Waldegrave, one of the most prestiged families ages prior. However, with the ascension of the current Patriarch, Javier of Waldegrave, the family has fallen into a large disrepair. It had been in decline due to a series of bad financial and political decisions, such as favouring the wrong crown prince for the throne of Dernf. This has caused many potential investors from the family to walk away, leaving them with less income than usual.

When Javier took charge, the situation was bleak but it was still very much possible for someone competent to turn things around. They still had large revenue streams from the lands they held, and by toning down some expenses, the family could recover without much difficulty.
