Kapitel 34: Chapter 034: Childhood Colleagues.

"Clam! Clam! Clam!"

The metallic boots of Taka, Sargent of the 7th division city guards, stepped across the floor as she marched towards the Captain's office.

Soon, Taka stood in front of the wooden door, her face expressing no obvious emotions. Before making her presence known, she removed her helmet and her ginger hair fell out in a long braided ponytail.

"Knock! Knock!"

"Who is it?" Frank asked.

"Sargent Takahashi, Sir!" She answered loudly.

"Enter." Frank's voice became more serious as he heard who it was.

With a twist to the handle, she entered the room and stopped a few meters away from Frank's iron desk. Frank sat in his chair, his arms crossed and body language oozing anger while Taka stood calm and unnerved, her helmet cushioned under her arm.

"Explain yourself," Frank demanded.

"What would you want me to explain, Captain?" Taka responded.

"Tsk!" Frank clicked his teeth and gripped his hands tighter. "Don't play dumb with me Taka!"

"My apologies Captain, but I am unsure of what you're referring to." Taka calmly responded.

"Plap!" Frank flung a folder and landed it at Taka's feet.

"Do you recognize this report?" Frank demanded.

Taka knelt and picked up the folder. She paused for a second as she opened it and saw familiar writing.

"Yes Sir. This is my handwriting." Taka stood up, flipping through the pages. "Is there an issue with my reports, Sir?"

"I read through it." Frank leaned forward, elbows on his desk and fingers intertwined with each other. "Do you remember the name "Caliban"?"

"No, I don't recall anyone with that name Sir," Taka responded.

"Oh really? Well, let me remind you then." Frank mocked. "He's been arrested several times by you before, but the latest was three months ago when you arrested him for assaulting a child in the Outer-Mid East Wing. Although, in your report, you stated he couldn't remember his name at the time. Do you remember him now?"

"Yes Sir. He was still under the heavy influence of drugs before and after arrest," Taka added.

"Good, you remember him," Frank spoke sarcastically with a serious voice. "But I soon spotted an error in your report."

"An error?" Taka asked, flipping through the folder.

"Yes. You forgot to mention where you planned on keeping him as a r*pist pet for the next three months." Frank's mana aura started to bubble with rage. "And within my jail cells too."

Taka felt a chill from Frank's unexpected aura burst and a sweat droplet ran down her forehead.

"Excuse me Captain, but that information isn't true. The jail records should show that he was released."

"The records did say that, but you kept him there, arbitrarily." Frank's gaze intensified. "Not to mention, I have confessions from several guards about your frequent use of excessive force, and threats to silence others so you could do your bidding without me knowing."

Taka's calm and unnerved expression started to slowly fade away with frustration taking its place. Her hands squeezed the folder, crumpling the papers as she bit down on her teeth hard.

"So, Takahashi Hamilton Bailey... Would you mind explaining yourself?" Frank glared with superiority, having cut off all Taka's escapes.

Before answering, she took a deep breath and regained her composure.

"It was for the sake of justice and protecting this city from–."

"WHAM!"

"Don't give me that bullshit excuse!" Frank slammed a punch into his iron desk, engraving his fist deep into the metal. "Which part of beating people close to death, then torturing them with a r*pist is justice? Are you fucking insane?!"

Frank's mana aura and rage flooded the room. Taka, having expected this was calm and remained still.

"I aim to instill fear into criminals and evildoers," Taka spoke with absolute conviction. "Yes, my methods are extreme but it's necessary to keep peace within this–"

"Not another fucking word!" Frank demanded, prying his fist out the iron, standing straight up. "It seems you've forgotten your place."

Frank relaxed his mana aura before he continued speaking.

"Starting tomorrow, you're suspended for 20 days with a 50% cut in your pay, and 8 days of office duty after your suspension is served." Frank sat back down in his seat. "You're dismissed."

Showing no reaction, Taka saluted before turning around to leave the room. While her back was faced towards him, her face burned with anger and frustration.

"Click!" The door closed.

Silent yet pissed off, Taka heavily tread down the hallway, tensing her fist with her brows furrowed downwards and teeth clenched. Taka's brute strength was slowly crushing the helmet under her arm without her realisation.

"Looks like someone got in trouble." Someone mocked as Taka walked past.

"Who dares–!" Taka instantly turned to the voice, eager to release her frustration. "Tck! it's just you."

"Oh, come on Taka-Hami. Is that how you greet someone who shared the same bed with you growing up?" Sierra pushed herself from leaning against the wall and stepped in front of Taka, pouting. "I had to sleep in your piss so many times too."

"Get out of my way." Taka looked down on Sierra with cold, annoyed eyes and fury.

