Kapitel 237: Mana Control

Wrock grinned, "This is my party."

They began to introduce themselves. Kayne looked at Kan'na, "I see you are the one who he wanted the accessory for. Is it to your satisfaction?"

"It is! I find it incredibly helpful."

Kayne leaned back, "I am glad. Founder Wrock I assume these people are quite talented to be under your lead?"

"Oh you have something wrong, they aren't under my lead. They're under his."

Kayne was shocked, "You're. . . under someone else's command?"

Akiol interjected, "Not command, there isn't a strict order to this."

Wrock chuckled, "The strongest takes lead though right?"

"If it weren't like that Yielya would be in command."

"I refuse!" Yielya declined it almost immediately.

Kayne asked, "You can best Founder Wrock in combat?"

Akiol laughed, "Not with fists, I can only with my sword."

Wrock defended, "Which means in our strongest you still beat me."

Kayne suddenly asked, "May I see your combat abilities?"

Akiol asked, "Is there a need to?"

"Forgive me, but that is something I wish to see."

"We are participating in the competition, do you have a seat there?"

"Ah the competition! Yes, yes I do. I assume you will make it into the official thing?"

"We are planning on it."

"Great! I shall see you then. You're free to leave. I am excited for your performance."

Wrock made a thumbs up, "We hope to see you in the crowd!"

Travis opened his eyes. He noticed his body was completely healed, and his HP was full.

He looked around, by the way everything was placed and looked he assumed he was in Nana's tree.

"So you are awake! How do you feel?"

"In top shape, what happened?"

"It seems my stuff worked then, Zanyill saved you from your death. I have to say going against a Third Stage and surviving that long is incredibly impressive."

"I. . . learned something new in that battle."

"I would think so, now go see Zanyill. He should have it all set up."

"Have what set up?"

"The beginning of your Mana Manipulation training!"

Travis quickly stood, "Where is he?"

"Just outside."

Travis quickly moved, but before he exited he looked back towards Nana, "Thank you."

Nana waved a hand, "No worries! Now go."

Travis exited the tree and looked in front. Zanyill was standing in the distance, "You made it! Come, it's going to begin soon."

Travis walked to his side, "What is going to begin?"

"You see this?"

Travis looked towards the direction Zanyill was gesturing. An assortment of herbs lay on a magic circle. The circle was slowly increasing in glow and a strange gust seemed to flow into the middle of it.

Zanyill smiled, "You see this is slowly gathering the ambient mana, my increasing the density of mana it makes it easier for you to make your first contact with it. Controlling mana comes in three stages. Entry, Domain, and Manifestation. Each stage has an increasingly harder way to reach it. Right now, we are going to make you come into contact with the third. Doing this should blow away the Entry stage, allowing you to feel mana almost immediately."

A sudden surge of the gust formed and Travis saw a clear droplet of water forming above the middle of the circle.

Zanyill continued, "This is the opportunity of a lifetime, after all the stage of Manifestation is not easy. Finding people with that level of control. . . they certainly would be extraordinary."

Travis was surprised, to think he could come across information regarding mana this easily! He quickly made a mental note of this.

The gust suddenly stopped and a clear orb hovered above the circle. Zanyill gestured at it, "Go on, touch it."

Travis walked to it and reached out his hand.

'Hold it, there are some things that old man hadn't told you.'

"What?"

'A manifestation of pure mana, to come into contact with it without completely knowing how to manipulate mana is incredibly dangerous. It could completely ruin you!"

Travis hesitated, "So why would he?"

'Because it's also an opportunity, if you succeed your progress in mana control will not only be smooth, but fast as well.'

"So an opportunity with risk is it?"

'That's why I warned you.'

"Do you know my choice?"

'Of course I do.'

Travis grinned, "Good that you know me well."

Travis gripped the orb and it suddenly felt like his every nerve was about to burst. His entire body felt like it was rejecting everything, forcing it out. The pain made Travis kneel, but his grip never faltered.

Zanyill grinned, "So that sword told him the dangers, but he still did it? What a crazy guy!"

An energy entered and ran rampant inside Travis, he immediately knew what it was.

Mana.

The very thing that made the world so magical, the very thing that allowed things to happen. The ruler of the world. It guided time down its path, it flowed through every living thing! By controlling this it allowed individuals to rise above the others!

Everyone was capable of manipulating the mana they were born with. However the kind outside of them was foreign, something new and not so willing to be controlled. Yet the outside mana was far stronger than the one inside someone.

Travis tried to force it under control, but his body forced him to stop. He gained a sudden epiphany. No wonder people failed to reach Second Stage early! His very skills, every player's skills forced mana to do what they wanted. Controlled by the game system, it almost blocked players from fully coming into contact with it.

The name mana control was incorrect. He understood why it was occasionally called Mana Manipulation. You could never control mana, no one could. Instead guiding it would be the correct term. By guiding it you could increase your affinity with mana, make it more friendly with you. Until the beginning struggles become easier to do than breathing.

It all makes sense now! The reason why the Guilds stopped information of this from getting out. There was talent to this as well! Races rarely mattered, people naturally had more affinity from the start! While everyone could reach mana Manifestation, talented people would certainly have an easier and faster time reaching that point.

If some random extremely talented individual got their hands on mana then the power of the guilds would be nothing!

It was them stopping the players from growing at the root! Limiting their ways of growing!

Travis grit his teeth, it was them again and again! Was everything preventing his progress in his past timeline the Guilds' fault?!

A thought passed in his head, after the competition 'that' update would happen. Granting him the perfect opportunity to strike. The Guild's would fall, all of them.

He began to guide the mana through his body, due to it beings in his ownership this was easy. He used this mana to mingle with the foreign mana. Slowly having it get used to his guiding hand. Every moment he could feel something tearing through in his body, but he still went slowly. Eventually he found that he could guide the foreign mana slightly. He then immediately began to focus on this, increasing his level of control.

After an unknown amount of time he had fully stopped the rampaging mana in his body. He then began to move this control outside. This was far more difficult, he was entering their territory unlike before.

However due to his contact with it he quickly learned the way to guide it along. When he stopped and focused around him, he noticed the orb was gone. He stood up and looked around.

Zanyill descended next to him, "So how is it?"

Travis lifted his hand and moved as much mana as possible. Zanyill grinned, "Great! It was a success, now that you entered Entry level stage your training can begin. Spend today fully understanding what you can control. Tomorrow we shall increase that limit."

"Okay."

"I'll leave you to it then."

Zanyill left and Travis was given some system notifications.

<User has learned [Mana Control]!>

<Due to [Mana Control] all skills receive a 1% increase in damage and efficiency.>

Travis narrowed his eyes, was this?

[Mana Control

The mana flows throughout you, every living being feels it in their bones. But you reached your grasp further, and learned to control the mana outside of your being.

Level:

Entry

-Due to your unique entry Efficiency gain is increased 3x

Effect:

-1% Increase in damage in all skills

-1% reduced MP cost in all skills

-1% boost to effects in all skills

Efficiency:

1%

(Increase in efficiency will boost skill effects.)]

The [Mana Control] skill, this would become quite well known after the next update. However Travis' had a slight difference in it. The entry bonus.

Players almost never went beyond the Entry level, many couldn't even reach 100% Efficiency at that. Travis knew why this was, but he considered it odd. Wasn't the game system restricting the use of mana? Or was it increasing it?

He put the thought away, for now he would increase his efficiency.
