I struggled to pull in the thick air. The tension in the room rose by the second. The mist in the room clogged the air enough to be seen by the naked eye. Why was this happening?

I held up my hand. "We don't have time for this, Sabastian. We have to get this mating thing over and done with before dawn. So, stop being… you… Wait, what if you submit to me?"

He laughed. I knew that was a dumb suggestion. Kyleon would have said yes. But Sabastian was no Kyleon. That was clear in their different personalities. Since the effects of the mist were similar to the Red Moon, someone had to submit to the other. Stories about the process stated that the mates' true selves came out on that night. Sabastian was a dark being. That for one could be the reason he eyed me as prey rather than his potential mate. No matter if I submitted to him, we were not leaving this place until he destroyed everything. It would not be surprising if that included me.
