Mattheus immediately corrected himself, unable to remain feeling petty against someone like the young Princess Bellaine, who had only turned seventeen this year. 

The young woman probably wasn't in the best position either, despite being the Princess of New Albion. Unlike being a prince, the title of a princess was essentially a gilded cage.

He couldn't blame Princess Bellaine for looking at the youngest Crown son as the potential savior to a marriage she did not want with a man a decade older and rather plain-looking at that. 

But neither could he feel anything but burdensome and mildly repulsed when it came to the young princess's feelings.

Whoever put the idea in Bellaine Morgaine's head about Mattheus Crown being her ideal groom, whether it was the Queen or the young girl herself, it was not appreciated at all. It was the opposite of flattering.

Why?

As it had been one of the points that made the Crown Prince resent the Original.
