Kapitel 107: A Race Changer

Travis held a large pouch, inside were three palm sized shurikens. Travis knew what this was, it was a sub weapon. The knives he used constantly were also a sub weapon.

Sub weapons were decently rare, it wasn't too difficult to acquire one. However a player would need to work towards it. Since it is a sub weapon it's damage couldn't compare to the main weapon. Instead it served as assistance with combos. These could range to anything, but most of them were ranged.

Travis knives were called Serrated Knives, they gave bleeding to the enemy if two hit. The downside was that Travis only had ten. Every time he used one he tried his best to recover it, yet sometimes it would break.

The shurikens were a bit more unique.

[Returning Shurikens (sub weapon)]

A shinobi trained desperately to become skilled at throwing Shurikens. His desperation grew onto these three. They will always return to their owner.

Attack:

50

Extra Skills:

{Returning: 15 seconds after being thrown the shuriken will return to the pouch.}

It was a gift from Flinnder for passing. They were worse than his knives, however they held a much better use. With Travis' Artifact their use skyrocketed.

Travis equipped the pouch and spent some time to master throwing them. Since these Shurikens were built to curve towards their opponent it took some getting used to.

He mastered it in a few hours. Then he practiced throwing them while using his Artifact. Within another hour he gained an understanding on how to use it properly.

Satisfied with his progress he returned to his room and logged off. Taking off his helmet he took care of his necessities. As he took a good look around his living space he sighed, "It's about time to move somewhere better."

He had made a significant profit from the many items he sold at the auction. Since he automatically sold the gold he made his bank account figures almost reached six digits.

He would need an improved living space if he wanted to improve himself. So he began to look online for housing.

"Alright cooldown is off, hold it still!" Akiol shouted.

Rough smacked their shield, "Come on big guy!"

Clang~!

The mech swung downwards. Rough received the blow and dropped to a knee from the force, cracks spread across the ground beneath them.

Akiol charged forward, as the mech was lifting its sword he slashed its chest with [Dimensional Pierce]. It cut through the metal leaving a cross shaped scar on its chest. Akiol absorbed his sword and gripped the opening, trying to pry it open. The metal refused to budge.

Not giving up Akiol used [Aura Boost] in strength. He began to glow red and the metal began to move. Opening a large enough space Akiol dived in. Once inside he began to tear through the mech. Ripping and breaking whatever made the mech move. In less than a minute the mech's lights dimmed. It fell to its knees and began to fall over.

Akiol quickly escaped the mech before he got trapped. The mech fell over completely, landing with a loud crash.

Everyone cheered, "We are free!"

Akiol allowed them to loot the mech, he didn't mind letting them have the loot. Quill, who looted the mech, held up a key.

"I assume that's our ticket out?" Akiol asked.

"Yep! So let's get moving." Quill answered.

The returned to the strange bunker, in the wall was an indent the same size as the key. Basil was standing next to it so Akiol failed to spot it the first time.

Quill fit the key in the slot and the wall began to shake. Slowly it opened showing a grand interior.

The room was much larger than the bunker, tables littered with machine parts were everywhere. Books and pieces of paper scattered in various places.

The group spread out, investigating whatever caught their attention. Akiol tinkered with a box that when twisted turned into a sphere. It provided nothing else but a bit of entertainment.

"Hey everyone, take a look at this." Think called.

Everyone went to look, Think had uncovered a large clear tube. Inside was a assortment of robotic arms holding various tools. Think was currently reading a piece of paper while to tinkering with a control panel next to the tube, "This is an interesting machine. The notes claim that it has the ability to turn a human into a robot. . . or something like it."

Everyone was impressed, it was a race changer! These were decently rare, however this is one that hasn't been found yet!

"Oh. . . it requires a unique fuel source. It says here that they only acquired enough for one try in their lifetime. That means only one person can change. . ." Think poured a bucket of cold water on the mood. This disappointed many of them.

Think looked up, "So who wants to go? I pass on this, I haven't done much in the battles."

"I too, if anything Akiol should get it. He is the reason we were able to get here." Rough offered.

