A week after the whole kidnapping incident and finding out that I was somehow magically connected to Sarah…Cameron showed up to my room with a bile of books and notebooks and placed them on my bedside table.

“What’s all this?” I asked in dread, my eyes wide in horror. “Please don’t tell me this is…”

“Your homework,” Cameron raised his eyebrows at me. “Yes, it is. And you have to catch up on your studies from now on. No excuses. You’re going to get back on track and I’ll help you with it.”

“Isn’t my boyfriend supposed to get me flowers? Not depression?” I asked him oh-so-innocently.

“Don’t get cheeky with me, Missy.” Cameron lowered himself to my level so we were face to face. “Remember what we talked about? You complete school, go to college and then we work together? You, of course, have the choice of choosing a different career, but lazing around isn’t an option anymore.”
