Kapitel 23: Chapter twenty three

"So.... How did you two meet?" Mr Sebastian asked, his attention shifting to Sophia.

Alex smiled warmly. "Ummm… I met..."

"I wasn't talking to you, Alex." Mr Sebastian interrupted. "I was talking to the girl."

Sophia felt a lump in her throat. She and Alex had never planned on what to say to the family when either of them was asked how they met. 

Sophia's mind raced through lots of thoughts; what should I tell him? Would he know if I lied to him? Did Alex already tell him how we met? What should I say?

Alex noticed the tension in Sophia's eyes and placed a gentle hand on hers. Sophia exhaled deeply. "It was raining, and then I was walking home." Sophia began. "Then I tripped, and Alex caught me. Then I thanked him and turned to leave, but he offered me a ride home..."

"And you just accepted? I knew you were a cheap skate." Valerie interrupted, a stern gaze from Mr Sebastian kept her in check.
