I relented and invited Sam over so we can work on the assignment together. We sat down on the couch, and Sam took out his notebook.

/"Okay, so, what should our paper be?/" I asked.

/"I have an idea,/" Sam said.

I looked at Sam.

/"How about we write about how a parent interferes with their child’s relationship?/" Sam asked.

I arched an eyebrow.

/"Think about it. The story will have all the elements along with human emotion. It’s the criteria of the assignment,/" Sam reasoned.

/"Do you understand this topic?/" I questioned.

/"Yep,/" Sam answered.

/"Okay, smartass, give it your best shot,/" I remarked. I’m curious to see what Sam writes.

I sat there as Sam started writing and waited. It took a few minutes, but Sam finished, then read to me what he wrote.
