A chance!
Such thoughts ran through Hanks mind. He had witnessed the astonishing battle between Dot and the mysterious challenger.
Despite Dot being the victory, they would undoubtedly be exhausted from the battle. Due to Dot's extreme level of danger, Hank's senses were at their peak.
He approached Dot carefully. His footsteps devoid of any sound. His presence blended in with his surroundings. For years he was a legendary Assassin. Trained to the pinnacle of stealth and martial arts. Thousands had fallen by his hand, and more will follow.
His mind and heart calmed. It was another job, just like all the others. Another death by his hand. No matter how dangerous they seemed, it was just another person at the end of the day. Dot paused, and Hank did so as well without missing a beat. The one thing Hank was confident in was his stealth, he didn't need the System given Skills to blend in.
The reason why he wore white was to further challenge his ability. Nothing was more revealing than a bright white color. Especially in an area mostly green and brown.
Someone at Dot's level would have noticed his presence by now, but surely wouldn't locate him directly. He planned to use this as a distraction. The momentary confusion would create an opportunity to strike.
He just needed patience, something he never lacked. An Assassin's job needed patience the most. When the most opportune time presents itself, you strike. No matter how long it took to arrive.
Dot shifted his stance, "You can come out now, I know you're here."
Hank remained silent, such a proclamation would only work on amateurs. He was a professional.
Dot raised a hand and released a massive beam. A good chunk of the trees were utterly destroyed along with the ground. Dot paused for a moment before speaking, "I will do this for every direction. You will die before I give you a chance to speak."
Patience, that level of damage was uncalled for. Yet his heart did not waver. No matter what Hank would wait for the right time.
Dot lifted a bright white sword and swung it. A ray of white light extended outwards and carved through the trees. Now a majority of the area was destroyed, and Dot was slowly zeroing in on his location.
Dot spoke, "It's impressive you manage to stay hidden despite all of this. However do you really choose to die in obscurity?"
Almost, his years of experience was telling him the opportunity was slowly arriving. Just a little longer!
Dot raised his hand again, a ball of dark energy gathered at his palm. Hank's breathing halted for a just a moment. He needed the right timing. . . !
The moment the beam fire Hank moved. Using a teleport Skill he appeared behind Dot, his dagger thrusting forward directly for Dot's heart.
He felt a hand grab his wrist. Dot stared at his face, "White Phantom, I'm glad you're here. I have so many questions to ask." Dot was too fast! He couldn't even see them move! This was their strength after such an intense battle?!
Rapidly pulling out his other dagger Hank delivered a swift stab towards Dot. The attack almost missed, but managed to graze Dot's leg.
This only seemed to frustrate Dot further, "Eternal Candle! What do they want with me?!"
Hank's expression didn't waver. He would not give up a single bit of information. So he immediately replied, "What are you on about? I'm here for the event reward!"
"Nonsense, I know you work for Eternal Candle. Why else would you target the Guilds?!"
"I attacked them to prove that not only you can stand up against them. What the hell does a candle have to do with all of this?!"
Dot's grip adjusted slightly, yet in that split moment Hank seized an opening. Freeing his wrist he instead grabbed Dot's arm. Moving quickly Hank pinned him down and stabbed at Dot's back.
Dot vanished from his clutches. With his senses screaming Hank rolled forward and dodged an incoming attack. Flipping his daggers into a reverse grip his eyes gleamed with an evil light.
Dot reached for his other sword and Hank dashed forward. Although Hank excelled at Assassination, he believed he excelled further in close combat!
A swift strike to the neck, that would start his combo. Then before Dot can pull out his other sword he would land another three hits.
Clank-
A white blade blocked Hank's dagger. Although it wasn't as he planned Hank reacted to the change accordingly.
He delivered a flurry of blows, constantly switching up his grip on his daggers. He threw feints into his actions in hope of making Dot slip up.
His actions weren't completely futile, Dot remained on the defensive. Only blocking or dodging. With each passing moment Hank was able to see a probability in winning. He stepped forward, closing the distance further. Using swords at such a close range was a poor idea. His daggers held an edge in combat now!
Wind bellowed slightly around his feet. His speed suddenly picked up as his flurry of attacks grew quicker and more fierce. He could do it! The exhaustion from the previous battle was undoubtedly taking its toll on Dot.
Hank never believed in fair fights. He fought to win! He fought to kill his target as fast as possible with the least amount of effort. Utilizing every advantage in his arsenal and then more!
He just needed a few more successful hits for [Ill-Omen Winds] to take effect. Once that happened victory was assured!
Clang~
Dot parried one of Hank's attacks, disrupting the flow. Feeling a cut form on his leg Hank ignored the sharp pain and thrust his dagger forward.
Dot parried the dagger to the side and delivered a swift kick to Hank. The force sent Hank rolling back. Quickly recovering he suppressed an arising cough.
Dot pointed his sword, "Enough, state what Eternal Candle planned to do with me!"
Hank felt a terrifying pressure fall onto him. He felt his body grow weaker, as if submitting to a greater power.
He fought against the strange ability, he had a mission to complete!
White Phantom!
Travis condensed his War Sight full blast onto the figure. He would get his answers!
"Tell me! What does Eternal Candle want from me?!"
White Phantom desperately fought against the pressure, "I told you! I don't know what you're talking about!"
It became obvious that White Phantom would not speak. Although this infuriated Travis, he didn't let it show. Flinnder had already assisted him in finding out who and what Eternal Candle was. He didn't need to wait very long.
White Phantom clearly only excelled in actual fighting ability and was not strong in a more literal sense. Travis couldn't afford to use any Berserk Skills, so it was a relief to see that White Phantom wasn't too big of a threat.
Lifting his sword Travis spoke, "Since you don't wish to talk, I'll end you here."
Swinging downwards he aimed to finish White Phantom with a single blow.
Clang~
White Phantom blocked the attack and slowly stood up, with a flick of his wrist he knocked away Travis' weapon.
Travis grit his teeth, he didn't sense any chaotic mana! White Phantom had several strange yellow lines scattered across his face. Like the traces of a circuit board, every turn they took was at a fine angle.
It became much more troublesome, if Travis used a Berserk Skill he would face a stat punishment. Although he was significantly stronger than most of the playerbase, he couldn't risk the backlash. There are still several hidden powers that will make themselves visible soon.
Travis would have to rely on the power of [Averoth's Lust for Battle] again!
Hank had thoroughly studied Dot's combat data. Memorizing every movement he made, every attack he would take. An Assassin never goes unprepared. A target must be thoroughly researched for a successful and clean assassination. No matter how small they may seem.
Dot had plenty of videos of his combat released. Getting a hand on such valuable data was the easiest thing Hank had done for a while. With so many different angles, with so many different types. The data was astronomical.
It was clear that Dot was someone who rapidly evolved during combat. Prolonging the battle would be detrimental. The faster he ended this the better.
Additionally the data proved that Dot was heavily reliant on his in-game Skills. Constantly using them during battle, including various power ups. Hank had used Dot's confidence. Acting panicked and unsure was enough for Dot to lower their guard. Such an opportunity granted him two things.
First was the usage of his hidden ability: [Killer Coded]. When he revealed this ability to the Young Miss she immediately had him lock it down. Such an ability needed to kept hidden.
[Killer Coded:
A devious ability granted only to those who prove the most dangerous. The lingering souls of your victims fuel your killer instinct.
