In the middle of the night, under a moonlit sky, two guards were patrolling the vast expanse of the Gallows Keep which was a fortress so grand and imposing that many mistook it for a royal castle. However, unlike a castle, which often buzzed with the life of courtiers and feasts, Gallows Keep was a prison for slaves. This was a place where all the slaves that are going to be sold in the upcoming auction were being kept.
The guards had swords hanging from their waists by sturdy belts designed specifically for carrying such weapons. These belts were not just practical; they were a symbol of their authority within the keep's towering stone walls and iron gates. Only the guards were allowed to carry weapons. And other visitors were not allowed to carry any kind of weapon. Anything that could be considered a weapon or could be used as a weapon was taken away by the guards before entering Gallows Keep.