"Haaa! You're such a killjoy now." Sierra stepped aside, sighing. "I liked you better as a cry baby when we were kids. I wonder what changed you?"

Taka said nothing and just proceeded to take a step forward before Sierra's next words erupted something within her.

"Being brutal to criminals won't bring your family back, Taka." Sierra's aloof expression dropped to serious, her hand quickly falling to her hipped sword and her knees bending.

Taka's right forearm swung towards Sierra's head with deadly force.

"Crash!"

Her forearm smashed into the wall, crushing the concrete above Sierra's head.

"Don't you EVER talk about them again!" Taka pulled her arm out the wall, pebbles falling after purposefully redirecting her attack.

"My bad… that was too far." Sierra released her sword, and stood up straight while brushing off the dust on her clothes.

Sierra stood there as Taka speed-walked down the hallway with a pissed-off expression and muscles tensing in anger.

"Tck! Why the hell would you bring that up, you dumbass!" Sierra exclaimed, squeezing her fist as she walked to Frank's office.

Standing in front of the door, she stopped to take a deep breath to change her mindset.

"Bam!" The door flew open.

"Captain!" Sierra yelled.

"Who flung my–! S-Sierra!" Frank jumped to his feet. "How many times do I have to tell you to knock first?!"

"But that's boring. Boo!" Sierra held her thumb finger down.

"It doesn't matter if it's boring! Ah dammit, I don't have time for this now. I have an important meeting to head to now." Frank hurriedly grabbed an envelope from his drawer and handed it to Sierra. "Have someone deliver this package to the Williamson family."

"The Williamson family? You mean the one with Ex-Captain Frederick!?" Sierra became excited.

"Yes, that family." Frank walked out of the office and Sierra followed behind him.

"Can I do it? Please!" Sierra begged. "I really wanna meet him."

"Don't you have work to do?" Frank asked.

"Yes… but I won't take long. I'll even leave someone in charge while I'm gone." Sierra argued.

"Haaa! Fine, do what you want." Frank waived.

"Oh my gosh! Thank you so much, Captain." Sierra tightly hugged Frank's arm.

"You're too close!" Frank pulled away his arm, his face slightly blushing. "Just make sure it's done before I get back."

"Hai, Hai! Captain." Sierra saluted. "Consider it done."

Frank continued his way as Sierra immediately went another. As she promised, her first stop was to the training grounds. Walking out onto the open area, her presence was met with respect immediately.

"Good morning, Lady Neves!" All the men and women soldiers lined up to give their salutes.

"Yeah yeah, good morning to you all." Sierra fanned her hand, signaling for them to be at ease. "Get back to whatever you were doing. Where's Sam by the way?"

"Present!" A tall, bald muscled man stepped forward.

"Oh, there you are. Your head is as shiny as always." Sierra pointed out.

"Yes, Lady Neves. I shaved it this morning." Sam shouted beaming with joy. The sunlight reflecting off his smooth dome.

"Was there anything to shave in the first place?" Sierra mumbled to herself. "Anyways, I was given a task by Captain Frank to deliver a package to the Williamson Family."

"The Williamson family? Are you referring to the family with legendary Ex-Captain Frederick?" Sam bellowed.

Everyone heard Sam's loud voice and envy filled their hearts as they found out the reason for Sierra's stepping out.

"Shhhh! You idiot, now everyone heard." Sierra aggressively whispered.

"Oh no! My apologies, Lady Neves. I'll make it right."

"No, don't say any–!"

"What! You AREN'T going to the Williamson family where legendary Ex-Captain stays?! Oh wow! Thanks for clearing up that HUGE misunderstanding Lady Neves! You would've made a mistake and ended up at the wrong place, and that would've been a shame! You would've gone to the Williamson family, which is where you're NOT going!" Sam tried to play it off, but it was painfully obvious he was lying. Yet, Sam's face was proud, as if he had pulled off the greatest bluff ever. "Lady Neves, they fell for it. Problem solved. Huahahaha!"

Everyone, including Sierra, wanted to throw something at Sam's obnoxiously shiny head for laughing as if he was convinced he had fooled everyone but held themselves back.

"Haaa!" Sierra sighed, facepalming. "Anyway, Sam, you're in charge until I get back."

"Yes, Lady Neves! I won't disappoint you." Sam quickly saluted as Sierra walked off.

All the soldiers present were immediately pained by Sierra's selection of a replacement and some even started to feel their muscles preemptively ache.

"Listen up you rat shits! Lady Neves left me in charge." Sam shouted, spit flying out his mouth. "Line up! We're doing a hundred laps, a hundred push-ups, a hundred squats, then a thousand sword swings before Lady Neves returns! And if anyone falls behind, we're starting over! Is that understood you filthy rats!?"

"Sir, yes sir!" The soldiers loudly replied, some with watery eyes.
