Mattheus and Vincent only surfaced from the library when the former was called to a late lunch with his family.
By that time, the twenty-year-old was too distracted by his task to gather up the nerves to be uncomfortable seeing Helena nee Crown again. It was already taking all his focus not to get distracted by this or that collection he had found the library possessed in the records they were skimming through.
"Mattheus! I heard you went right to the library after waking up at your usual time." This was his mother's greeting as she gestured him to sit next to her at a rather informal table in the garden gazebo. "Honestly, is this not a break from your duties?"
"Good day, Mother." Mattheus then gave her an almost puckish smile. "Getting away from the capital's aristocracy is a pleasant break. And I enjoy reading for leisure, to be fair."
