Kapitel 10: Chapter 10: Meeting Her
(I'm on holiday now, until the 4th of October, and I fully intend to spend a lot, if not all of it playing video games, so this chapter will have to hold you all for a long time. I need the time to be able to relax.)
It's about time I go back to Heaven's Garden to get some more plants. The ones that I got the last time I went are growing nicely, and I want to get some of the other ones that I briefly saw there.
Grabbing some money and leaving the lodge, I began jogging there. I remembered the route from last time, so I wouldn't need to use GPS like last time when I arrive at the city, so this should be slightly faster than before.
-1 hour later, in the city-
Finally arriving at Heaven's Garden, I enter through the front door.
As I enter, I once again see Hana Shiozaki, the woman who was here last time. However, I also see another person. She was attending to some plants near the counter.
A girl with vines for hair that reached down to her waist. She wore a strange set of clothing, as well.
(Here. By the way, this was drawn by Horikoshi himself. It's Ibara in her "civilian" clothing. I don't know what the thing she's wearing is called.)
Hana was very quick to notice my arrival.
"Ah, you're back, dear. You told me last time that you were coming back, but I didn't think it would be so soon.", she greeted.
"There are simply too many plants here that I want for me to be satisfied with just one visit.", I replied.
"Oh my, a compliment from Chikyu? Mandalay would love this news.", she said, chuckling.
"By the way, who is she? Is she your daughter?", I asked, ignoring her teasing.
"Yes. Ibara, honey, introduce yourself, please."
The vine haired girl turned to face me. I noticed that she had dark green eyes.
"Greetings. My name is Ibara Shiozaki.", she formally introduced herself.
"Chikyu Tsuchikawa.", I responded.
"Oh, you were the one who was first place at the Entrance Exam. I thought your face looked familiar. It's impressive that you were able to get into Class 1-A.", she said.
"You also took the Entrance Exam? Did you pass?". I inquired, curious now that I knew she also tried to get into UA.
"Yes, but I wasn't placed into Class 1-A, like you were. I was put into Class 1-B. I'm still surprised and glad that I got in at all, so I'm not scornful about that."
Ah, Class 1-B. I'll have to see if any of them have any worth to them at some point.
-3rd POV-
As the two talked, Hana watched with amusement. From what Mandalay told her, Chikyu was a strange case when it came to conversation.
Despite his well known attitude toward everyone who wasn't a family member, there were cases where he could talk for quite a long time with people on topics that he enjoyed. Some of those topics included biology, the planet, fighting, heroics and villainy. What was happening in front of her was a prime example of a case where he could talk for much longer than he normally would because the topic of conversation interested him, the topic this time being heroics.
Different things were brought up in the talk. Each other's quirks, what it let them do, how they used it, etcetera. At some point, it went back to heroics.
"If you two would like to talk, why not do so as Chikyu looks for some more plants?", she suggested. The two of them agreed, and started conversing as Chikyu looked for some seed packets to purchase.
The conversation stayed on the topic of heroics for the whole time that Chikyu searched. The biggest topic was about their classmates. There could not have been much bigger of a difference between their thoughts about said classmates.
Ibara said that she was grateful to even have classmates who would fight alongside her, and that she would accept them, no matter how many mistakes they make or how incompetent they were.
Chikyu, on the other hand, said that if his classmates didn't take improving themselves seriously, he would make them fight him until they are forced to improve to survive.
While that was definitely more of a threat in the case of stagnation, Ibara interpreted in a much nicer way.
"It's very righteous of you to be so set on helping your peers improve as much as they possibly can!", she said.
"....Sure.", he dryly responded after a few seconds of silence.
The first plant that he took some seed packets of were the seeds of a night sky petunia. They were a beautiful flower that had an appearance that resembled the beauty of space.
The second plant he got some seeds for were the seeds of a lavender.
The third and last seeds he got were the seeds of a protea. (Our national plant, btw)
Satisfied with his choices for now, he returned to the counter, still in conversation with Ibara. When he paid for the seeds, he spent a few more minutes still talking with her, only ending the conversation 10 minutes later, as the both of them had gotten invested in it.
"Thank you for the flowers, Hana.", he thanked, ready to walk out the door.
"Also, Ibara.", he started.
Ibara looked to him, curious of what he was going to say.
"Thank you for the talk. It was more entertaining than I thought it would be"
Despite his words sounding more like a combination of a compliment and and insult, she smiled and told him it was no problem. He nodded and left the store with his seed bags, ready to start jogging back.
(Short, I know. I just wanted to introduce Ibara so that things can eventually start rolling. Also, romance will be slow-burn. They're not going to become lovers in like, 20 chapters. I'm going to try and make the progress natural, even though I have not once in my entire life even tried to write romance before, up until now.)
(Oh, and once again, the plants that I mentioned for people too lazy to google it.)
