the five-winged Angel acted responsible, she actually enjoyed their antics.

Approaching the crowd they made way for the five-winged Angel. The two managed to push closer to the front, gaining a good view on the process. The sounds of metal being hammered into position became louder. As she watched she felt the Holy Energy flow towards the Blacksmith. It gathered around the metal, aiding in the forging process.

Each swing of the hammer caused a ringing sound to form, growing louder each time. Within just a few minutes, the sound became near deafening. The whole process was mesmerizing, and the Holy Energy gathered at a faster rate.

The five-winged Angel felt something was amiss. The Holy Energy was being gathered at too fast of a rate. The flow of Holy Energy was key in the workings of the Seventh Heaven. If it was being gathered like this-

Everything rumbled, the world shaking as each hammer swing was made. The five-winged Angel went full alert, "Everyone needs to leave! Now!"

"What? Why would we-"

The world cracked, everything began to fall apart at an alarming rate. The Almighty One raised a hand and ordered, "Stop the forging!"

Dang~

The hammer was still being swung as the Blacksmith continued to forge, their eyes glazed over. Each swing now forming a shockwave which further tore apart the Seventh Heaven. The Almighty One raised her hands and a powerful wave of Holy Energy spread across the entire realm. Frowning she ordered, "Stop the forging immediately!"

The five-winged Angel shook her head, "He's too absorbed, everyone needs to leave now! Get to the exit!"

They realized just how dire the whole situation became. Thousands of Angels began to swarm towards the exit. Guiding them along the five-winged Angel held a grimace, "Your Graciousness! How much longer can you hold this place?"

The Almighty One shook her head, "It's a lost cause! The damage is impossible for me to fix! I can only hold on for two more minutes!"

Holding back the destruction of a realm required great strength. For The Almighty One to give them two minutes was an incredible feat, even for a Fifth Stage. Sadly, it wasn't enough!

The five-winged Angel grabbed the arm of the three-winged Angel, "Leave, I will be right behind you. I'm going to help those that aren't fast enough!"

"I'll help too!"

"Go!"

"But-"

"Go! It's too risky!"

The three-winged Angel hesitated, but nodded, "If I don't see you at the exit I'm coming back for you!"

"That's good enough for me."

Dashing across the realm the five-winged Angel transported the slower and weaker Angels. One minute passed and only half the Angels made it through the exit. There simply wasn't enough time! She needed to be faster!

Golden light flashed as the five-winged Angel dashed about. Transporting as many Angels as possible. After forty-five seconds it became clear that not everyone was going to make it. Clenching her hands into a fist she dashed towards the Almighty One. She lacked the power to transport everyone to safety, but not The Almighty One! If only their power wasn't being used to keep the realm from falling apart!

Dang~!

"That Blacksmith still forges?!"

Stopping in front of The Almighty One she knelt, "Your Graciousness! I will hold the realm from falling, so please save everyone!"

"Nonsense, you won't be able to hold this for more than two seconds."

"That will be enough time for you to transport everyone to safety!"

"I will not be able to save you."

"I have accepted that! My life over everyone else's will be enough!"

"I will not have you sacrifice yourself."

"More Angels will die! Please!"

The Almighty One bit her lip, "Have you truly resolved yourself? If you hold a shred of hesitation I cannot save everyone."

"I have."

"Then, I shall abide to your request!"

The five wings on the Angel's back began to glow brightly. A golden energy began to flow from her every pore. Standing up she clapped her hands together, a mix of gold and white spread across the realm, "I trust in your power!"

A pressure descended upon her a moment later. It tore apart her body, in half a second her knees already gave out and she fell. Still he kept the output of energy, holding the realm for every millisecond she could.

The Almighty One patted her back, "Thank you, your sacrifice will not be forgiven."

The five-winged Angel smiled, "It is my duty."

Every Angel but her vanished in a golden light. A quarter second later the five-winged Angel's existence was wiped. The entire Seventh Heaven exploded, its fragments spreading across the Mortal's Domain.

. . .

"Where am I?"

The five-winged Angel looked around, everything seemed so dark. . .

A single glowing white sword sparkled within the dark area. Stumbling forward towards it she reached forward, "Why. . . ?"

Her hand rested upon its blade, "Who am I again. . . ?"

The blade hummed, as if trying to communicate. The five-winged Angel stared at it, "Oh. . . you want that? I can do that."

A small white light left the five-winged Angel's hand. It entered the blade and the sword hummed in approval. The five-winged Angel smiled, "That's right. My name is Lumen. I remember now. So this place is what remains of the Seventh Heaven?"

She looked around with sadness, "It's. . . destroyed."

The blade hummed again.

"You want a name? Well you're part of me now right? Is that how it works? Okay, I guess in this case your name will be. . . Lucidus Lumen! My friend is named Lucidus too, at least I think so. . ."

The blade hummed in response.

"Sorry if you don't like it, I am not very good with names."

Another hum.

"Then this will be goodbye, I think? I don't know if I can leave here. . ."

. . .

"Okay, goodbye. I don't know when I'll fade away."

The sword flashed and vanished, leaving the five-winged Angel alone in the broken realm. Only darkness to give her company. Curling up she simply waited. As for what she did not know. Whether she stopped existing, or if she was saved.

A long time passed, and Lumen was no longer sure that she was even real.
