Kapitel 2: Earth, Home of Avengers

At The Banatar's speed, it only took twenty minutes to reach the outskirts of the Earth.

"What a little star." Matt commented as he saw a small orange ball in the distance. If compared to all the stars he had ever seen, the Sun was tiny.

"There were legends that a God lived inside it, so we can't judge it by its size." Peter Quill said to the boy.

"I am Groot."

"Haha! Groot said that your comic book stories are not true." Matt translated what Groot said.

"How could a tree know?" Rocket spoke aloud, which surprised everyone because he never stood next to Quill.

"Look. The Blue Planet." Gamora warned.

Through the ship's visor, everyone saw the small water planet, whose atmosphere was filled with satellites. Despite all the space junk, it was indeed a beautiful planet from afar, because it glowed amidst the darkness of the universe.

The closer they got, the more beautiful this world seemed to Matt's eyes. In a way, it was a little reminiscent of Xandar.

Gamora, after putting the ship on autopilot, turned her chair around and said, "Matt, we're going to explain some things to you now."

The boy, with his white eyes and black hair, looked at her as if he already knew what she would say, 'They called us because they got a Xandarian signal and blah, blah, blah...'

"We'll have to split up." Peter Quill interfered.

"What?!" Rocket and Matt shouted in unison.

Gamora soon began to explain why, "By now, Rocket must have told you that we received a request from the Avengers, so we could help them with a Xandarian signal, right?"

"No..." The Raccoon and the boy said at the same time again.

"Anyway, we will help them, but the current Avengers are no longer the same ones we have known for several years. So we can't risk exposing you like this." Gamora finished explaining.

Matt knew that the Guardians had traveled with the God Thor just before meeting him in Knowhere, however, one day he mysteriously disappeared, which caused the Guardians to start hiding.

Since the destruction of Xandar, and consequently the death of the Nova Corps, the galaxy had become even more messed up. Genocide was commonplace, and many coveted the infinity jewels so that they could remake the BLIP.

Knowing all this chaos, it was not strange that the Guardians chose to hide one of the few existing Xandarians, and Matt understood this.

The young man just nodded sadly and asked, "Where will I stay then? You don't know anything about Earth."

"You will stay with a friend of ours until we come to get you. I can already tell you in advance that we don't know how long it will take." Quill clarified.

"I am Groot."

"Yes, I will miss you too, Groot."

Although he was often annoyed and frustrated with the Guardians, Matt truly loved them, so he was discouraged.

"Preparing for entry into the exosphere." Gamora warned everyone. Boom! The ship shook as it collided with atmospheric resistance. "Now, the thermosphere." Boom!

In the diagonal position that the ship entered Earth, Matt could see the true beauty of the planet: bright lights everywhere. That reminded him even more of the pictures and videos he saw of Xandar while he was on Knowhere.

"How beautiful..." The young man said as he watched it all.

Since it was dawn, Gamora opted to land The Banatar in the center of Central Park itself, after all, there would only be a few street dwellers and naughty couples around.

Tumm! The characteristic roar and thud of The Banatar landing informed everyone that the ship's feet were already on solid ground.

"Peter, you take him. Because if the Earthlings see two green-skinned people, a raccoon, and a talking tree, they're sure to call the police." Gamora instructed. Most of the time, Gamora was the person who looked the most like the leader and was also the one who interacted the least with the rest of the group.

Drax once told that Gamora and Peter Quill once had a romance, but Matt didn't believe that was possible, because Gamora was beautiful and strong, and Petter, well... he was the music guy.

Matt said goodbye to everyone with a tight hug and said with a smile, "Take good care of my armor."

After that, the back door of The Banatar opened and Matt stepped out accompanied by Quill. They walked for a few minutes in the dark Central Park, whose trees fluttered in the cold early spring wind.

A short time later, they found a trail and followed it to the street. Matt found that town very quiet. 'I wonder if Earthlings don't have the custom of feasting of stealing food at night?' The boy still thought that Earth and Knowhere were identical, except for the forest of rocks.

When they got close to the street, Peter put his hand on his shoulder, which made him break. "What is it?" The boy inquired.

"Do that thing of yours with your hair and eyes." Peter Quill said while making strange gestures with his index finger.

Matt was a transmorph who could change only superficial features of his appearance, such as eyes, hair, and height.

Matt looked at Peter leniently. "You know I don't like doing that."

"There's nothing to do. White eyes are not common on Earth, and it's best if you don't draw attention to yourself while we're away."

The boy just shrugged as if he had no option. His snow-white eyes turned purple. "Better now?"

"That pink will attract attention even from the television."

"Tele-what?"

"Television. It's like a broadcasting station where they play some programs. When we came here, I learned how to cook Groot's cabbages by watching this."

"Sounds interesting."

After thinking about what color would go with the environment, Matt opted for blue, since it reminded him of Earth as seen from space.

"Perfect, now let's go." said Peter Quill, who had been satisfied.

As they walked through the streets of New York, Peter Quill also found it strange how few people there were compared to when he was here the first time. Matt stopped a few times to see what was in some store windows and found it all very old-fashioned.

"At least the clothes are somewhat similar." He said as he looked at an old Ironman poster.

Quill, who was a few steps ahead, saw that Matt was lagging and said: "What are you winding up? Come on! We're just a few blocks from the webhead's house."

"Webhead?" That name was a little familiar to Matt.
