Kapitel 124: Reasons

Clang~!

Akiol's blade deflected an attack. Interest gleaned in his eye, there was a significant change in their fighting style! This one was far better for intense skilled battle. He had to admit there was a few moments where he could have been injured, if he hadn't broken into the realm of {Hyperfocused Battle Intensity}.

Flowing Sea took a deep breath to reset his concentration. He was thoroughly startled at the skill level his opponent showed. Try as he might he couldn't land a blow on them. His gaze sharpened, "I dislike using the skills this game provides, for it is not my own power. However it seems like I have no choice."

"Don't hold yourself back so, no space for regrets in battle." Akiol replied.

The sound of a droplet of water splashing in a puddle was heard. The space surrounding the two fighters rippled. Akiol raised an eyebrow at this, "What's this?"

Flowing Sea spoke in a cold voice, "Let the waves collapse and space fold."

The surrounding area turned into violent waves. Akiol wasn't sure what this was, it felt like he was in water. However he surely was not!

The water shot into the air. It formed into a large wave and aimed to consume Akiol. A shield flashed around him. Using the Ring of Promises the waves that collapsed onto him were rendered useless. However the shield shattered at the end. Akiol commented, "So much for blocking three attacks."

Yet there was something strange! He still felt like he was in water!

"Feel it yet? The special effect from the ability. Regardless if you live or not you will constantly feel like your in water. Not only does this throw off your movements, but you will receive an additional debuff in your stats. With this alone my chance to win is doubled." Flowing Sea explained.

"That's nice of you, to explain what is going on. I appreciate it." Akiol thanked.

"I told you, this isn't my power."

"While it may not belong to you personally, you gained these skills through unknown ways. Through your own ability. It's a shame they are being wasted."

Buzz-

Akiol swung his sword in the air. The air split apart and followed his swing, causing an invisible ranged attack! However Flowing Sea was immensely wary and placed his own sword in a general guard! Managing to block the attack with his sword he felt the impact and frowned, this must have been a ranged Skill! Skills usually held cooldowns so this was a perfect opportunity to counter attack! Gripping his sword with renewed vigor he charged Akiol head on. With his hindered movements Akiol found it rough to fight back. His body felt sluggish and slow.

Originally Akiol tried to use a technique to enhance movement in the water, but without mana lines it was basically impossible to pull off properly. This sort of restriction was going to prove troublesome! Even though he could tell where an attack is coming from, Flowing Water could also see Akiol's movements. When he went to block Flowing Water would change the direction of his attack almost immediately.

Meanwhile Flowing Water was excited and shocked. Every move he did seemed to be seen through immediately. No matter his movements his opponent moved to counter it. Even with the current debuff a thought kept flowing through his head, "This guy. . . has reached that sort of state?"

Kan'na raised an eyebrow, "Oh? I'm surprised you survived."

Kirin wiped a bit of blood from the corner of her mouth, "Are you making all of these attacks like this? How are you so fluent?"

"Hey you noticed! My secret is tons of book lifting, meditating, and a ton of juice."

Laughing painfully Kirin responded with a Skill, "[Electrostasis]!"

Small ripples of electricity flowed away from Kirin. The small ripples turned numerous and surrounded the area in a sphere.

Kan'na remained unaffected by the spell due to her special shield. However she gained an interest on the spell. The strange electric current seemed to 'overwrite' the natural movement and flow of objects. Normally this would be impossible but it was magic, the world of impossible.

Since her shield disassembled incoming spells she was unaffected, but everything in the surrounding area held an unnatural stillness. Except for the pulsing lines of electricity.

Kan'na noticed her magic circles were slowly being eroded, which was unacceptable. At the tip of her fingers she created a complex magic circle. It was a greater scale of her magic barrier, however this one was focused on one particular element. That was of course lightning.

She enlarged the circle while activating it. As it grew in size it disabled the spell. Resuming all natural movements, while stopping the erosion on her spells.

Kirin finished their chant, "[Thundering Tribulation]!"

Clouds darkened and several thick lightning bolts descended. The magic circle helped weaken these bolts but they didn't stop.

Kan'na snapped her fingers and a magic circle arose. The lightning crashed into it making a deafening boom. The lightning stopped immediately after hitting the circle, however the magic circle also disintegrated into nothingness.

"Hahaha! You're incredible! As if you've studied magic your whole life!"

Kan'na dusted off her shoulders, "You a fan of complimenting your opponents? Not that I'm complaining, keep it coming!"

Kirin's grinned, "The thundering spirits guide, [Ligh-"

A small laser pierced Kirin's shield and shoulder. Kan'na grinned back, her hand in the shape of a gun pointed at Kirin. This was why she created magic circles in the first place, chants gave far too much time for someone to react.

Kirin held a hand over the wound, "[Lightning Absolution]", they finished.

Bzzzzzt!

Four crackling purple bolts extended behind Kirin. Every now and then they crackled and snapped.

Kan'na frowned, Kirin's chant should have been interrupted. The spell should have been canceled. Kirin saw her expression and questioned, "Not familiar with this sort of technique? [First Bolt]."

One of the lightning bolts moved. It shot to the sky before disappearing into the clouds. A second later a large sword made of electricity appeared. It descended rapidly towards Kan'na.

Kan'na stared at the sword, there was a technique to prevent chants being interrupted? That significantly changed her plans, she couldn't treat this battle like she did Rosadell. Her one major advantage over the standard Sorcerer was just entirely voided.

Placing her palms outwards she began to create various magic circles. This simply made things more interesting!

In the Party's old world, the domain of time:

Timeon stood in his domain. It was plain and empty, the only thing happening was a river flowing through the middle. He stared at the river, occasionally through a reflection he could see a moment of time. This could range from the smallest of events to world changing. However he had no control over this.

Yet in one small section of the river, there was a place unmoving. Timeon originally thought it was something like Laminar flow, however upon touching it he found a shocking discovery. It simply did not move.

What did this mean? What would happen? Everything in the river was affected by time, the river recorded events in time. That meant the small unmoving part was a place without control, without order, without a god or gods to keep things in order. Things must be moving towards its eventual end, that was simply fate.

So Timeon investigated, searching for answers. Within a year he found it, the place unaffected by the river. To his shock the place had a god, so why didn't it go by the river?

So he expended a lot of power to make a connection between the two worlds and held a meeting with the other god.

It was here that he found the most shocking discovery of it all. The mortals had managed to escape the natural force of the gods!

The god of that world was unable to do anything about it. For it was outside his already weakening power. Timeon knew if mortals found a way to free themselves from natural order it would set off a chain reaction between other worlds. A disaster would occur, something that the gods would never be able to contain.

So he struck a deal, offering to send the current heroes to the world if they succeeded. The other god agreed on one condition, if one of his own inhabitants were to help.

Timeon argued over this, stating that having an additional member with no knowledge of the group would only cause issues. However the other god claimed that the fate of the individual would be in their own hands. They would guide them down a path that would help out the situation.

So Timeon waited, gathering more power and hoping the heroes succeeded. Once they did he took action. Expending a large amount of his power to change several fine details of the transportation of the heroes.

They were originally supposed to arrive together at the same place at a different world, with the power they had earned, but he separated them. Redirected their souls into those who had just recently died. He reversed the consciousness of the other God's chosen, and placed them in a timeline where the issues began.

This was the extent of his power, he grew extremely weak. He would require thousands of years to regain the power he had spent. Yet he did not regret it, for the entirety of existence depended on this succeeding.

So he watched that unmoving part of the river, for the moment it continued to flow he knew he succeeded. . .
