Jian happily rolled around in bed for a while. Since he had skipped on making breakfast, he had ample time to get ready for school. He carefully packed his bag and wore his slightly worn-out uniform.
His stomach growled loudly.
Frowning, he glanced at the remaining money. he had to save it all up for his future plans, but right now his stomach was protesting.
He was pretty sure his grandmother would not provide him with breakfast.
Instead of hoping for a miracle, he would rather just use this money to buy himself breakfast and lunch.
With a casual smile, he tossed the wad of cash in the bag and walked out of his room.
Outside, the happy family of two were having their breakfast.
"Bian my child. Eat this. You have lost a lot of weight these past few days." His grandmother's glaring eyes fell on him. "it's all because of this hail bringer. If he bullies you again in school, tell Grandma will deal with him."
Jian gave her a look.
"What? Are you expecting food? slackers get nothing," she tossed a banana peel his way.
Jian dodged and wordlessly exited the house.
"Child wait," his old grandpa came running after him. He shoved a two-dollar note in his palm. "Eat something warm, okay? Do not go to school on an empty stomach,"
Jian clutched the warm note with a smile on his face. "Hmm…"
"Lovely child," the old man sighed, gazing towards the door. "I… I'm sorry… I."
"It's okay," he held his wrinkled hand. "She is growing old," he whispered in order not to make the man feel awkward.
"Even so she…."
"It's okay, grandpa." Casting a soothing smile, he dashed off to school.
Without Bian to chip in on his bus money today, he didn't take the bus. Instead, he chose to walk the scenic route. They were on the outskirts of the city, near a town of fruit farms. The whole village dealt with fruit wines, which was quite successful.
There were more trees than humans in this village. This was also the reason why they were able to escape the initial infestation of the aliens. They hid out in the farms eating fresh fruits.
But as the aliens started to gather, they moved closer into the town hiding in subways.
Jian touched the note in his pocket with a smile. 'Now I have to think of a way to separate the old pair~'
They had been together for almost fifty years. Even though his grandmother was abusive, Grandpa never left her. he was a feudal man who followed the social rules. He would never leave his wife on his own initiative.
'So, I have to make my grandma leave him… hmm I think I have a way,'
The wang family was his way out.
Sixteen years ago, Bian's mother ran back to her parent's place in tears, fully pregnant. No one knew who the father was. The only clue she left was that the man was very powerful, and they had to leave to protect their lives.
The old couple packed their bags and moved out of the city to this village.
Initially, Grandma Lui was very skeptical of the children. She wanted her to abort them. but Bian's mother was stern about it. she wanted the child.
The old lady never had any feelings for the child's life. she even disregarded the twins when they were born. The neighbor's aunt had even once told him that his grandma tried to snuffle him to death by covering him up in a down jacket in summer.
The twins almost died that day.
After that, the neighbor kept a vigilant eye on the children.
His grandmother Lui became annoyed by the crying children and wanted to drop them off at the orphanage far away from the village. But incidentally, she met a handsome man on the way. she instantly recognized his face from his daughter's photos.
The man coldly stuffed a parcel of cash in her hand and asked her to keep them alive.
Grandma Lui was shocked to realize the truth. The twins were not just a bum's species. They were a rich man's illegitimate child.
Mister Wang Bushen's children.
She hurriedly carried them back home and started to take care of the precious treasure.
Jian sighed. In his past life, his grandmother had uttered these words in a drunken stupor. He was shocked and saddened by this,
The only purpose she raised them to adulthood was for money.
Jian scoffed. 'In two months, the wang family will approach them again to adopt Bian.'
Wang Bushen had paid off their grandmother only in hopes of keeping the children alive. After all, he had been married to his wife for five years and they still didn't have any children.
After sixteen years they still didn't have a child.
So, the twins came in handy.
But the Wang family only wanted one heir.
They chose Bian.
'When they come to pick Bian up, I will happily send grandma their way. they can happily live in that golden cage. I'll take care of the old man,'
Jian smirked at his amazing plan.
This way he didn't have to run away from home. All he had to do was manipulate the old lady a bit and she would happily stick to her darling grandson, Bian.
'What a treacherous plan.'
