Chapter-57 Fast as fuck boi!!!
"Your Speed-Board is working perfectly fine, Mari-san. The activation sequence within the board will be a tad bit faster due to the configuration you use in your C.A.D"
"Thank you so much, Suzune-san! You are a genius!"
Mari sincerely thanked Suzune for calibrating her C.A.D, allowing her to channel her psion a tad bit faster, the spell casting would be a tad bit faster due to which Mari would get a head start.
The Speed-Board Event was a single race event; 9-individuals would race each other for the first position and earn 30-points
for their school, second ranker and third rankers would be awarded 20 and 30 points each whereas the other participants would get zero points.
The participants aren't allowed to directly interfere with each other but the use of magic on the surface of the water is allowed to disrupt the other surfers.
The requirements for this event were also quite strict; only females could participate in this event and all the surfers must belong to a certain weight category.
Not to mention, the minimum control one needs to have over the speed board to propel it forward and neck-breaking speeds are insane. Mari had a phenomenal control over her magic, partially due to the nature of her magic, it wasn't strong in offensive capabilities but was very versatile, making her the ideal individual for this event.
"Not a problem, Mari-san..."
Suzune let out a small smile, Mari had asked her to help calibrate her C.A.D after Erik's suggestion and then witnessing the fabulous perform by Mayumi with her own two eyes.
"Go, Mari! I know that you will destroy the other participants."
Mari had changed into her school uniform after finishing the event and was now standing within the preparation room, to cheer on her friend who was about to enter a stressful event.
"Yeah, I will try my best to win!"
"I wish Erik would have here too..."
Mayumi thought out loud while looking towards the list of the event.
Erik was busy preparing for the upcoming event, [Pillar-Break] which was to be conducted just after [Speed-Boarding].
"Yeah, he is busy with his preparations but he did send his regards....."
Mari responded to Mayumi's thoughts as she addressed the fact that Erik didn't forget to wish her luck.
"Yeah..."
As soon as both of them finished speaking, the speakers within the room automatically turned on as an announcement was made through them.
"Participants are requested to gather near the pool...."
"Well, looks like it's my time to shine!...."
"All the best, Mari!...."
"Do your best, Mari-san!....."
Both Suzune and Mayumi wished Mari all the best, watching the latter leave the room to enter the event area.
(At the Event Area)
A member of the organizing committee could be seen standing near the pool, 9-participants were just right next to him, giving the person their attention.
"All the participants have been gathered here as we are about, to begin with, the [Speed-Boarding] event, I request you all to prepare yourself!....."
"You all will have to propel yourself forward using magic, keep in mind that the flow of water within the pool is in opposite direction to that of the finishing line..."
"You all aren't allowed to directly interfere with your opponent or their board, anyone found breaking the rules will be disqualified...."
"Alright, get in your positions, everyone!...."
Mari was wearing a wetsuit and a head-band, her posture a bit bend and backwards. Her eyes were narrowed as she looked at the still water beneath her surf-board.
"3.....2...1...Go!"
𝔹𝕠𝕠𝕞! (Boom!)
As soon as the buzzer went off, multiple magic sequence appeared underneath the boards upon which the participants were standing on.
Each one of them burst into action, propelling themselves against the flow of the water using [Systematic Magic] combined with [Acceleration Magic].
"Argh!...."
The surfer of the 2nd High school let out a pained groan as the water in front of her suddenly dropped down, causing her to lose her balance and fall into the water.
The organizing committee immediately motioned to the supervisors to check if the participant needed any medical attention.
"Wow, the participants have only reached 1/3rd of total course length yet one of the participants has already been eliminated by the [Weight-Type Magic] used on the water in front of her, by the [4th High School participant]..."
"The match is intense indeed, those sharp turns are already a headache but what makes them even more dangerous is the fact that the participants tend to deploy traps after making the turn....."
"Last year, about 4 out of 9 participants were eliminated on these turns, I am curious to see how they will tackle this...."
"Yay!....Woohoo!..."
"Even the crowd is very excited to see who will come out victorious in this race..."
"Currently, First-High and Third-High are in the lead, just like in the previous event, Hinata and Mari are leaving the others in dust....."
"[Systematic Magic:-Whirlpool]....."
Hinata glanced towards Mari, who was just behind her and activated her magic. A magic sequence that which rotates the water molecules around the targetted area and makes then spin, causing a vortex to form.
"[Systematic magic:-Air-Flow]....."
Mari reacted quickly, she casts a movement spell and turns to the side before she could get caught up in the vortex.
The [Air-Flow] magic immediately nullified the wind pressure that she was facing, causing her speed to increase by quite a bit.
"Tsk!....."
Hinata clicks her tongue in annoyance and continues to place more traps throughout the path, Mari calmly avoids the trap, using her increased dexterity to make dangerous turns.
"Oh my god! I can't believe it! Mari has once again caught up with Hinata and currently, both of them are going toe to toe against each other..."
"The last event was also between Third and First High, not to mention that it also was a very close match..."
"Looks like something similar is about to happen!....."
Just as both of them were nearing the finish line, two magic sequences appeared a little farther from their current location, on the path.
"[Systematic Magic:-Wave]..."
"[Weight-Type Magic:-Lesser Kinetic Energy]..."
The path in front of Mari suddenly burst into a rather huge wave, she immediately shrunk her body frame to the absolute minimum while focusing the [Air-Flow] in front of her board.
Her plan was fairly simple, she was decreasing the surface area of her body and using the [Air-Flow] to hopefully pierce through the wave.
Splash!
Mari grits her teeth sue to the immense pressure that was directly applied to her body, even if it was only for a second before she made it through.
"Argh...!"
The board of which Hinata was using suddenly slowed down, causing the huge inertia to push her body forward, making her almost fall of the board.
Mari had decreased the kinetic energy within a certain area of water, causing the fluid to behave like a solid, thus the deacceleration.
Hinata wasn't able to dodge Mari's spell, causing her to slow down and unfortunately, that was enough for Mari to take the win.
"THE FIRST-HIGH SCHOOL WINS ANOTHER EVENT!..."