Akiol quickly turned down the offer, "I like my race, someone else can have it."

"Oh yeah you're a slime aren't you? Well anyone else?" Think asked.

Basil also turned down the offer, "I will pass on being a robot. It doesn't seem to fit with being a priest."

"Then Torch can have it, we all know that your quick thinking saved us. Besides my quest gives me a chance for a unique race as well." Quill added.

Torch was singled out and essentially gifted the race change. Not wanting to be rude they gracefully accepted.

Akiol smiled at the interaction, he hadn't seen many good willed individuals while playing this game. Many of them seemed to be arrogant and had selfish desires. It was a good change of scenery to him.

Torch stepped into the tube. Think toggled a few switched and a button arose. Before pressing it they asked, "You ready? It looks like it's gonna be painful."

Torch nodded and Think pressed the button. The mechanical arms whirred to life and began working on Torch. As they worked everyone cringed at the sight. Torch's flesh was removed piece by piece as it was replaced by some machinery. It was a gruesome sight.

Not wanting to see anymore Think flicked a switch and the tube turned into a solid color, preventing anyone from seeing the process.

Akiol took a look around before saying, "Anything else?"

Torch's screams filled the room for a moment, silencing anyone who wanted to speak up.

They went back to searching the place. Scouring through the miscellaneous machinery. Akiol went to pick up a strange hexagon shaped object, but a mechanical arm appeared suddenly and stabbed towards Akiol's hand. He twisted his hand and caught the arm, with a quick pull he ripped it from wherever it was connected.

Akiol's interest in the hexagon grew and he picked it up. When he picked it up he inspected it and the game provided some information.

[Hexagon Multitool (sub weapon)]

An object with six different uses. Created by the genius scientist ######.

Extra Skills:

{Tool 1 (Shield): A high energy shield appears out of the Multitool. Providing exceptional defense.}

{Tool 2 (Laser): A high intensity beam shoots out of the Multitool, capable of piercing most objects.}

{Tool 3 (Repulser): Pulses with a large energy force, can either send the user back or push something away.}

{Tool 4 (Magnet): Pulls an object towards the user.}

{Tool 5: (Extended Rope): Creates a rope capable of sticking to most surfaces.}

{Tool 6 (First Aid): Administers basic healing formula.}

Akiol was intrigued by the item, so he equipped it and messed with the settings. The hexagon item rested in Akiol's left palm. It's size was no bigger than a coin. It left no discomfort, though Akiol probably wouldn't have noticed if it did.

The tube whistled, gathering everyone's attention. As everyone circled the tube they waited for the reveal. The tube opened and inside was an entirely different being.

It was a robot indeed, the arms were made of a strange metal. Their entire body was a set of metal beams forming an endoskeleton. Blue lines could be seen inside, all of them coming from a singular diamond shaped power cell.

Torch flexed his fist, the metal making clicking sounds from touching each other. He began to speak, "This is more than just a race change. It's also a class change."

Their voice turned cold and electronic, void of emotion. They walked over to a table of mechanical parts and began disassembling them. Taking a few of the pieces they began covering their endoskeleton with it. Eventually most of the machinery was taken apart. Torch was now an armored robot, though mismatched in color.

"It's quite unique actually. I can modify myself to whatever I want. I know all sorts of information about the machinery now. I seem to now own the place, it has turned into my personal work space." Their cold voice said.

Quill questioned, "So what can you do? In fact, what changed?"

Torch responded, "In terms of what I can do, nothing right now. I need to modify myself first. What changed? My class turned to Ancient Mechanical Engineer. I no longer have the original stats, it now is my strength and weaknesses of myself. There's so much I can do it's a little overwhelming."

Akiol also had a question, "So how do you get stronger?"

"By upgrading myself with various materials. At least that's how I understand it. A lot of what I can do is locked behind a level barrier, so I still need to level up. For now let me show you what I can do."

They exited the strange bunker and entered the dark room. Torch clicked their hand and the room immediately brightened.

"This is my workshop, though it's quite empty at the moment."
