Kapitel 37: Marked and a Assault

The pain just lasted for Dharen, he could not tell how long the pain had been going on for now, but it truly felt like it would never end.

Every one of his muscles were on fire, his blood was like magma as it raced around his body far quicker than it ever had before. He had not even mentioned his heart yet, it was like it was trying to jump out of his body. Each heartbeat, he could hear within his own ears. It just was not stopping at all.

And then, it was gone.

He was still screaming, even though the pain had ended. He just did not even notice it had stopped, he did not expect it to, as he was stuck in the loop of pain deep within his mind.

Finally,.he began to calm down as his mind finally was able to process the pain had ended at last. He slowly, still gripping onto the Black Blade tightly, began to walk out of the chamber towards the exit.

There was a cold breeze as he walked, making his body feel slightly cold, but some things did confuse him a little, it was as if his body had become a bit more muscular and not the bulky kind but instead the lean and athletic kind.

Eventually, as he felt himself finally returning to normal he had reached the exit, the same place he had walked in, and unbeknownst to himself the jewel on his blade began to glow brightly. The Dragon his soul was inside had decided to test his Dharen and was manipulating things silently.

Dharen, not knowing what he was about to walk into, pressed his hand onto the sigil and as before he had found himself transported elsewhere. But as he looked around he quickly realised this was not where he was meant to be at all.

He had entered that place through the sigil in the armoury and now it looked as if he had just walked out at one of the entrances into the academy..

Looking around, he did not see anyone, however, this confused him as he could have sworn that there was meant to be people who were on guard and protecting the entrances, and that was when he heard it.

The clash of blades.

The screaming.

The sound of battle.

He knew almost instantly what was happening and where, he quickly set off in a sprint eager to help everyone defend this place from the Inquisition and more than that, he wanted to try out this sword and see what it could do.

There were many things he did not notice at that moment. He was moving far quicker than normal, and his thought process was quicker than normal too, these all small parts of his lineage being awakened, at least part of it had been.

Soon enough he found himself at the gate, this thought had a large gaping hole within it, and around that were bodies of students, professors and inquisitors. For now though, it seems like the inquisitors had been pushed back to the bridge but still the fighting was fierce and it did not seem like they would be giving up anytime soon.

Dharen, he paused then to take a deep breath, gripped the sword a little more tightly and walked through the gate.

His arrival was noticed by both sides almost simultaneously, as both had someone at their rear watching and commanding everyone that was fighting.

For the side of the academy, Dharen was surprised to be able to recognise the man who was leading them. If he remembered correctly, his name was Alexi.

"You are…Where are our reinforcements? We asked for them ages ago!" Alexi was forced to yell his words just to get over the noise that was coming from the battle.

Dharen just shook his head as he spoke, "I am here by some kind of accident, I do not know about any reinforcements, but I will help at least."

Hearing his words, Alexi looked defeated. "Fine, just go and do what you can."

Dharen saw his face and did not say anything as he walked past.

Every footstep he took, his memories of all he had seen had come into his mind. From that battlefield until now. It was laughable really, he wanted to stay away from them, and yet here he was walking into one.

He had learned a lot so far about this world and what it meant to live here, and yet he did not enjoy this. He never would, but if he wanted peace he would have to force people to stop bothering him, he would have to end the attacks from the Inquisition, or else everything would be pointless.

His inner monologue ended halfway as he suddenly found two inquisitors charging him down.

He did not hear their words as his body simply moved far quicker than before. He had noticed it this time too, but now was not the time for him to understand what was happening.

His weapon clashed with theirs, he blocked them with ease, as if he was stronger than before. He then ignored his surprise, unlike the inquisitors, who he imagined had faces of surprise as his sword cut them down in mere moments.

He would be lying if he said he was not surprised at how easy this had been, but it did not matter all that much right now, as he slowly began to move into the battle itself.

The fight had long since lost all semblance of order as the lines on the side of the academy were starting to be broken through, not for the students and professors running, but due to them being pushed back. Their lines were buckling and no one was leading them.

Not from here, or not from the back with Alexi seemingly being defeated already.

Dharen could see this easily, and he assumed the leader of these Inquisitor's would have noticed.

So he did the only thing that made sense to him at that moment, although it was also insane.

He forced his way to the front and then, he simply did something he never dreamed of before.

He just killed. One thrust to the front, a parry and slash. A shoulder barge then downwards cut. Each simple combination led to more and more of the inquisitors being cut down. This soon was noticed as he had hoped with both sides backing off, leaving him alone in the centre.

Silence had descended onto the battlefield, raising his sword, its black blade still dripping with crimson blood. His face had a splatter of the time, and clothes which had been torn from his extreme movements.

He just stood there and stared at them before yelling.

"Warriors of the academy, form a spearhead. Prepare to charge."
